Actually they did offer them as an add on but as for using the 44 is cause they used them in f150 and are fairly easy to convert to 8 lug plus the price the Dana 60 kingpin is an extremely expensive axle even back then and nowadays are outrageously expensive
Okay, please send me a Marti report with one confirmed (you can message me on instagram). I am more than happy to be proven wrong here, but it says right in the ford book you could not.
At least you get the 8 lug outers, I have a half ton 78 supercab 4x4 trailer special. Not even a true half ton, everything underneath is a f250 except it has 5 lug outer on the Dana 44 and a 5 lug 9 inch rear, with a f350 frame. And it’s also a heavy duty trailer special to add to the confusion. So while being as capable as a one ton at the same time it’s just a half ton. Ford doesn’t make much sense is some aspects
If I understand correctly all supercabs had 3/4 ton frames don't hurt my feelings any. These trucks a re as tough as any these days and if something breaks you can make it twice as tough
@@prayingmantis3916 yes correct but i believe the 2wd supercab frames were slighter smaller in frame height. The crew cab frames are significantly weaker than a supercab except in the case of a 2wd crew long bed which is a unicorn frame on its own
@@DentsideDepot I think that's what I've got going on too 🤔 A mismatch of parts... Oh yikes, maybe the frame is the correct frame after all... I hope everyone keeps up chatting about this
Well, The Dana 44, and the Dana 60, aren't really necessary. They're more of a, feel good purchase. Because, I have pictures of my grandfather using a 65 Ford moving houses. He moved to 10 of them, with that truck. That s*** was never necessary. It was just trendy. And it's trendy because, the marketing and advertising team, put themselves in charge of building trucks. Which is why you now have, nuts and bolts rotted right off from brand new vehicles. Oh, and now you have to take the whole cab off the truck..... So you can replace the valve cover gasket... So I don't know who's brilliant and genius idea it was, to put the marketing and advertising team, in charge of building trucks..... But we can see how phenomenally well that's working for them.
They did. 1979 F350 supercab 4x4 (VIN X36) came with a kingpin 60 in the front. In fact this channel mentions it in his rare features video @@reltub20001
