Long story short, he has an avoidant attachment style, we saw each other on a weekly basis for day-long dates, but had very minimal communication during the week. He is a "workaholic" in the States, but apparently, it is a norm in Japanese culture. Being that he is a second language, highly educated researcher, he worked extensive hours and didn't make the relationship or getting to know me a priority. It was my fault too, I should have spoken up more, I was guilty of putting him on a pedestal. To this day, I highly respect him. But it was a mixture of differing values, attachment styles, vision, and goals for the relationship. I feel he got used to me cultivating the relationship and appeared heartbroken but I felt like I was chronically betraying myself. In a nutshell, I realized I wanted and deserved more. Okay so I’ve started talking to this guy (old friend with no contact of 5years) we realised we had some attraction So we went out for lunch. He specified that it was a date. uh oh... I've made some of these mistakes... I 100% don't want to chase him away. I truly love him. Have for about 2 1/2 years. He holds my heart. My guy isn't on social media so no issues with the stalking one. I fully 100% trust him anyway. He's never lied to me in our 5 uear friendship. My issue is mainly #1 - he's 11 years younger than me and he's gorgeous. He does seem out of my league. I'm thrilled he is giving it a try. 4. I've pretty much chased him... and he's even stated he doesn't like being pursued by women. This is probably my biggest mistake. I don't know how to fix this now...
