I started getting it at 9 but have since grown out of it and had parents tell me I couldn't play with their child cause I'm gross and contagious. I miss my spots now. I didn't see the beauty and uniqueness in them before because I wanted to be like everyone else so bad. Are your spots growing bigger?
I still remember when I was 13 I had a white patch on my face. It was getting bigger. I was scared to life that I had vitiligo. Later, it turned out to be a fungal infection which happened because I travelled to a hot place and I'm from a cold place
@@Mar19s72hallIf it was getting worse, why not just make himself white all together instead of constantly covering it up? It just seems like an inconvenience.
If you take away MJ n word pass im gonna drop the N bomb hard R. MJ deserves it more than anyone. Bro had more soul than Idris Elba playing blues at a cookout.
@@georgemuggleton6571Bruh wth... Nobody can take the N-word pass away f om Michael, heck I say it and I'm not black, but the intention is the one that counts
@@Oliver-vp5pe He pleaded his innocence and so did the kids now men who were used to accuse him. Christ said to the adulterous woman "does anyone else accuse you?" She turned around and said "no one". Christ said "So do I".
Skin bleaching is actually a medically approved treatment for vitiligo. It takes a large mental toll on a lot of people that have it, especially back then, when it was less widely celebrated. So some doctors will prescribe you treatment to bleach your skin.
Drs tried everything on me to see if they could limit its spread, including tanning sessions, just to see if the affected areas could hold any pigment at all. It didn't work, but I grew out of it, as most people do.
Seeing as vitiligo is way less taboo today, I believe he would've been more open about it, and people would've been understanding. Back then people had no idea, many thought he just wanted to be white
I’m pretty sure Twitter would focus more on the molestation and less on the skin bleaching. At the end of the day it’s someone’s choice to try and lighten or darken their skin, even if it is weird.
@@DustyHoney he didnt molest anyone. The kids that were interviewed admitted they were pressured into saying he did by parents and I believe news corporations
@@user-tr2mb4xs7iWhich was refuted by every single child involved whose parents were looking for a quick buck. There isn’t a single person on this earth who says that man touched them.
@jamlannistar4280 Yeah but bringing little boys into his bedroom for a sleepover is totally fine and he definitely didn't touch them. MJ settled out of court to shut them up.
My uncle is brown skinned, I remember he had a few white patches on his hands and very small ones on his face. I was young the last time I saw him and I always wondered what it was, Every time I asked I was only told it’s because of an illness
@@Sponguydogi who said he died 💀 I only used the expression “last time I saw him…” because my family doesn’t live in that country anymore so I haven’t seen him in Years. This illness doesn’t kill it just changes the colour of the skin.
I have vitiligo as a white person and my mom had it bad, it sucks how people get bullied for something they can't control, I may not have room to say this due to how unnoticeable it is on my skin, but I'm not going to let anyone target me for such a thing, I'm glad there's more representation these days because it does help people see it as a normal thing. Btw fun fact vitiligo affects hair pigment aswell making it white
That’s really sad… I actually have an aunt who has vitiligo. I haven’t seen her in about 7 years so I’m not sure what condition she’s in now but it spread A LOT when I last saw her.
@@sxulsisters Actually, vitiligo is not so bad, you just need to avoid sun (applying sunscreen is enough), cuz melanin keeps you safe from sunlight. So having vitiligo just "increases" your chases getting skin cancer. (And yeah, I have it too😅)
Actually, even though he was "white" and used bleach, it was not near enough and was still a patchwork of Black and white till the end, he just used heavy makeup, on the seeable parts to cover it up, just like the glove. It was said in an interview with him, and later also once with his sister that told it, when I remember it right.
@@Fitzcrackers4prez………You want him to continue putting on the brown color forever while becoming more and more white? That’s too much work just to make racists feel better.
@@Fitzcrackers4prez Even with heavy makeup, it's hard to hide such different spots. Or you use even more makeup, which for obvious reasons isn't the easiest option.
@@Fitzcrackers4prez There are many factors, it happened gradually, and if you look at photos you see how it gets brighter and brighter, so he used makeup early on, other weise you woud see white White spots. It's just that at some point he needed to do bigger steps, As makeup was mostly for bright skin colors. Even till now women of color find it hard to find a foundation that actually first their color. Because for a very very long time, the industry ignored them, so there was little variety.
I saw a video that he said that he was proud to be a black American and it really hurted him when people would make up stories about him not wanting to be who he was😢
Lets all take the time to remember that Michael had two autoimmune disorders, severe burns to his scalp, body dismorphia, problems with addiction, extreme arthritis, insomnia, and mental issues as a result of sudden fame at a young age and an abusive parent. All the things he did that might seem odd or unusual to most of us can better be understood when you realize everything he was mentally and physically dealing with on a daily basis
It's actually really tragic how people misconstrued what really should've been just a personal decision into this baseless rumor that must've really messed with his head when he was still here.
Yes, because he was famously burned on his scalp during a Pepsi commercial. The video of his head on fire is online. He had pain there the rest of his life.
I grew up with vitiligo on my legs, arm and neck. I didn't have the biggest patches, but they were obvious as the rest of me is caramel colored. Most people grow out of it, but it can advance for others. I grew out of it, and you can barely see what i was relentlessly bullied for now. I had parents tell me i couldnt play with their kids cause im gross and contagious. I tried using korean bleaching lotions on the rest of my body but that didnt work. Glad it didnt
If Michael had told the public about his disease and raised vitiligo awareness ahead of time, he could've saved himself a lot of trouble down the line.
I have vitiligo, and I can assure that doing what michael did Is a much much easier option The struggle is daily, and not giving in is really hard and frustrating, since there is no cure
Changing diet and lifestyle change can help. I have vitiligo on all of my joints but the changes made my patches on my knees disappear almost completely (I had them for 10 years)
The same doctor who diagnosed Michael Jackson with vitiligo diagnosed me with vitiligo too. I have people ask me if I bleached my feet but it's just my bodies immune system attacking the cells in my body.
Please remember that vitiligo is not something to discriminate against Its not contagious, its not something to pitty, and it certainly isnt something to be judgemental toward. Its a reallly big shame that anyone would ever see vitiligo as something unnatractive when myself and so many others find the sheer beauty in it.
Thanks man🙏, I needed to hear it. I have vitiligo. It has been 3 years that I have vitiligo. I always feel ashamed going outside and meeting people, I kinda locked myself in my house. The fear of being outcaste always makes me unhappy.
My husband is a dermatologist, and there are ways to RESTORE skin color. I think bleaching made him look like no one else’s skin color, and weird. Also, his problems stemmed from scalp burns occurred during a Pepsi commercial. This ultimately caused him to use pain meds and began the cascade of plastic surgeries - beginning with his scalp and burns and snowballed from there. Plastic surgery can become addictive because of unrealistic expectations. It’s almost NEVER going to meet up to people who are seeking perfection. Then, after plastic surgery, which can be incredibly painful, MJ began abusing pain meds. The rest is a very sad story.
MJ didn’t abuse pain meds, he was a prescription and was administered those meds by a licensed practitioner. He died due to the negligence of that practitioner when administering those meds
@@YD_. you can abuse meds you were prescribed. Having a prescription doesn't exempt you from abuse. Also, his physician was a POS that gave him ridiculous amounts of different benzos on top of major pain killers like propofol (which is never meant to be used outside of a hospital as it's done intravenously, which Jackson referred to as his "milk" Major sign of addiction). You can abuse anything.
@@LARTORIF342 he didn’t, this all documented. He died of a respiratory arrest after his medical personnel accidentally (or purposely if you’re a conspiracy theorist) ODed him then failed to bring him back.
Jackson's autopsy confirmed that he had vitiligo. His skin was found to have reduced (though not absent) melanocytes, the cells active in skin pigmentation. Vitiligo occurs in three different patterns.
@@hashakahwantstorepent.4176even though he worked very hard to fight not only the racism he received but that of those around him. The odds were against him and no one wanted to believe him
@@marlineclarke1137 These two are very different diseases; vitiligo is an autoimmune skin disease that destroys the skin's pigment-producing cells (melanocytes) while tinea versicolor results from superficial infection by a yeast, Malassezia furfur.
Sorry to say but the autopsy could not have possibly known for sure what caused his reduced melanocytes, it could have also been caused by a purposeful depigmentation of the skin in order to "look" white. Besides that, there is no evidence of him with white spots. We only see him get lighter in the early 90s
I have vitiligo and I love it I think it makes me unique in my own way. I remember when the first Barbie doll came out with vitiligo and I was beaming with joy. You are beautiful in your own way.
I once had vitiligo. I had it from the time I was two months old until a few years ago when I went to bed one night got up the next morning and found out I no longer had it. It just went away. To see me you never of known I had it.
Actually MJ told Oprah, the depigmenting started between OFF the Wall and Thriller which was 1979-1982 even before that in a picture while in NY filming the Wiz, there's a white spot on his chest. So it was already there for a while in 1982. Just asking and not being sarcastic, did you just make up the year 1982 or do you have anything to substantiate that year?
Wish we could just focus on the positive this man did for the world. I loved him from the early 80s and never believed all the disgusting allegations and hideous accusations. He went through hell. RIP MJ❤
@@nolanshaw5895 or they know him first hand and judging by how vicious the music and acting industry is at performers who go their own way, there is reason to believe they even had him KILLED on top of fabricating disgusting lies about him. They wanted to burn him because he chose his own life and happiness over serving the industry. Watch the documentary his family partook in where they rule in the possibility that the doctor who put him to sleep fatally was paid to do it on purpose. Also, think about modern performers like Kanye who claim that if you don’t conform they gaslight you and try to get you institutionalized in order to take away your financial independence and legacy. Lots to think about. Most importantly, listen to the children who spent time with him who still today defend his innocence as being just an adult child who missed his own childhood because his abusive father deprived him and his siblings of.
The amount of stress he put on himself to become the biggest selling artist in 1982 was outstanding , he used to walk around the studio telling everyone, this is going to be the biggest selling album of all time . Everyone thought he was joking, including quincy jones . That alone probably sent his hormones into overdrive and the fact that he had to pay for the music videos himself to realize his vision starting with Billie jean. If you look at the behind the scenes of his music videos his face was blotchy . You can tell he was beyond stress .
