Even as a chubby teenager with no girlfriend when this show was on. Mordecai was so frustrating to watch with how much he'd trip over himself(or you know kill his best friend) when Margaret would come around. Don't think we had an equivalent word for simp(maybe just pathetic? Lol) back then but I'm sure glad we do now. Hey did alpha ever do a bit on the time Mordecai went into a spiraling depression when he THOUGHT Margaret was getting married. I'm glad Rigby and Benson called him out for never having the guts to ask her out and for acting like that.
@@ceejhundo4046 I had only heard "simp" used as a condensed version of "simpleton", until Mordecai and Finn were trending and "simp" meant "person who becomes a doormat for someone they want to bang".
Margaret was fine but CJ had this Tomboyish charm & fun personality that I always thought made her an Awesome character. She's definitely Best girl after Eileen!
CJ is why I hate Margaret as a character, Mordecai and CJ had actually chemistry and development while Margaret was always just the generic will they won't they love interest character, she constantly dated scumbags while Mordecai would simp her. When she came back to the show and Mordecai simping again running his relationship with CJ. Yes Mordecai is also just as much to blame for obsessing over the one girl and just waiting for Margaret to be single and do nothing when she is and cheated on CJ and why I think he's also a bad blue jay. Rigby was the real heart of the show, from a moronic slacker who just wants to play games and goof off with his bros to then dating Eliene, going back to school so he can be equal to her.
@@TimeBomb014X it just shows Rigby was committed to it all. Mordecai on the other hand, over the course of the show. We start seeing that he isn't really committing to his relationships..
@@farkbett699 Basically, Mordecai got accepted into college and Rigby was rejected from EVERY college, so he decided to write a fake rejection letter for Mordecai so he wouldn't leave him.
@@MarshallLeeA ya people forget rigby was way worst back then before his redemption came in. Mordicai really was the more mature of the group in some cases before reality hits hard that he is terrible.
@@noumbrella1380 well, he at least finished High School and had a diploma, unlike Rigby who had to retake it And he dropped from community college from art because he felt that people hated his work and that ruined his confidence
I would just like to point out It’s not unrealistic to sleep through a concert I took my mom to a concert for a band I liked and she hated but let me go anyway And believe it or not she pulled a Mordica and rigby and the concert put her to sleep. And it wasn’t classical music or something it was loud. But otherwise good job can’t wait to see this series continue
Same! I fell asleep on my mom after going to my first concert together and felt so bad. Thinking back, I believe it was a rock concert. When the body wants to sleep, even when it does hear good music, it dips!
This era of cartoon network, I totally know what you mean. It really makes me nostalgic because this is exactly my high school years and the beginning of my college years and I loved how I could still really enjoy Cartoon Network shows even as a late teen-early adult. Summertime Lovin' will always remind me of summer going into my senior year. It kind of defines it a little. hahaha
Yeah. I remember i was around 6 when i started to watch. I bet so many jokes flew over my head back then i would get them now if any. I miss that era. It fully ended around 2018
Okay, can we just talk about the fact that Mordecai literally DROOLED at the sight of Margrett in this episode (7:54)? You can tell it’s not a caffeine craving, plus he had that look of “My mind is going to a place that is very weird and I’m not going to say it out loud because pretty much everyone knows.” That just shows that he’s far into his Simp-mode before his crush on Margaret even went anywhere-and it didn’t go anywhere for awhile, if I remember correctly. The music when it scrolls up on her doesn’t help much, even if it fits the moment so well!
Crow Rider - that was JG Quintel's intent on creating Margaret when he started Regular Show. To make her a hot cartoon dream robin bird girl that Mordecai would've always liked or simped on.
It's weird and funny that in the beginning of the show, Mordecai and Rigby along with Muscleman and High Five Ghost never got along with each other's pair but grow fond over each other throughout the show even if Muscleman can get annoying about taking his shirt off.
Isn't this episode proof that Mordicai and Rigby aren't lazy workers, and Benson is just a shit manager? These dudes worked harder than they ever had in their life for some concert tickets, and Benson is too blind to recongnize that they are just goal driven workers.
I wouldn't call him a bad manager he probably just can't think of a goal for them to reach that would motivate them continually. Bands are here and there much and I believe they worked hard to buy a game once or twice as well he probably just doesn't know their interests too well other than to goof off since he did ban the console from them at least once.
@@thefalcon534, Benson has always been a shitty manager to Mordecai and Rigby because even if Mordecai wasn’t kicked out of college by Rigby then he’d need to be working with Benson full time compared to Rigby only working part time because even whenever they work their asses off Benson doesn’t pay them raises and vacation time because the law states that a person that’s working over 42 hours has to be paid raise fees and vacation fees otherwise the manager like Benson is using Mordecai and Rigby for slave labor.
I love the show but looking back at mordecai’s relationship drama, it’s my least favorite part. Especially when it came to Margaret, with her she’s bland and uninteresting and mordecai being the biggest simp in all of animation. Rigby & Eileen are the best stable & well developed couple of the show.
@@dantethewanderer4989 You would absolutely hate her in regular show 25 years later when she gets her youth back and questions mordecai why he would sacrifice his youth for his kids!
@@SuperBubbleduck Okay that's really fucked up, ngl. Like I can't find a way to respond to what Margaret said without flying off the handle, I'm not even a dad and I still feel pissed at what she said. I honestly can't believe they had her say that, like what the fuck?
well, he is a bird; aren't birds all about mating and such? I always found it odd how in the show, no-one pointed out the fact that mordecai or Rigby were animals.
I think in a world with talking gumball machines, talking animals are the least of your worries. Though Muscle Man is supposedly human but we see other humans and none look like him other than Starla I always assumed he was a fat zombie but no one comments on that either.
@@starkiller1289 if anything is weird, Muscle Man’s brother isn’t green like their parents(you see their dad during the trucker episode and the mom during one of the Halloween specials) is no one gonna point that one out?!
@@PowWowChikaBowWow6902 Me too. I haven't seen that show since the day it ended, (Probably should fix that soon.) and I still remember it so vividly. It was one of my favourite "kids" shows, because it was still for kids, but with mature jokes. I just kind of liked that sort of thing.
Getting closer to 5 years now. I definitely still watch the cartoon from time to time as it's pretty unique all around (at least around the time it started out). But only certain episodes mainly from the early seasons as those were really the glory days of Regular Show.
When Mordecai kissed Margaret in front of CJ.... This dude blundered 2 relationshipa in six years... you cannot be that awkward to lose 2 relationships and by being a plain stooge (Remember the time when Mordecai thought Margaret was over him because he saw her talking to her cousin)
Okay what I call bullshit on the whole arc was the fact they broke up when Margaret got into her university of choice like...there doesn't seem to be any reason beyond she doesn't want to put any effort into a, let's be honest here, not really long distance relationship considering, rigby mentioned its about a day's drive to where Margaret's university is...it just seems like if they put in a little effort into their relationship we wouldn't have this problem
I mean the day's drive is about a full day of non-stop driving, about 20 hours worth, so it's a bit understandable but still unreasonable that they didn't try harder to make it work
Yeah like I don't know why they could've just made the relationship work. I have a brother that lives very far away from his girlfriend but they still have a committed and faithful relationship that's still lasting for 7 years. So I don't see the point as to why Margaret can't be Mordecai's girlfriend when her university isn't even that far or they could've atleast tried like communicating via messages, video chat etc.
@@dantethewanderer4989 I disagree actually. While yes the show could have said “oh there just making it work long distance” but tbh the more adult thing to do was rip the bandage and call the relationship quits as normally they simple don’t work and leaves room for mishaps and mistakes in the relationship. Plus being in a long distance relationship kind of speaks towards the saying if a tree falls but nobody hears it. Yes they could call everyday but think about it like this College is a lot of work, Work is a lot of work and they both wouldn’t have time to talk and communication would already be dense. Another point, these two were able to see each other everyday basically, now the field of there already pre existing friendship has changed and the interactions wouldnt be the same. Going back to my point earlier yes they should have took a break while she was in College but when she returned either reconnect and establish that they are meant to be or realize that with there lifestyles it wouldn’t work out for some time🤷🏾♂️

@@user-hg4hz1lx2h Hhmm, that's a pretty good point and I agree with most of the things you said. What I meant probably were the people who are ok with long distance relationships or people who are emotionally mature. While I agree that some couples might become a tad busy with college/work and it can hinder communication, they should atleast try to talk IF they have the time. It works for some people( like my brother and his girlfriend) and it doesn't work on others. It just really depends on how much time you have, how much you communicate with the person or how emotionally mature you are. Thanks for the civil conversation.
I just barely noticed this, and let me tell you, i was there to witness the premier of the series. How the ACTUAL *FUCK* is mordecai holding a steaming hot pot of coffee FROM THE BOTTOM???
Answer: cause he thought she was hot, that's basically it. Lets be honest a lot of us would take any chance we could get to be with a hot person. Only difference between us and mordecai is that we know when to quit, and we're also real people but that's aside the point.
@@fightingmedialounge519 no, they'd totally try as long as they didn't get too out their comfort zone. Or just get over it if it meant getting with someone hot.
I like that they eventually added more to Margret's personality. I genuinely liked her more than CJ, but I didn't think she and Mordacai were ever going to get together, no matter how much they danced around it.
Tbh from everything I've seen from the show over the seasons, the writers (at least the later season ones), never really cared about Margaret. It probably also explains why they took her out for 2 seasons. Though a lot of people seem to ignore that her and Mordecai *were already friends* from the very beginning of the show. Also, we see 0 interaction between her and Mordecai at the very end of the show. Though I think the love triangle stuff is definitely an overused poor writing technique and so I understand that part of the fandom's hate to that. But not the automatic hate on Margaret herself.
Also, I think it was all planned out that they wouldn't officially be together at the show's end because a lot of M x M shippers were expecting that when there was that episode in season 7 called 'Just Friends' pointing to that. I don't really care about them as lovers because I really like Margaret herself. But I think they just wanted to let the shippers know that they're not against the idea from that episode.
It's so funny how in the beginning I really didn't like or care for Muscle Man but man through the seasons Mitch grew into one of my favorite characters💪🏾😁💚💙
I really appreciated how they fleshed him out beyond a walking punchline and gave him goals and perspectives. And as gross as his relationship with Starla could be at times, he was actually a really good boyfriend/husband to her.
The Next Cartoon Network’s biggest Simps is Valentino and Charlene. Heck there was a episode that Charlene made a potion that is a creation of a *Simp Cult*
@Just Noob Victor and Valentino. Valentino is a simp for Two Girls just like Mordecai and Charlene is a simp for Victor that she accidentally made a Cult
Man, when this show went heavy on the romance and romantic drama my interest plummeted. It became so annoying, and I still find it annoying at 27. I just wanted 2 goofy losers and their dumb shenanigans not degrassi lmfao.
Tbh I don't see Mordecai simping as a major issue as to why he never got with Margaret, yes. It was DEFINITELY a problem, but I think the biggest issue is that he was NEVER just honest and straightforward until it was too late, there was a time when Mordecai literally KILLED Rigby because he couldn't even admit that he was obviously jealous of Rigby. That is a perfect example of my point within itself. Nevertheless, the simping was a definite problem, don't simp kids.
I honestly never really liked Margret she didn't really have much of a personality except love interest for Mordecai CJ on the other hand had a fun personality and I really liked Hers and Mordecai's relationship
because she's a bird and JG didn't know (back then) how to write romance and just went "boom, these 2 characters are lover birds, pun intended, oooooooohh!!"
JG originally created Margaret to be a dream girl and for Mordecai, that he would *always* like. The love arc mess didn't come until later in the show when other writers came in and started changing things around from the very original formula in the first few seasons JG Quintel had in mind when he started Regular Show.
When the series kept going, whenever there was an episode focusing on Mordecai being a total SIMP and ignoring everyone around him, were the most annoying episodes ever! Remember in the episode “It’s Time” when he refused to admit that he was jealous of Rigby making Margret laugh, and gets even worse when he literally tried to keep Rigby from going out to that Zombie movie with Margret and go as far to not only hide all of the clocks and watches in the house and literally killed Rigby?!! Those were the episodes that were just, unbearable to sit through.
I finally figured out why I couldn't stand Mordecai with the whole Margaret/CJ love triangle. It's because I have been then CJ in similar situations. I had guys lead me on and make it seem like they really liked me. Only to later find out the only reason the hung out with me was because they didn't have enough balls to tell the girl they liked the truth about their feelings. Even though I didn't react like CJ, her reasons for getting mad were valid. I'm glad she called him out for not just communicating how he really felt.
11:31 they reference the camomile tea in the pops can't sleep episode, really love seeing tiny points of continuity, it's what really made regular show stand out for me
among us is a revolutionary game wich gained popularity at the beggining of 2020, the game revolved around usually 10 players (also known as crewmates) being inside a ship and tryng to complete maintenance tasks inside said ships while tryng to beat the impostor wich initially is meant to act like a crewmate only to later sneakly atack and kill crewmates one by one
Yeah that made me pissed he didn't end up either of them because most of the damn show was about Mordecai’s problems with relationships and those two girls and it led up to nothing
What was his plan? Even without a boyfriend he is like a few rows down from her in a loud concert. Was he going sign at her from across the rows of seats?
