He didn't just composed songs for Tarzan. He wrote songs for Brother Bear as well. And as a result I love both films because of the contribution that Phil Collins did for them.

Yes! Same! And when I was a baby baby (like 1st-2nd grade) I didn’t know Phil Collins did anything outside of Disney. Our music teacher was very much in his Greaser era and when he said Phil Collins I’m like “Oh I know him! He’s a singer for Disney!”. He politely corrected a little girl who didn’t know better who came back home fuming at her dad about how he didn’t tell her that Phil Collins was in Genesis 😂

I was too young to see or grasp Tarzan when it first came out so my introduction to Collins was Brother Bear

Phil Collins writing the songs for Disney was the best decision they could’ve made. I played “You’ll Be In My Heart” on large headphones and placed them on my stomach so my son would know the song while I was pregnant. I played that song all the time because I’ve always loved it, even as a kid. Now I get to sing it to him and he knows this song as his song 🥹🥰

This is a cool behind the scenes, that you used to only see on dvds. I really like this, and it's cool that you are covering it. It brings back some good memories of watching the extras on the DVD after you already finished the movie, and how they talk about how it was animated and how they composed the music.

"Used to see on DVDs" Man, that hurts. Granted, they still technically do, but it hurts because they don't put them on the DVDs themselves, bit the blue rays and 4K discs only

@@autumbreeze1129 that's the reason why I made the comment. They used to have the behind the scenes on the dvd, and then moved it to Blu-ray or 4K for money reasons. After watching the film, it was sometimes nice just to see how they made the movie, composed the music, and performed those amazing scenes.

The "Genesis" was my father's fav artistic group so I grew up with their music and the incredible artistry of Phil Collins. Him having done one of the best Disney soundtracks ever was just the cherry on top of his brilliant career.

You'll Be In My Heart was the first song I learned to sing as a kid, and my singing it as a seven year old wowed even my music teacher, who was a singer unto herself. Today, I can sing almost any Phil Collins song, and I look to him as inspiration. I love the Tarzan soundtrack and have every song on my playlist

I've always respected Phil Collins as an artist. Grew up with him. When it comes to old school animation AND great soundtracks, I feel that Brother Bear and Tarzan are severely underrated. Thanks for the dive back into this OST, it was a little hard to get through the video as my recently passed mother was a HUGE fan of Phil Collins, Genesis and all of the stuff he does on the side. 🌈

I remember when watching some reviews of the movie, they really hated the soundtrack which I don't know why as I did enjoy it. That was when I got a vinyl single of Take Me Home and then the album "No Jacket Required" which got me hooked into Collins more.

You'll Be In My Heart is such a soul wrenching song. Tarzan is pretty underrated and, along with Land Before Time, one of the more gentle and nurturing of the animated movies. Just mom's and sons in general reminiscent of Bambi and Dumbo really strike a (wait for it) chord!

I love the Tarzan soundtrack. The film needs more attention. I get why Mulan, released the year prior, has experienced a boom in popularity but Tarzan should as well. It was a pretty big hit when it came out but Disney seems to ignore it.
