My mother told me the art institute was a scam. I went in 2002. They truly do not care about the students. They make their money off of financial assistance.

it wasn’t a scam for me. i graduated in 2007 and had a beautiful, well-playing career. i also had amazing internships and deep connections with my teachers and advisors.

Yes it's a scam, they lied about what they offered to get me to take a semester there back in 2008. Luckily from the experiences of the seniors I'm glad I dropped out.

I went to this school back in 2013. The school had some good programs and good up to date technology. The main problem was it was an expensive school , they had a higher drop out rate than graduation rate, they also had a low job placement rate. Also they are a private institution , different from university’s and community colleges.

I was just starting my second year. Even the teachers were blindsided by this. I even saw one in the video. Hopefully I can file a discharge and start over at another college

It’s a breech of contract so you definitely will come out on top. I’m a former graduate here! Stunned. This is, while not surprising, still so crazy.. And so many memories. The way this rolled out unexpectedly though like this is definitely unacceptable. Sorry that you’re going through it but don’t worry you have the law on your side here.

One of the biggest rip-offs since Devry. I never met a graduate with a "success story". All ended up working at Walmart. Degrees will eventually become obsolete. ESPECIALLY, SINCE Fortune 500 companies including Google, IBM, and Apple, have eschewed their longstanding degree requirements

I dropped out after 1 semester back in 2009 and got a job doing game design in a few years building my own portfolio. I'm 35 now and happy to say I made 6 figures last year.

They offered several very niche programs. I’ll be totally amazed if those kids can get 100% of those credits to transfer to another school. This is horrible…

They almost certainly knew they were closing before the semester started but they needed to take people's money first and then completely screw them. I feel like the owners of that company should be criminally liable

The Fort Lauderdale campus did it 1st. They should’ve saw this coming years ago. I went thru a lot dealing with those issues with my son. I feel sorry for the students.

The US Department of Education just wiped out my school debt for attending this campus. Anybody that took a loan to attend an Art Institute campus between Jan 1 2004 - Oct 16 2017, just got their debt forgiven.

I attended one year at AI and have nearly 50k student loan debt from that one year. I got financial aid and still had to drop out because they wanted me to pay $1,700 out of pocket each semester which my family could not afford! Worst mistake I ever made was signing up to attend here.

When did you attend, did you know they are canceling any repayment of debt acquired from Jan 1st 2004 - Oct 16 2017. I went to this campus from 2013 - 2017 and I got the email a week ago. If you don’t believe me you can just google the CNN article about it.

I attended the LA (Korea Town) AI for seven months in 2005-06. The only friendly people (apart from a likeminded art teacher) were the sign-up staff. Lesson: just because someone has worked in a given trade, it doesn't mean they're qualified to teach it. Teaching is a skill in and of itself.

@@ronniacherryIt was a scam school, back in 2008 at the Atlanta location some of the counselors gave many of the seniors at the time classes that weren't towards crediting their degree so back in 2008 many of seniors I spoke to were over 250k in college debt. All they did was fire the people involved but they never refunded the students money.
