I didn't watch the series but watched a review on it and I struggled to care about the story. Leila gets kidnapped because her adopted parents are irresponsible and luke is largely ignored regardless of the danger to his life too.
My favorite part of this mess of a show is when Vader, after having pursued Obi through multiple star systems, lands his ship, gets out, walks up to Obi and goes: "Have you come to kill me Obi-Wan ?" How can anyone mess up anything that much?
I feel like alot of you are missing what's going on in Vaders head, mans got his arms, legs, dick lopped off that chemically would change your brain into paranoia and PTSD, of course alot of him is pissed but hes also fkn scared to DEATH of Obi. Sometimes after getting your ass kicked, trying to get revenge when you're literally less than 45% of the person you used to be, you'd be more fearful when confronted than angry. I thought this series was good up until the child Leah arc then it became total ass.
I'm a prequal enjoyer. They are my childhood Obi Wan and Anakin where my heros growing up and after seeing this "show" i thought it was made by the janitors from Lucasfilms like its soo bad its scary.
Thank you! I share the same sentiments. People I talked to about the show enjoyed it and they said I was just a hater. The walk around laser fence and hiding Lea under his coat are perfect examples of how dumb this show was.
Lmao. The lazer fence made me laugh so hard from the sheer stupidity of it. I was just dumbfounded by the slapstick comedy of hiding her under his coat.
The channel growth continues. If I ever dive into starting a RU-vid, I always imagined it to be much like yours. Keep inspiring man. You’ll go very far.
For me, this was the worst show ever. It's incredible how bad it is. Plot, dialogues, the acting, the action, and worst of all, they destroyed Obi Wan dude! Freaking Obi Wan. Luckily for Kenobi, Rings of Power came out, thus taking the first place as the worst show.
I knew an AI was used but not because I thought it sounded awkward, but because it sounded like OT Vader. I thought it was flawless. But in the future they should just hire people who can replicate the voice. Like in Jedi Fallen Order
The only good thing about the show was the dialogue between Obi and Vader following their final duel of the season. It’s enough to make a grown man cry (it’s me. I cried).
Bro you have become one of my go to RU-vid reviewers so fast. Also think about making videogame reviews and don’t say that you aren’t a gamer i know you are. Keep up the good work. Regards from Greece👊🏻
My brother-in-law decided to show everyone the entire series of Obi-Wan in one long binge-watch when we visited him for the day, because he was so excited for us to experience it. Me and my fifteen-year-old son spent the entire time saying things like "Why don't they just...? That doesn't make any sense..! Oh my god, WHY would you do that..?" The entire 'plot' relies on people making spectacularly dumb decisions and then doing things to solve their (entirely self-inflicted) problems that only worked because their adversaries suddenly (and conveniently) dropped the ball even harder than the so-called 'heroes.'
Yeah this show was the fastest deflating baloon of the west, ppl were litterally shaking and crying when the show was about to air, and we never heard of it again 0.1sec after the Qui Gon scene. Even the super fans forgot about it
Another great video! I was thorn between between crying and laughing. There is so much wrong with this series there could easily be a part 2 :D Keep up the good work.
Deconstructing western heroes, one at a time. I think I was right when I decided that I would stick to the first three movies from the 70's/80's and forget about the expanded universe.
A+ usage of a Norm clip 🤣 The only thing I don't necessarily agree with is the James Earl Jones bit. I agree there's a lack of humanity when using the AI voice but in the case of Vader's character and the whole "he's more machine now than man" thing, it kiiind of works? Jones's voice just isn't what it used to be. Hearing him deliver the same lines in the "live action" Lion King that he did back in 1994 was just straight up depressing. Realistically a happy medium would've been hiring him again and putting his voice through more of a filter to help it with the depth and tambour we're used to, and maintain the sinister quality to his voice. Unassisted, he'd sound like a weaker, more timid Vader. Just my take. Keep up the great work!
It's been really awesome to hear your thoughts with your knowledge of film and music. 100% agree with what you said here. I went through a similar thing with Force Awakens. Original Star Wars trilogy meant so much to me. Then to watch the characters, universe, and everything I loved about Star Wars just absolutely ripped apart... it just broke my heart. Really kind of felt like I went through the stages of grief after that. I am still getting used to having to say I am a huge Star Wars fan but only of the original trilogy. It's odd. Because to me, when one says they are a Star Wars fan, I feel that should default to OG trilogy and the prequels. But not any more. Regardless, the original trilogy will always be near and dear to my heart and I will forever be grateful for how it helped me through some crazy hardship.
I completely agree. It was total garbage. My only conclusion was that they writes/producers wanted to make fun of the jedi and the 50 year olds who love Star Wars so decided to write for a 5 year old.
I was so excited for Kenobi that i would literally count every day until finally came out. This show should had no problem win me over just with minimal effort. But in the end it was not a star wars show but a lecture about the "message". But apparently if you dislike the show you are just racist...
They are destroying (character assassination, really) the Heroism of the OG in order to justify the Meh! of the new characters. Luke is an old fart, Obi was an idiot and a coward and so on and so on; so that a mostly annoying presumptuous little meh like Ray can be considered a hero. Disgusting.
I feel that this show also put a lot of blame on Obi-Wan for the destruction of Alderaan. If he killed him I feel like there's a good chance it wouldn't have happened. Plus all the other people he killed, like when you what the end of Rouge One and the beginning of A New Hope we'll all just sit there and think, Obi-Wan could have prevented this and all these people could have lived.
@Derek Ford when Vader shows up and finds Obi-Wan I think is what they're getting at. Obi-Wan proved before that he could've killed him on Mustafar, and thought he did, only to hold himself back from killing him properly
I Loved the prequels. Yes. I know I'm in the minority, but I did. And no, I wasn't a child. I could explain why, but I felt it was brilliant. I get why most people didn't like it, but I actually liked the midichloriants. Why? Because mitochondria is the foundation of multi-cellular life. To a biology geek, it was a brilliant concept. Also, I think Jar Jar was supposed to be Darth Sideous. I think if that had not backed down and kept him as a sith lord, it would have been brilliant.
Almost 40 and have never understood hate for the PT (though now everyone thinks they are masterpieces compared to Disney SW). Think peeps were disappointed they didn’t have that junky/used look of OT. I personally love how it makes the eras feel separate.
I couldn’t have put this in words any better my damn self. When Obi Wan took off running like a baby back bitch …. I literally turned that shit off , tossed the remote on the recliner and walked tf out of the room smh..
Just noticed your LAW logo on the screen to your left. Nice logo. I was a graphic designer and appreciate good work. Didn’t watch Obi but like seeing junk getting thrashed.
I’m a fan of episode one, great light sabre fights. I don’t mind jar jar , l would watch his scenes over the new movies (7-9 ) any day. On this season l was let down but not surprised
I am also a Sequel enjoyer I thought they were awesome. Sure the lines needed work and George should have had some help to write them. But who can hate sequel Obie wan, senator palpetine? Or Macron Windu
I am also a prequel enjoyed and have been since my childhood in Nigeria. Though I watched the original trilogy first, I came to enjoy the prequels because of how great the world building was. The only issue they had was poor writing but everything else was great and they didn't lead to low profits for the franchise or a divided fan base. Disney star wars pales in comparison
I second Piotr’s recommendation. Like you, Jonny, I was deeply disappointed by Kenobi. The edits in the Patterson Cut may not have “saved” Kenobi, but it dramatically improved the story structure, pace, and flow of the story. Maybe give it a watch after you have some distance from the original version. 😊
Omgoodness you sound like me with my neighbor 🤣🤣 but have not watch obi as I've heard it's really bad and I refuse to watch anymore shit that Hollywood/Disney keep putting out!! They can sod off! That's why I watch your videos to keep me update 😜 great vid Hun as always 🙂
I also like the 3 original Star Wars prequels. I really don't get why so many don't like them. I also like Rogue One. All of these have entertaining plots and characters you care about. (And no, I don't find Jar-Jar that bad either.) The sequels though sucked, and the latest series too (but among these The Mandalorian was okay). The problem with all these latest Star Wars movies and series is (as always nowadays): they have woke political agenda.
I didn't think the show was that bad, although you're totally right about how forgettable it was. I always imagined Vader and Obi-Wan's last battle (before the prequels came out) would have him telling Obi-Wan that "Anakin is dead, I killed him," and I'm glad they now have something similar so that Obi-Wan doesn't sound like such a liar in Episode IV. And I totally agree with you on Reva--as much as I like her character development, she just wasn't imposing or threatening, and therefore she was utterly unconvincing as a villain. She just didn't have the *presence* of someone like Vader or the Emperor, which is something I also thought Hayden Christensen lacked in the prequels, they needed someone with a deeper or louder voice, and more intense character in both cases. The Grand Inquisitor was pretty good, as was the Fifth Brother, although they didn't do a very good job on the makeup. In general, though, I think the Inquisitors are a dumb idea--they're kind of sith, but they're not full sith so they don't violate the rule of two... like, what's in it for them? They're never going to be made full sith.
Disney is done! Agree with every point you made! They disappoint with everything they touch nowadays..... This woke script writing is just lazy and frankly annoying, extremely unsatisfying and immediately forgettable... They are cementing the saying: Go woke then Go broke!!!
Well I can say that after beeing dissapointed with several shows that Disney put out like Bova Fett, Loki and Moon Knight, I decided to cancel my subscription with Disney plus so I didnt get to watch Obi Wan and Im glad I didnt. These shows are an embarrasment to the franchises and demonstrates that Disney is only able to deliver quantity not quality. My opinion
I was very hopeful for this show but the premier did it in for me. The worst part was Leia. "It's like raising a boy." Because you can't be a strong woman if you're not exactly like a man. And having her in the story in the first place instead of Luke... I didn't make it past the 4th episode. And did they have to do the worst of Lucas' dialog as the "previously"?! I think this show was a retcon to stop us all from saying "Luke naming his son Ben makes sense since he grew up with him and he was his first master. Leia naming her son Ben makes no sense, she never met him and Han spent a couple of days with him and was constantly annoyed with him."
10:36 What grain? The video compression quality is so low I can see banding in the blacks as if it was recorded in 6bit color instead of 8 or 10 bit. No clue what you are talking about. You need very high quality video compression to see film grain.
The show just created so many questions and plot holes with regards to the original trilogy. It also was not good at all with characters who made little to no sense. All of them. Every character. It was just awful writing and no concept of the world they were working in.
i enjoy the starwars prequels as well. but recently found fan edits by Hal9000. his prequel edits are honestly. the only version i watch now. if you ever get a chance. google the name and edits and have a watch. you wont regret it! (his sequel edits are actually pretty decent too, fixes alot of the stuff)
I said it a thousand times anyone brought up the subject of an "Obi-wan series". Such a series cannot exist without utterly destroying established canon. Why? Because Obi-wan sat on his ass for decades while helping to raise and guard Luke. He didn't go galivanting around the galaxy. He didn't have any legendary battles or adventures. He didn't move an inch. So either A) the series was going to be boring AF or B) the series would "repurpose" the canon in an attempt to make itself entertaining. I'll never understand why anyone thought an Obi-wan series would be a good idea. There were only ever 2 possible outcomes, both of which suck. Stop letting nostalgia override your logic. It's crippling.
"I am... what you made me" Boo-hiss! Disney very clearly just reused the "I am your father" audio for the nostalgia... Hell, it's not even the first time they've just flat out reused James Earl Jones' voice lines from previous bit of work... If you've seen YMS' review of live action Lion King, you know...
The first three starwars movies weren't all that great, but the second three are unwatchable (I say that having just rewatched a three hour edit with the worst bits removed.)
how is it possible to keep this facial hair exactly at the same length every time? doesn´t it grow? lol cheers brudda 10 K on the horizon well well deserved :)
The secret is…. It’s drawn on, no to be honest i just trim it every week and if you ever see me clean shaven it means I messed it up haha 😂 all the best my dude
