It's because of ULEZ and other cities introducing charges for older diesels.

Make sure you regularly regen the diesels, especially if you do short journeys. When our 3 litre twin turbo snapped its crankshaft at 25mph outside Aldi it was a bit of a shock. So was the £16k for a new engine! Car had done about 97k miles. Bit of digging about and research showed this diesel engine design was a clone of a Peugeot design from the '80s or before. At that time I was working for a company that ran 605 diesels and they were forever going pop. ( No they weren't taxis but cars for directors and senior managers) Bearing in mind this poor pedigree, what were JLR thinking of?

That's a beautiful car and well worth the money, it's got a great MOT history on it, seems to have been well looked after.

Nice motors the Xf, I've got the XF-S. Just had the inlet manifolds done on mine. If yours is an early 08 or 09 reg check all 4 doors in the middle of the paint for micro blisters, a lot of them are coroding from the inside out due to sound deadening getting damp and rotting the doors from the inside.

Trouble with older diesel is not ulez compliant, and most major citys have that now.

Great video. I have the black 60 reg Jag 3.0 TD. Just had a big ouch as the fancy gear knob was stuck up and stuck in D. The garage I use had to collect and removed the gear selector unit . It was sent to a company in Cambridge repaired and refitted. Not cheap and it is a common fault on the jags (check internet).The other issue is rear drive shaft and hub assembly bonded together. Needs at least a 20 tonne press to separate, any less say goodbye to the press. Other than that beautiful cars to drive. Buckets of power and torque.

Could be loads of electronics are still in drivers footwell where they get soaked by rainwater issues from doors, sills and especially bulkhead. Also wiring loom going through boot gets worn. Expensive business when it goes wrong and unless you know anything about cars, can be an absolute money pit.

They’re just a huge liability. I had one, such a gorgeous machine but the fear of it going wrong is always there

Because the brand is owned by TATA, from the Indian junk yard if they can find a cheaper part they will put it on the car, engines are failing in Australia, at least when Ford had thebrand they were relatively reliable.

could always be a finance rejection, i rejected my xc90 to the finance company. car wanted a lot of repairs and the garage closed the day after i got it, finance co took it back, refunded me all my payments plus the deposit and sold the car at auction.

when I was a lad you could buy a "Morse" Mk 2 Jag for a grand ....................................... it would financially ruin you and take all the welding before you gave up and scrapped it but that was the early 80's. Interestingly my uncle had a FIAT 500 Vignale Gamine he was going to restore - never did and he passed - look them up imagine what money it would make nowadays

gee in Australia this would be a minimum of $7500 (GPB 3900) but more likely around $12000 (GBP6200) or one in this condition.

Jeez…..I traded in my ‘12 XF last year at BMW…..£6500………can’t believe prices I’m seeing….

The engine is worth £3000 alone.

I have known a few friends with these and one guy had from new an 09 and it’s had 2 gearboxes and the auto selector wouldn’t rise. Now done 250k and no other faults. Still other car that is as comfortable and beautiful ride quality. Others have had a plethora of faults and one even scrapped due to uneconomical repair. I’d love one e of these but scared to own. My friend with the 09 also bought himself an older petrol xjr as his retirement present. I ve been in both and I prefer the diesel as an every day driver. Oozes power, comfort and class

That Jag looked smart, my neighbour has had 2 and loved them but both developed water ingress from the scuttle/windscreen area so now he has a BMW. Cheers K.

Because jags and range rovers are not too dependable. The 3.0 diesel is well known for snapping cranks.

Beautiful car,unreal really that two and half bags gets you all that luxury,obviously fingers will be crossed it's not hiding any nasties,cos these can take over your wallet, but looks fine to me.

I had a newish XKR some 15 years ago. It was a stupendous looking car, fragile, uncomfortable on long journeys, expensive to run and not very precise when driving. Summed up, Jaguar, great design, over expensive (to buy and run) and that’s it. There are worse cars, but many far, far better.

I own an XF 2.7 litre twin turbo diesel. Absolutely the worst car purchase I have ever made. Electrics are absolute rubbish and I pray to any and all gods that nothing goes wrong with the shitty transmission. Never again will I buy European shite! Nippon all the way from now on.

Imagine how much that cost new? These are not the best cars. Cost an absolute fortune to repair. Those electric vents are very problematic. Nice cheap car….for a reason

You need elocution lessons, far to many word starting with f, eg free should be three etc.
