Like your "thought process" why you bought the Gleaner. Not everyone has that process - just keep that same color. Profitable farming generally involves evaluating options. Great job especially one handed. Love that Bob cam. Thks for taking the time - keep um rolling.

I ran Gleaners all my life. The F L R50 R62 S67 and some others to name a few. I’ve been Retired now for a number of years now. I think you will find they are the corvettes of combines. They are low cost easy to repair and easy to run at least the ones I had were.They have high capacity if set properly.Your Excelerator rollers are where a lot of the grain is cleaned with the blast of air blowing through them so keep those in good condition. I really enjoy your RU-vid channel. Your kids are a great asset along with the entire family. You do a great job explaining your operation.

Love your opinions of the Gleaner, we have been running gleaner for over 40 years. A lot of farmers aren't willing to give them a chance because they aren't "flashy". On our farm it would cost over 8k $ more a year in fuel alone to run red or green

Buying a Gleaner is like Buying a Versatile Tractor, They are Cheap, Economical, Productive Machines, and Most Importantly they Work & Get The Job Done! They will also be Priced $100,000-200,000 Cheaper than their Competitors. It’s All about Cost Per Acre.

Agree 100%. The JD X9 at 900hp seems like you're asking for stuff to break running so much through it. But you could buy 2 new Gleaners for the cost of an x9. Gleaner has always been about simplicity, keeping it light, less stuff to go wrong.

Somewhere in American agriculture we have lost sight of the simplicity of planting and harvesting. I fear we have over complicated the process with Cost of technology that its breaking the back of the American farm families. The simplicity of things like Gleaner combines and white planters has benefited my farm and family for many years putting black ink on the bottomline! 👍
@trevorn9381
@trevorn9381 3 года назад
The fact that Amish still manage to farm without all this technology pretty much proves that you don't need any of it. They farm pretty much the same way my great Grandfather farmed before 1955 when he bought a secondhand Case VAC.

Kid doesn't know how good hes got it. I used to sit on a pot in the L2 and it was always air conditioner but alot of condensation gave me a constant shower. That withy barley dust was itchy, and little louder inside. My dad would all of a sudden jump out check loss while going and jump back in. L2 had a 426 diesel and kept up with much bigger machines. 2000 acres a year, back in the days when people still used swathers and pickup headers. Versatile 400 of course.

In my opinion wheat will be the toughest test on a combine; you're bringing in 1.5-2 tons of material to the acre through that machine. Corn doesn't come close to that. If it can roll 3.5 in wheat then I have no doubt it'll handle 230 bu corn

There are two schools of thought on stalk choppers versus spreaders I preferred choppers residue management it helps with but it takes more maintenance due to wear and tear.... but if it's not a problem then the spreader is fine my experience in rice was residue management and I like the chopper one way too expedite decomposition....less hair pinning when planting

When the Gleaner turns out to be a reliable machine it has been a wise decision to go with . Current prices on a class 6 Claas or Case in mind . On the other hand I thought that Bob was going to use the Gleaner as his combine . Getting older and slowing down a bit and maybe finishing his career with the machine he started with .
@AceBaracuda
@AceBaracuda 3 года назад
Your macdon does have auto header height by the way. You run your wheels on the header at like in the middle (height as necessary) you unlock your header adapter like you do for soybeans except you don’t have the cutter bar in flex. Then you have to adjust the weight of the header with the springs in the header adapter there is. Typically a gauge bar on the right side of the adapter and you run it to a number depending on what size header you got.
@AceBaracuda
@AceBaracuda 3 года назад
Wheat and soybeans have different settings for how much weight the header adapter carries. Beans it carries more and wheat the adapter carries less header weight and the wheels on the wings/sides carry more weight.
