Well, I think Jason just didn't have the time and manpower to train the militia to drive tanks, 'cause it's not easy to operate one. Thus he chose to have them as drones so a handful of men could control a large number of tanks. Also, it's a game. Even if Jason had put actual men in these tanks, the devs would have made the Batmobille fire something like EMP rounds to neutralise them anyway

Operating a quite complicated vehicle like a tank is actually more difficult that driving it. Not to mention the cost of making it, but i guess Jason somehow became richer than some countries.

To be fair: The specs they had on the Batmobile previously didn't account for the new armaments, movement, and other systems that the one in Arkham Knight possesses. However, I could see the logic in using unmanned drones when the fear toxin hit the city. Hunting down Batman while he can't exit his vehicle and ensuring that he wouldn't be able to move around safely to try and stop it, while not endangering any of the men through exposure.
@comicfan1324

Even if they put a guy inside the tank, the first thing Batman did before unleashing the back tank onto the first drone was have Alfred scan it to confirm there was no one inside. So I’m sure if they put a guy inside the tank Batman would know not to use lethal force on it, and instead just blow out its wheels and disable the canon so the tank would be useless. It would be kind of neat if some people come up with a creative way to take it out, but it would kind of rob you of the fantasy of just firing missiles and bullets in this beauty of a war machine

The lore reason is because the Arkham Knight wants Batman to be at his best, he wants to beat Batman without him holding back.

i believe the ingame explanation was that the tanks were incapable of filtering the fear toxin so they had to make sure the tanks were unmanned so save on man power.

Another possible question that came to my mind from this: why didn't Scarecrow target Killer Croc? Or given his philosophy of using fear, use Croc himself on Batman. You could see Crane being of two minds on this, kill Croc to eliminate the experience that caused HIM fear, or send Croc as a more prominent character to strike fear in Batman. Could have been interesting.
@JackOswaldWhite1940

Because Killer Croc is irrelevant. Croc is just a savage animal. Him attacking Scarecrow wasn’t personal. Also Scarecrow is simply unaware of croc’s current location.

As someone that’s in the military, and this is just my opinion, I’ve thought about this a lot over the many times I’ve played this game because this is pretty much the first thought that came to my mind, I’d like to think it’s because in the Knights mind, it’s about the sheer numbers of his soldiers and maintaining that number, not so much their versatility, It’s also much easier to train a person to be an infantry solider, than to train a person to be a soldier, and then part of a fully functioning tank crew given the limited time the knight probably had to put them through any form of basic. But that being said all of the Knights forces were former military personnel and I’m assuming they were all probably special operations like the Marine core, Army rangers and Navy seals so who the fuck knows, probably just bad writing on Rocksteady’s part. The other option is that the Jason’s objectives also play a big part, and through the story that objective constantly flip flops between wanting to straight up kill Batman, and tiring him out making him suffer by having to take on the mass number of drone tanks and then completely switching things up by having to deal with a full on infantry force
@bunch1
@bunch1 2 месяца назад
People love to say they wanted to beat Batman at his best and he would hold back if humans were in the tanks. So assuming that's true, why have human soldiers in the militia? Batman would hold back any time he fought a human. He will never fight the Knight at his best because the Knight is human. The only option then is an entire army of robots, no humans in the city at all allowing Batman to go all out. And they don't do that, so I doubt that's the reason. No, it's probably just a cost benefit analysis that said unmanned drones are smaller, easier to transport, cheaper, and only need 1 operator as opposed to a 2-5 man crew. So getting more hulls on the streets was just more important then having a better tank or human shield that Batman would either find a way around or just ignore and run away from them entirely. As it is Batman stops to engage the tanks and is vulnerable in those moments when he might just flee a couple of manned tanks if he couldn't disable them quickly, so the unmanned tanks give them more opportunities to kill Batman out in the open.
@djb9267
@djb9267 Месяц назад
Batman would have to actively avoid shooting the Tanks, which would cause him to come up with a new strategy, something the batmobile wasn't meant to Do. In contrast, Batman has been fighting to not kill for his entire crusade. This isn't a restriction, because he doesn't kill his enemies
@juliosilva2301
@juliosilva2301 Месяц назад
Overall, in the Batman mythos, I always saw it as the villains don't trick Batman into killing, but try to force him to kill. The villains know that if Batman accidentally kills someone, he will work 10x as hard to make sure that doesn't happen again. But if they can force him to kill someone out of anger or desperation, then they'll know that the Bat is finally broken. Scarecrow didn't want to give Batman another scar, he wanted to breakdown Batman's core. For example, in the Dark Knight Returns, when Batman breaks the Joker's neck, he doesn't kill him, but Joker was satisfied enough that he drove Batman to the breaking point. (Pun 100% intended) Joker knew, this was the end of the Batman........ Until we got sequels!!

Batman would have picked up on the fact that the tank is manned and only damage it to the point of it being unusable like he does with cars. Not to mention AI's are lot more efficient at targeting.

It’s not like Scarecrow knows about the Joker though. You’re way off the mark. Logistically it does make sense to use drones to conserve manpower, but they could’ve mixed it up by having some manned tanks that require a different approach. That way you get the power fantasy without seemingly compromising the Knight’s competence. It’s a real shame because they almost already have this with the COBRA tanks. Just change one line of dialogue and change it to have them lock up instead of explode and there you go, no one could complain.

Or Jason wanted to defeat Batman while he’s at his strongest. He doesn’t want Batman to hold back. Also putting people inside the tanks is a stupid idea because there’s a high chance of the tanks hitting each other which risks killing the soldier inside. Also the militia doesn’t wanna be crushed by Ivy’s vines. Arkham knight already has well designed boss fights such as red hood, cloudburst, excavator and Arkham Knight chopper. And besides, the tank battles take 25 percent of the game, even without them it’s still longer than Arkham city. People can’t explain what’s wrong with the Batmobile if their lives depended on it.

@@nielsfrederiksen6636 A criminal faction taking control of Gotham doesn’t feel like Batman? That makes absolutely no sense at all. The whole point of hallucination joker is learning to let go of him and he actually does stay dead. Jason Todd was referenced at least twice in asylum. Better question.. why are tanks in this game? Garbage! Arkham Knight is my LEAST favorite in the series. “WhAt? But but but- ThE gRaPhIcS! tHe GaMePlAy!” Yes, no one is denying the graphics and gameplay are top notch, but the STORY IS ASS! A villain we all knew the identity to WAY before the game even released. Along with Scarecrow being the main villain? Who we already fought in Asylum? Why? Tanks, Tanks, and more Tanks? Boss fight with Death Stroke… IN A TANK?! Jokers blood turns people… into him?? For some reason?? Batman “dies” but it’s a takeout ending? Like WTF is this game? It’s garbage! I hate Arkham Origins almost as much, but at least the story fits together cohesively and you get a dope Death stroke, Shiva and Copperhead fight. Along with that ending beat down with the Joker, voice acting was top notch on all characters too. It definitely could’ve made improvements, but overall, I can enjoy Origins more than Knight. And I’m positive the reason Knight sucked so bad is because Paul Dini wasn’t involved with the story this time ( Paul is the one that made the story for the first 2 games, and was a writer on the 90’s Batman the animated series ) To make this comparison clear: If anyone watched Game of Thrones, George RR Martin ( the writer of the books ) was involved in the first 4 seasons of Game of Thrones, then he left, which is why each season afterwards got progressively worse and then we got the god awful last season. Paul Dini leaving the Arkham Games with Rocksteady is the same thing. And Rocksteady proved it further when they made the GARBAGE suicide squad game 🤢🤮🤮

Almost every thing you said was completely invalid. The Arkham Knight’s identity being a mystery was never the primary focus. Batman asks Barbara and Alfred to do a couple google searches and that’s it. You complained about scarecrow being the main villain because we defeated in Arkham asylum, that’s a stupid and nonsensical complaint because by this logic joker shouldn’t have been the main villain of Arkham city. Tank fights don’t even take up 30 percent of the game. If you cut them from the game, Arkham Knight is still longer than Arkham city. And on top of that Arkham Knight has far more combat and stealth encounters than Arkham city regardless. You definitely weren’t paying attention to Arkham asylum because it already established that titan causes personality changes as evident by the face that the people inject turn into unstable rage monsters with a complete loss of rationality and inability to speak. Joker when under the effects of titan is still able to speak because he’s already insane. Additionally, Doctor Young intended titan to be a formula to treat the inmates mental state so why wouldn’t have some weird effects on a person’s mind. Also in Arkham knight, Batman clearly states the titan infected blood mutated into Creutz Jakob disease because it gestated for too long. It DID NOT gestate while it was in the 4 panessa studios patient’s bloodstream, it gestated while it was in the clinical blood bags. Batman didn’t die in the knightfall ending. Anyway Arkham Knight has a way superior story than Asylum and city and people just don’t know how to criticize it.

Hugo Strange had no built up in Arkham asylum and you’re okay with him in Arkham city. A lot of villains in Arkham verse don’t receive built up at all. You didn’t explain what’s wrong with Scarecrow and the Arkham Knight. Scarecrow easily could have used his fear toxin to escape from killer croc. Joker is already insane so he’s still able to speak when under the effects of titan. Additionally, Doctor Young intended titan to treat the asylums inmate’s mental state so of course it would alter a person’s thinking patterns. Knight remains consistent with this as seen with the four patients at Panessa studios. Also Batman literally says that the titan infected blood gestated for too long so therefore it mutated into something worse. The titan infected DID NOT gestate while it was in the four patients bloodstream, it gestated while it was in the hospital blood bags.
