I don't blame her either. It's just smart and sensible to squeeze as much money as she can out of this while it lasts. My only worry is that these kids riding short waves of fame aren't going to know how to see themselves when the hype dies down. Normally I wouldn't pity anyone who made that exchange to cash in early, but considering how young some of them are, it's hard to say they appreciate how much it can fuck with your sense of self.

I think that she do want to be a musician, maybe she think is a easy thing to make song and all that implicate, and that she saw the opportunity when she become famous on tik tok, but doesn't realize that she is not an artist, doesn't have any vein in her body about it, not even the charisma that you need, and truly does not put any effort on

Right, like if you HAD to film at your mansion you can still use that as part of the story or message. Maybe emphasizing the loneliness or emptiness of it instead of just posing in various locations, or trying to say that even if you have all these nice things there’s still a void it can’t fill, lots of opportunities for prop use, etc. But it just looks like a glossy minimalist architectural digest tour or that shes bored because she forgot to decorate her house with anything remotely colorful or interesting.

these tiktokers are hella embarrassing. it’s like there’s a contract to attract fame: post everyday on tiktok, create a youtube channel, go to talk shows, start a music career then vice versa. the problem is they don’t show any passion in any of those careers, which may be a stab in heart for many talented creators who doesn’t get the recognition they deserve.

I’m still flabbergasted that dixi and her sister are actually famous without having any real effort/talent. The other sister just “arm dances” and this one sings like she’s bored out of her mind. They should just let her be free and let her go back to New Jersey and live her life because she honestly seems like she bored/annoyed to be in the spotlight. @@ColorMeIn I’m really not a Maroon 5 fan at all, if they left the music industry I wouldn’t bat an eye. BUT. You can give credit where it’s due, they’re *artists* and have proven that with a long, successful career. Working with an artist like SZA is a collaboration of two successful, thoughtful musicians who want to make good music (whether it’s actually good is subjective lol). Dixie’s feature with Wiz feels like a major cash grab, because they’d never cross paths if it weren’t for her paying him. Why would he want to work with her besides money, what has she brought the the music industry? I feel like it’s different, you know. But even still, Maroon 5 probably needs to call it a night lol.

I know this is unrelated, but people use the "tHeY dId'Nt AsK fOr ThE fAmE" excuse. If they didn't ask for the fame, wouldn't they have stopped posting a long time ago? From the 1st tiktok they did, they probably weren't/were expecting the comments. It was those comments that gassed them up to where they are. They continued to keep posting after their first TikTok, probably expecting more views now(since those comments from the first video they did boosted up their confidence because the viewer found it interesting), so you can't really say they didn't ask for the fame. They would've stopped posting if they didn't ask for the fame. This whole "they didn't ask for the fame" thing is another way of saying "You can't criticize me because I ended up getting lucky and just having fun, but oh no now I'm famous." The haters don't care if you asked for the fame or not, you still get it. Whether you asked for the fame or not, you will get criticism and hate.

for the 'happy' MV i'm having visions of her doing basically exactly the same thing, exactly the same (lack of) energy, but there's all these props moving around her and the set makes it look like she's in a setting that's supposed to be super crowded and festive but the only things actually there are her being depressed and floating props to make it look like the room is full of ghosts or invisible people. like there's an invisible birthday party going on around her and she's just sitting at the table resting her head on her hands with floating party hats and party poppers going off around her making it look like there's all those people there but she can't even see them. like she's alone in a crowded room and sad when she's supposed to be happy. or like a pep rally where she's in a cheerleading outfit and there are pom-poms moving really enthusiastically (as if moved by invisible cheerleaders) behind her but she's just standing there and maybe pathetically shaking her pom-poms every once in a while. the props could be stylistic 2d animation if that would be easier than realistic styled ones. idk i just feel like it would look really cool, like her sadness and loneliness are the only things she can perceive even in settings where she's expected to perform happiness. not sure who i expect to read this or respond to it or anything i just wanted to share my vision thanks bestie

I think Dixie’s a talented singer. She has a unique lower register, and her life story, rising to fame so quickly due to her sister, could be the inspiration for great art. My only issue with Dixie is that she lacks emotion, or conviction as Nick says. If Dixie possesses this passion for song and art as she says she does, it’s not obvious in her work.

5:06 A good movement to show the sadness without acting perse it could been showing her with no make-up, wearing pajamas, unmatching clothes or dirty clothes, etc since nobody wants to be seen or get well-dress while being sad. Another thing is using her influencer career base as showing her smiling while filming her tik toks and then looking away, completly souless and lost in her thoughts. Her family walking around the house doing normal stuff and being happy while she lays on the ground sounds interesting for me, but her family could just be letting her a bit more comfortable as a way to show their support and letting her feeling sad, but knowing people supports her anyways. Even a hug can sumbol this as she could pretend be sobbing while she is being hugged without her face being shown (kinda like Murdoc pretending be crying by facing back the camera and mimicking sobbing). So sad the director didn't had many intentions to make It look more interesting.

right?? it's almost offensive when there are so many other young people making actually good music with personality but it's dixie who gets awknowledged.... it makes me legitimately sad thinking about all the artists who exist who I'll never even locate because they aren't the cookie cutter sort of thin generically attractive white people who get pushed :/

I mean... girl, you have money, you have fame, you have everything to be successful. Just do some hard work on yourself, improve your skills and come up with own unique style. You have a chance.
