Russia is divided into 85 states, one of which is Kaliningrad; its population is about 1 million people and it occupies 15,000 square kilometers. The peculiarity is that it is strangely isolated from the rest of Russia; it is surrounded by European Union countries such as Lithuania and Poland. So to get to Kaliningrad Russians must pass through at least 2 other countries when traveling by land or they can take a ferry or a plane to cross the Baltic Sea. So, the questions are why is this territory part of Russia? why is this small region so important to Russia? And, what is the strategy Russia could use to isolate 3 NATO countries?
