Great video , I am Tim i have never worked on a diesel before and have recently bought a 7.3 power stroke and found fuel in the coolant ,,,,, after watching your video a few times i went ahead and replaced the injector cups - o rings - gaskets and new wiring with glow plugs .. all worked great and maybe better . THANK YOU SIR

My buddy had this problem and me being a mechanic I diagnosed it to be something with his injectors but wasn’t quite sure so I looked to good old RU-vid and found your video. All I have to say is keep up the good work man, great video.

Great video but don't forget to put a small piece of rag down in the cup pryer to inserting the tool to stop shavings from falling onto the piston

Great video! Your first one helped me alot. I've found you can actually leave the top 8mm bolt in that holds in the injector. Just take the bottom one out and you can move the metal bracket upward and pry it up with a breaker bar.
@FatBoy7.3Powerstroke
@FatBoy7.3Powerstroke 2 года назад
that top bolt holds the injector retainer, if it gets outta wack, you'll have problems getting the oil redirection port to match flush to the solenoid. If that bolt gets too tight, you'll have a hard time getting the bolts on because they'll end up leaning into the solenoid. If it gets too bad the bolts will not allow the oil redirection port to be tightened. Just pay attention to how tight they were before ya get too far
@APOffroad
@APOffroad 3 года назад
On the injectors you only have to remove the visible 8mm and slide the keeper up and pry up on the injector and it will come out

Hey boss, no eed to remove top bolt. Just remove bottom bolt, then slide clamp up while prying up on top of the clamp. There is a slot on clamp big enough for top bolt to slide through

I'm kind of at a loss, my dads truck has diesel in the coolant, but no smoke, overflow tank doesn't seem to be spilling. The truck has a hard time starting, it starts when its plugged in and we have error codes p0302, and p1670. The truck also has an oil leak which I can't seem to find it(might have to take off the turbo to see if its coming from the pedestal. Anyways thats another problem that I won't get too much into) Anyways we had a guy fix my dads truck and he took out the injectors, cleaned them but still has a rough start but now has diesel in the overflow tank.Before it had the same issues such as hard to start and eventually the truck just stopped turning over but it didn't have diesel in the coolant. We think he messed up, but my dad isn't the one to maintain the truck past oil changes.

Maybe try a shim kit for the solenoids and the injector solenoid plates, Those usually help with cold starts and will also extend the life of your injectors by a couple hundred thousand miles. For $60 on Ebay, It might be a cheap and easy fix without having to remove the injectors. You'd be surprised what a few hundred thousanth of an inch can do to an injector

Will bad injector cups cause the motor to overheat? My 7.3 started to not heat the cab and is blowing coolant out of the reservoir.

Hey Man, Isn't that the lower port above the oil filter on the drivers side of the block to check to see if you have forged rods or powdered metal rods? If it's a 5/16" square plug it should be forged rods, If it's shaped like a normal it should be powered metal rods. Ford did install the remaining stock of forged rods in some of the 2002 engines to utilize their inventory

@silvergrizzly316
@silvergrizzly316 4 года назад
Jay Pavlov, hey jay, years back I put a bigger turbo on my 2000 f350 7.3 and buddy that was a mistake. I decided to get on it when leaving work one evening, on the interstate and I had a puff of white smoke come out the exhaust. I didn't actually know what I had done or what I may have damaged but a couple days later I had quite a bit of oil blowing out the turbo where I had blown out o-rings. Needless to say I went thru a LOT of oil. On top of that, i noticed a whining noise coming from the turbo, b4 I took my truck to a friend to have it fixed, I decided to drop the oil plug out of curiosity, when oil was draining I was surprised by something rather large come out and plopped into oil. You could only imagine what I was feeling at that time, LOL! Idk know how but it was the thrust bearing that sits behind the thrust washer on the impeller shaft. A diesel mechanic explained to me how it happened but to this day, I'm still puzzled. And it didn't damage anything. After that I just had my stock Garrett put back on, lol. I have a tuner, cold air intake and a 4in exhaust installed. That's all I need but I just turned 200,000 miles and only problem I've ever had was a water pump and went thru about 3 camshaft positioning sensors in 20 years. Good luck my friend, hope you find your issue. 👍👍Jay.

Silver Grizzly, that’s pucker factor 3 with the smoke, then 7 with the Ka-Plop in the oil drain pan 😱 in my book... 40 years of wrenching memories and it’s only happened a couple of times, this last one was the abused Craftsman lawn Tractor that was run out of oil several times before I got it, and it went kaboom... one single Cylinder is scary in front of your Crotch... I think it was a connecting rod... imagination of course thinking about going 75MPH and that were to happen is scary... To Jay Pavlov... was it coolant in your combustion chamber???

I don’t have diesel in coolant m, I don’t have black smoke, white smoke or anything out the tail pipe. Coolant just comes out the reservoir. They told me I’m over filling it. The temps are good and oil temps are at 198. I had a oil cooler replacement and egr delete and I switched out the thermostat. I have a 06 6.0 dually f350 it has 57k miles. What do you recommend me checking?

OIl in coolant is usually a bad heat exchanger, or H.E. seals.

Why are you not recommending stainless steel cups that will likely never crack again?
@Kyle-pz7os
@Kyle-pz7os 3 года назад
I'm trying to figure out the same thing. International supply's only stainless cups, and different orings for running stainless cups. www.agkits.com/international-navistar-7-3l-powerstroke-t444e-dt466e-i530-fuel-injector-seal-kit-1830742c92.aspx#.X6Nj-mlOmNw Seems like these would be the best solution considering he mentions the quality of using industrial grade parts meant for heavy duty use.

What about the possibility of metal shavings, from the threading, falling down thru the hole in the cup into the cylinder? Not a concern? Should something maybe be put into the cup first to cover the hole?
