The Law of the Ten Commandments was so important that God personally wrote it with His own finger. Even after Moses, angry with the people, broke the two tablets of the Law, it was God who graciously wrote them again with His finger. This is a very important detail because it shows that the Law of the Ten Commandments, that is, the Moral Law, is a Law that transcends the ages and is applicable to every human being on earth. The law of the ten commandments should not be confused with the ceremonial laws that found their fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Between the two laws, the moral law remains valid until the return of the Lord Jesus. Furthermore, after receiving the Law of the Ten Commandments as well as the ceremonial laws, Moses placed the Moral Law inside the ark together with Moses' staff and a bowl of manna, but the ceremonial laws were placed and kept outside the ark. Likewise, the Laws received by Moses, both the moral one written by God and the ceremonial one written by Moses, existed long before in unwritten form, but in oral form transmitted from man to man. The proof is Genesis 26.5 where it is very clear that Abraham already respected both the Law of the Ten Commandments and the ceremonial laws 430 years before they were received and written during the time of Moses, when the Jewish people had not yet appeared. One thing is very clear to me. The majority of Christian churches consider the Law of the Ten Commandments to be annulled, but the Bible does not support this idea, on the contrary. Romans 7:12 is so clear about the moral law. How could God cancel his own Law which is holy, just and good? If anyone has the courage, answer this question

From the human point of view the explanation of the pastor is wrong, what I know is that GOD is a GOD of order. That means their must be a specific day to worship Him and that is the Sabbath period.

The ceremonial laws were nailed to the cross. The Ten Commandments are God’s moral laws. The first four commandments are for God and the other six are for man. The Sabbath is just as important for me as the other nine commandments. The Sabbath is a day for me to nurture my relationship with God and in the same vein do good for others. The Sabbath day is my favorite day of the week. You know why? I crucify self and do good for others and spend quality time with God. The Sabbath has helped me tremendously as a young Christian.

I don't agree that we don't have to obey the Sabbath because it's under the old law. The reason I don't agree is because the 10 commandments are the MORAL law that transcends culture. Every believer is bound by the moral law of God. If you are going to make that argument then it's ok to murder someone, or to steal, or to worship idols, or to be disobedient to parents. However, I think the reason that we worship on Sunday is because that's the day that Christ rose from the dead which made it holy.

I didn’t hear Dr. Bernard address the fact that Constantine changed the day of rest for Romans to Sunday before the church changed it to Sunday. Constantine did it to honor the Sun God, to which he was a worshipper. “the Lord’s Day” may very well be a reference to the Sabbath Day. Its up for debate that it was Sunday.

You can read the Bible and believe what it says or you can listen to all these men who promote observing the Catholic Sunday (1st day of the week) or we can believe What God thought was important enough to devote one of the Ten Commandments to it. It was a Commandment not a Suggestion!

Dr thanks But I want to disagree more closely with you. Ten commandments are the Law of God. Ceremonial Laws are simply Mosaic Law. Mosaic Law came to an end When Jesus was crucified on the Cross. This is why Apostle Paul says Let no one judge you in respect to Sabbath Days which belong to Mosaic Law (Colossian 2:16,17 Leviticus 23) 7 yearly sabbaths including Passover, Pentecost among others. But Jesus Christ Said when it comes to Ten commandments "it's easier for Heaven and Earth than one jot in the Law to pass away." Luke 16:17.

Wow you nailed it. Thank you so much. Even the Apostles didn't go to church on Saturday. Acts 13ff explain that the Apostles and other Jesus followers went to synagogues of un-beleivers on Saturdays. They went there to share the Good News of Jesus at risk of life and limb. What an example to us even now.

Serious question. If we don’t follow the law why do we teach tithing. Can you show us an example of tithing in action in the New Testament? We absolutely should teach giving even sacrificially but I don’t see tithing.

You need not struggle to make Sunday a day of rest. Nowhere in the Bible are Christians commanded to keep Sunday Holy. Sometimes it's better to acknowledge what you don't understand than to cook your way around it.

Dear Brother Dr. David Bernard, God bless you. I have this question: Jesus name is a Greek name. It was a Hebrew name first. Was Jesus the actual name the original NT books beard it when written in Greek? Or was it transliterated into Greek name in the process of copying? Why the early Christians did not maintain the Hebrew name? I am having a hard time with this issue. Thanks.

I think if you love Father you keep His commandments, so if Father wishes you not to the work, what I believe is meant as taking care of your worldly stuff on Sabbath, it's natural for a person who loves God to keep by Him given system of 6 days work and Sabbath rest, but Jesus explained that it's just a gift of the system for people, not something that should bind you to suffer, or prevent you doing good deeds, so Sabbath can be freely broken if necessary.

I try to work 6 days and take off 1 but the Sabbath is on Saturday in the jewish calander

This man is forgetting that the Sabbath was instituted on the 7th day of creation by God for mankind and blessed it for our sake. In Mark 2:27,28, Jesus says that the Sabbath was made for man. Christians worship 24/7 -- but only the 7th day Sabbath is kept Holy, as It's the Lord's day and forever will be in Christianity.

I read 1 Corinthians 16 . No where does it mention worship day, it was to collect donations for Jerusalem.... so every time you see 1st day of the week does it say worship ? I suggest everyone watching this video to read their Bible and put this pastor to the test.

The 10 commandments refer to the 7th day but, the 7th day is mentioned at creation when there's no Jew or gentile. God takes Himself seriously because He refers to the work of creation as He gives us the 4th commandment. This gives us an understanding as to who is the owner of creation and the law giver that we are not swept by evolution and big bang theories. Sabbath keeping is not only for going to church but to know who deserves our homage.Sunday worship is found to have been enforced by Condtantine in 321 AD. Those who worship on Sunday are giving homage to the one who introduced it as the day of worship. The venerable day of the sun. Ezekiel 8:16 Let us read the Bible prayerfully for God's salvation is individual based and entrusting pastors with our salvation is dangerous.

The 10 commandments are there for a reason. You can not do away with the 4th commandment. God knew we would forget the Sabbath day. Sunday is the day of the sun where as God asigned Saturday as the day of rest. You can talk all day with excuses to forget the 4th commandment but you are breaking the commandment if you do not hold the true Sabbath day.

What scriptures did the apostles and the early church follow, it was the law, psalms and prophets. Therefore, we shouldn't divide old from new Testaments. We do have a new covenant however, no covenant is ever abolished only fulfilled. When you say this is for Jews and that for Christians, you effectively have made a divisive practice that has unintended consequences. Neither Jesus nor the apostles made a decree this divisive. The early church never records that the sabbath was disposed because of one day that the church met. There is no pattern of Sunday church in scripture only sabbath and meetings in houses. All else is speculation and guesswork.

The question is which law Torah does not apply to the Brit Chadasha (New Testament) believers? You cannot push away all the Torah of God in the Old Testament some are applicable to the church and interspersed in the gospels and epistles. Find it out and be diligent.😊

The day of Pentecost when the Christian Church was established was the 1st day of a new week. That day is the day we call Sunday, Pentecost means 50, that day always comes after 7 weeks from Passover Sabbath Day.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. God does not change. The 7th day is the sabbath day of rest. Sunday is the first day of the week, the exact opposite of the last day. This change was instituted by roman emperor Constantine. Look it up for yourselves. Rome changed God's holy day and the whole world has followed in error. Open up the Bible and read for yourself. Learn the truth and follow no man, because only you can save your own soul.

Great discussion. It looks like the early church leaders had to conclude that the Gentile believers were not bound to keep the Law seeing that God had already accepted them by giving them the Holy Ghost the same way he had given the Jews-- Law keepers-- the Holy Ghost. Thanks!

There is no justification from the Bible for worshipping on Sunday apart from it coming from the mind of men. If God said He set that day based on his rest after working for six days and blessed it, then we see that it can not change based on the reason it was created. If we say we can worship god any day, it means we are worshipping different god not that of the Bible. Based on the saying that the law was given to Jews this idea is baseless because there is no special Bible for gentiles, we are all using the same Jews Bible.

The Catholic Church, … by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday” (The Catholic Mirror, official publication of James Cardinal Gibbons, Sept. 23, 1893). One true Sabbath, Saturday, choose wisely. Jesus said if you love me keep my commandments. He didn't say it's ok to only keep nine.
