The day 1 player thing is real. Most of the harsh genshin critics are actually just long time players that got burned over time due to the game not really changing.

I started Genshin during the patch Navia was released, I've played a few gacha games before, and after playing for a few months and especially after that 3rd anniversary shenanigans, i immediately quit, that game does not care for their player base at all

day 1 players remember the amount of bug at launch. we even have a joke to guess how much primo gem they will gave us for every new bug found (at some point, they stop giving out primogem for bug fix) we remember how weirly every npc pronounce Liyue diffrently, we even make joke about it, but now everyone seem to think Genshin have the perfect voice acting without any flaw we remember how the first fight with Devalyn at Monstrad is just you awkwardly flying on your glider while shooting beam out of your face we remember Kaeya character quest is just him tricking us to look for a fake treasure that end extreamly anti climatic we remember the final boss of the Monstrad act is just an abyss mage we remember about people complain how the amount of Resin cap is too low we remember the "content drought" that make people so mad that some threathen to quit the game, and some did we remember how when Zhongli come out, and was the undisputed best shielder support in the game, and people still say he is underpowerd (as dps), so they buff him, despite many people warning that this might cause extream power creep latter on, and it did we remember the first co-op event was so buggy, that many people cant do it with their own frioends, not to mention random people. Genshin is not the perfect game people "remembered" it to be.

Did GI players forget about the 120 Stam cap when the game first came out? How nobody could pronounce Liyue in EN? CO-OP being so laggy it was horrendous? First Event being CO-OP AND costing Stamina? As a GI First day player, they are mostly talking out of their ass by comparing 4 years of development after release to the few weeks of WuWa. WuWa is currently in a better spot than GI will ever be... because GI WILL NEVER. Yea... The hostile GI Fans are brain damaged.

As asmongold said, people are already invested (time/money) in genshin, and having a new successful game coming out would make them think they wasted their time It's sunk cost fallacy mixed with tribalism

I'm gonna be honest i didn't hate Genshin the game itself at first, BUT the Hoyo fanbase as a whole, loud minority or not made me absolutely HATE any Hoyo games. I truly don't want to interact with any of them or the compagny. It's often like this, the bigger the fanbase is, the more toxic it become too.

genshin stan hate everything that has possibility to compete with them or similar with them. this is the timeline of their hatred. - they hate tof even before their glb launch because it looks similar with genshin, "open world gacha game". the hate was so crazy that they attacked everyone who play their glb beta. they made random misinformation about "genshin killer" which apparently made by genshin cc in CN (dude sued by hotta and lost). even they went to gateoo channel (tof CC, the biggest one) and doompost his channel and even told him something like "why you still play this trash game? play better game like genshin" - they hate hsr because they thought it might compete with genshin. even honkai 3rd community tried to gatekeep them from playing hsr because they didn't want any toxicity in honkai franchise from genshin community (it was also because after 1st genshin anniversary drama that they 1star rating honkai 3rd) - they hate project mugen because it looks like genshin but urban setting. eventhough they felt "threatened" they unable to dismiss how PM looks very promising. nevertheless they still kept bringing netease again and again but apparently they also confused between netease and netmarble - they hate wuwa simply because it looks like genshin and it's genshin copy but better. considering how current state of genshin, now wuwa has people who actually defend it despite attack here and there not like back in tof where it was genshin prime and people just shtting on tof without any reason (on tof world chat, there was a lot of genshin doomposters and toxic)

Jinhsi dragons in her splash art HAVE PURPOSE. Yinlin is super flashy like triple keqing. (Keqing was all burst) Yes, they are copying hoyos homework on a lot of things but hey, it's refinement. Just look at the movement system and if you don't agree you can fukk off because you're a shill.

Seeing the game you invested a huge chunk of time (and maybe also money) and knowing it's the most popular gacha game out there, there's this "assurance" that you can you can keep on playing this relevant game, and you know you're in this "safe space" with a ton of content creators that keeps the game alive. But when another gacha game even creeps close to this "safe space" of yours, you're inclined to defend your safe space, without even checking out this new thing that is supposedly "killing" your game. At this point, it's not about which is the better game, it's like picking your favorite K-pop band and sticking to them no matter what while not giving even a glance to other bands which also did as much effort, or even sometimes more. At the very least, this is how I see these people that keeps on blindly defending Genshin that cannot accept why some people actually likes Wuwa more.

I also see alot of people who say they are day 1 players (as am I) more critical of hoyo games or atleast bring up better points. As a long time Hoyo player still palying HI3, GI, and HSR along with WuWa... holy shit the Hoyostans have gotten toxic and braindead af. Long story short, HI3's monetization system/design got washed down the drain. Now that part 2 is out, all the part 1 Valks are pretty much useless. Imagine Fontaine coming out and every character, standard banner or limited banner, 4 star or 5 star, are all useless in Abyss outside of the new Fontaine characters. Worst is, NONE of the Part 2 teams function without 1 SINGULAR LIMITED TIME S rank (5 star) character, Sena. Basically imagine the same theoretical Fontaine situation, but now no teams work if you don't have Furina. You pull Arlecchino, or Clorinde, or Neuvilette, you can't play any of them because their damage is trash unless you have Furina. When I mentioned this on Reddit, be it, I got more up votes than downvotes, but for those replying, 90% of them was like "HI3 was always like this" no the fuck it wasn't. Heavy reliance on one major support sure but it was never NOT A SINGLE TEAM WORKS WITHOUT THIS ONE CHARACTER. "Well she's the main character what'd you expect?" I expect her to be obtainable for free then like Herrscher of Origin Raiden Mei if teams REQUIRE her to function and you're releasing 5+ brand new S ranks (5 stars) back to back to back without any grindable ones or reruns (which was common before part 2). Even that analogy is underplaying it because Genshin has an overworld and Abyss is by yourself, you're racing a clock against yourself, no one else. HI3 has nothing but endgame combat content, and that content is PvEvP, meaning you're racing the clock against OTHER players. So not only do you have to pull the character (btw they removed soft pity from 75 and dropped hard pity from 100 to 90 meaning on average you're doing 10-15 MORE pulls), you have to pull all the weapons and gear too, and those have trash pity as well. Like the entire community is so braindead looped in that they can't see how predatory everything is and defending Hoyo like "it's normal." Not to mention the entire appeal of HI3 was the amazing animated shorts and music the game puts out. Nope, that's gone too. Seele's Herrscher Awakening? Good song, shitty in-game graphics and no animation. Budget for animated shorts will now be moved to GI and HSR, sad but Hoyo is throwing out HI3 and it's stupid how Hoyo stans are still defending them while simultaneously getting absolutely shafted.

Doesn't help that the WuWa reddit is full of doomposts and regurgitated problems that consistently get upvotes. So many posts about the echo issue like the devs didn't come out with a long post detailing they are going to change it. These people just want to try and cause discourse within the community so Hoyo is the sole company that can make a good game.

Tried Nikke very recently and obvious fan service aside, it is actually pretty fun. Also the OST slaps, so thats a bonus.

From my experience this isn't something specific to only Genshin. People from the popular game's fanbase hating on the upcoming gaming in the same genre is pretty common. Basically they're just insecure. When a game gets very popular there will be people who jump on the bandwagon only because of its popularity. So when a new game comes out in the genre and gets a lot of attention, these people will go feral and start attacking it so that it don't take the top spot. They feel like the time and money they spend on the game is wasted if its no longer popular. These are the type of people who jerk off to seeing genshin at the top of monthly revenue chart.

Even just yesterday, when the genshin 4.8 patch pre-calculated primogems amounting to 48 limited pulls, the comments was so weird as how they downvoted their fellow players for asking why so few pulls and then they gang up on those fellows by so many comments. It is just too sad, that Genshin Fanbase is 😢

Day 1 GI player, I can confirm that "boomers" don't love the game that much anymore, Even the lore... 1300+days of playing burned out my desire for it's lore, it's still at nothing, like: Who's the bad guys in Genshin? I started playing Genshin in January of this year, and I love WuWa lol you don't even have to be a day 1 to see all the problems with Genshin, and don't get me wrong I still log in and play and do the story quests but ever since i started playing HSR a few months ago and now WuWa I have been able to see that Genshin is not the best of the best and definitely needs improvements, I personally love the story I know some people think its boring but that is the ONLY reason i keep playing lol, I don't even spend money on Genshin anymore because I just don't think that its a good enough game (gameplay wise) for me to invest in.

I don't really agree about the boomers (oldies, pioneers) being the ones dickriding hoyo and hates others from over achieving, more like they are the ones complaining the longest, got tired the most and just like you said, are the ones deprived of the QOL players right now are experiencing (if there are any) and probably just moved on. These stans are the year 1 to 2 players where they have so much content to do, loves the game and gets blinded the vast tasks ahead that they haven't experienced the drought, the lack of content vets do. They are swayed by the negativity of the minority of other game's fanbase and they feel attacked when their game is criticized, copied (but better) and not the best anymore.

Played Genshin on launch, quit on the 1st anniversary. I'm a day 1 gi player, been there when the first anni drama happened. And yeah, stand for gi won't make the game better. If you really love the game than you want it to be better. Most of the time those gi stand are f2p players that are happy enough that the game is free yet they forget hoyo need money for the game to keep going. Literally one of the things my animation teacher taught me in school was "good artists copy, great artists steal". People act like saints saying copying bad, when people do it all the time. As a day 1 player of Genshin, i quit after Inazuma (some days before Raiden's banner i think) i just got disappointed by the story (that was the only thing that kept me at Mihoyo's mercy in the cold mines lmao), when you start playing, SPECIALLY if it's the first game you play of the genre, it's like the best thing in the world, what SAO games should be. But then you realize how it's gonna be and just quit playing or accept your fate, that's all there is to it

Regarding early day players and newer players for genshin, newer players have experienced less of the bad side of genshin impact. This means newer players experienced less bugs and optimizations issues because the game is already established. This is why i think these types of players are more "toxic" because they havent been with genshin since day 1 and made an assumption that the game had no problems in the start. I was "kinda" a day 1 genshin player. When it launched my samsung s9 had so much trouble running the game: stutters like hell, my phone would overheat, and the textures wouldnt load properly. After a few weeks i dropped the game because i didnt want to break my phone. I came back to genshin when the golden apple archipelago update arrived and the mobile experience was much better. But of course wuwa is experiencing the same problems and are not given the same treatment at all. I can write even more but dont want to turn this comment into a novel XD

i been playing genshin since day 1 and i lost the desire to play because the devs are mean to the community and not cool and the game has so many issues. wuthering waves just put the nail in the coffing. i had a cool acquaintance i have on PSN that i had been playing games with since the pandemic including genshin and they randomly asked if i was playing wuthering waves, i later realised because i have not played genshin with them for almost a month they put 2+2 together but when i told them "yes" and I said should try wuthering waves, they changed and got upset. they said "don't do this" and when i asked what they meant they said "your hurting the genshin community" which i found bizarre and i don't like being told what to do and we had an intense disagreement that day i realised how fragile our PSN friendship was, we don't talk anymore

wuwa players can still enjoy and watch genshin story in youtube. no need to play the game cause the game is basically anime with 3-5 new episode every 6months. no need to argue ok GENSHIN SLAVES keep climbing that mountain and SWIPE to use a character that will increase your exploration. keep your calendar on and make sure to set an alarm on which day to farm for this specific items. we wuwa players can farm ANYTIME. we will summon our slave pokemons to gather materials and vroom vroom using our lava bike

remember hacker issues in genshin there are a whole thread on reddit every single day peoples account getting hacked and when you asked hoyo and just happened that the hacker put money on your account you cant get your account back even if you have all the info about your account, for hoyo money above eveything. what a shitty company.

Day 1 genshin player that fucked off around 3.5 and came back like 2 weeks ago to play with a friend at their request. I am only so critical of Genshin because I see its potential to be great, but that potential is held back by the dev team's repeated disrespect of their players and refusal to improve upon the foundation they've created. Instead their focus seems to want to be the gacha equivalent of Mario Party; it's maddening.

If you like a game and play it enough you should be aware of its shortcomings more than anyone else so usually they are the ones that are more critical and maybe can even be perceived as negative or "hater" by some people While on the other hand, people who are too positive and even wage war for the billion dollar company are usually people who like the game a lot but are not aware or unwilling to admit to its shortcomings (most likely cuz lack of experience to compared to their experience with the game) and only focusing on the positive side while attacking other for giving constructive criticism for the betterment of the game and putting any negative opinion about the game and the dev in the same basket as a toxic or hate comment. For me personally, I played Genshin for 4 years, I love it, and I don't regret spending time and money on the game as I was enjoying my time with it but I'm more than aware of how stingy Hoyo is on top of all of the new update and content are mostly limited time event with a lack of end game or any long term content, in general, making me sad. I love the world, the music, and the characters and I build so many different characters and teams (45 lvl 90 chara with lvl 9-10 talent) but there is nowhere to use them. Combat events are like once or twice every patch and those lasted 30 minutes or so on top of Abyss reset every two weeks which is also about 30 minutes to clear at most. The overworld is beyond easy and the reward for exploration is pisspoor despite the game is build around it. QoL update is beyond slow and some never make it in the game after the player requests it for 4 years (artifact loadout, by now almost all of my chara have their own artifact but different teams/builds still need to switch them out smh my head) Wuthering Waves in comparison is such a breath of fresh air, not in the game itself but in the dev and how they handle criticism and their willingness to listen and have conversation with their player. The game feels very similar to Genshin in almost every way but with unique Combat system and amazing QoL on day one. Yes, it is more buggy than genshin at launch but the game is improving and it is very apparent that the dev are listening and then doing something about it either the very next day with a hotfix or making the player base aware that they are working on a fix and deploying it on major update like 1.1 patch. edit: Some criticism for WW to balance things out. I find WW music to be rather lacking, some of them are decent but most of them are meh especially compared to their previous title PGR. Most people either use PGR music or even Genshin or other games like DMC OST instead of Wuwa OST in their showcase and it fits so well. Even non-SSR chara have a whole ass OST theme in PGR and they sound fckin amazing. Oh and despite rewriting and changing the story I still find the majority of the early game to be super boring that I skip most of them. The English VA quality is a mixed bag, even the JP VA isn't that good. The translation quality is terrible (where tf is the QC!?) But other than that I love it.

Day one players are playing WuWa because it's what we've been waiting for for YEARS.

I started playing Genshin on the PS4 at around a month or 2 after initial release… it was pretty stable on it, no mayor issues… the reason I did not play it constantly up to version 2.4 is due to my own personal time. Now… I did play WuWa first on mobile… and I was one of the few that was blessed with a stable experience on mobile… This stopped as soon as I moved to PC… and I am still having a few crashes up to this day. I don’t hate WuWa and I am looking forward to continuing the story… but it still needs to be optimize. Note: I did not see something wrong in terms of the rewards in Genshin since most of the Gatcha’s I’ve played have been pretty bear bones in terms of rewards… Don’t get me wrong I am happy with the amount of rewards HSR and WuWa give (free stuff is always good), but I never expect every game to be that generous due to my luck in Gatcha’s… which is why I mostly stayed free to play on most free to play games🤔

This isn't new, this happened with tower of fantasy and now it's happening with weathering waves. Anything that resembles genshine in any way is considered a genshine killer is hated.

Genshin boomer, near Day 1 player, here. My friends and I have been all critical of hoyo ever since the beginning, yet we still played for years. We're enjoying wuwa now, but we still go to genshin just to do comms and events for primos.

If you’re more gameplay than story, you won’t enjoy Nikke. You spend more time going through menus and story than you do actually playing the levels and there’s very little difference from all the fights. You’re either fighting trash mobs or doing a boss battle. Boss battles are very fun but there’s no reason to play a boss level more than once. You’re okay if you want to skip Nikke

Competition breeds innovation. Wuthering Waves being successful can only be good for Genshin players. Assuming Hoyo wants to keep making money from Genshin. 🙄 People either don't understand this or have invested so much of their life into one video game that the idea of their game - their *life* - becoming obsolete terrifies them.

Coming from a lot of Gacha games back when genshin was released, I had really high hopes for it, the game had potential and it was the first of its kind, I finished mondstadt and lyiue and was spamming domains waiting for dragonspine. It was fun and I have met tons of people in that game just helping out new players. The first anniversary was so dogshit that I joined the reviewbombing on the playstore and still was disappointed after the shit rewards we got but still, there was no other rpg like genshin to play. I took 2 more years of getting cucked until the 3 wish incident where I just uninstalled, I will never support hoyoverse in any way no matter what game they make.

TBF, no game deserve hate but the logic is: If people start hating on Genshin after WW released, it's not surprising if they're hating back on WW, isn't it? It's unavoidable.

You should try Nikke 300%. that game is so much more than fanservice (every gacha game has its levels of fanservice) The story is amazing, the BGM f*king slaps, the gameplay may look too easy but in late game became really hard, the events are really nice, and the gacha system is one of the most generous. I'm playing it since January and I already have 75 over 100 SSR characters (5 stars) in the game, completelly free to play

Genshin blatantly copied Zelda. No, it wasn't "inspired", it straight up copy-pasted creatures, landscapes, and mechanics from that game.

I remember when i was searching for chests because the game was fun, but there was nothing else to do… and then we wanted to go to Inasuma.. but we got a shitty cold mountain and everyone without a Bennet, was having looooots of fun with this never again used weather mechanic ^^. Kinda late and on the generation topic but for me (born in 2004 so im gen z i think) the worst part of "generation wars" is that i get labeled based on when i was born, which is kinda retarded, but for me i dont like to be placed on a group of people cuz both sides get good points and bad points, i just go for what i like. Nikke is a very story focused game. The gameplay itself is fun to me because its basically a glorified aim trainer with aboba and butts, but its also pretty much a numbers game if you want to progress more.

I think these type people who are defending Genshin are already brainwashed into loving Genshin is because they have invested themselves completely into this game sentimentally and cannot separate themselves from it with even it's flaws...and when players from Genshin move to Wuwa and enjoy it more they feel their investment in Genshin attacked or in danger because they can not detach themselves from that part of their life into something new

As a day one genshin player who's still loving Wuwa and basking in the excitement of competition breeding improvements. This is great, Genshin needed to get knocked off their throne. This should be nothing but W's for both communities and Idk why people could even be upset right now.

from the looks of it, the most die-hard genshin defenders aren't around in patch v1.x, they only played after Inazuma or even later, in Sumeru or Fontaine.

I am a 1.0 player, and I spent thousands of dollars and hours on Genshin. I agree Genshin needs tons of improvements even still to this day, but I won't talk trash about any other game or defend it lol.

All HOYOVERSE games have one thing in common: "whalling" 🤑 You can clear all contents easily by paying $, drinking the hardest boss HP like water. surprisingly, this is not the case for Kuro games. Max out the characters does mean you beat the Boss. You have to pull out your skills also. I saw Rexlent (on of the top PGR CC) struggling despite having the characters at full power.

28:19 you can just copy your main gear to your new character and ask a friend or guild member to get u to lvl 61 in like 40 min in bdo (or do it yourself in like 4 hours+-), but the problem is not the gear but the fact that in genshin you have like 2 skills while in bdo a character will take u a week or more just to learn the basic, but hey u can at least try the character for free how long u want u dont need to buy it like in genshin, but i guess we have different preference bcs i am someone that liked to play on one character even in genshin so i have no problem in bdo on my sorc ♥ My main issues with genshin is there is no content to do after a month (yeah i am not casual but also not a hardcore player) I cant even say i am playing genshin, bcs login for 10 min a day (at max) is not playing a game ^-^ Just my opinion

Was Day 1 player and left during Inazuma. Gameplay became stale and story was just ok to me. I like the character design to a point, but i appreciate the art and combat in Wuthering Waves better. Just need better echo system, better story, and a little more ways to earn money lol

I'm a day 1 player and I still love the game, but I'm also a casual, I always have to speed run the events on the last days, and I consume the story through watching let's plays at 2 times speed, altho I watch everything at two times speed, except anime episodes. But I also multi task a lot and end up wasting too much time so I can't focus on just playing the game, most of of my characters are underleveled, but that's my fault for not doing the minimum amount of grinding.

Day 1 Genshin player here. Played until the most recent "3 years 3 wishes" fiasco. I fully burned out and quit there. I'd been having issues with the game for a while, but I kinda wanted to see how the story played out and at the very least collect all the archons... but after the "3 wishes" incident I just said enough is enough and quit. The lack of meaningful combat content. The obnoxious relic rng. Poorly designed characters (Xinyan, Dehya, etc.). Lack of generosity or giving back to their playerbase. I'm now having fun with WuWa's combat, though we'll see if the echo system burns me out in the long run...

Day ZERO Genshin player here(Was into the concept of Genshin before anyone really knew what the game was) Also was one of the first players to log into the server too, Lowkey never saw the hype and got annoyed with the game after awhile and never looked back. I did 100% everything that was available in the game within the first month or so, Anyone who is talking like Genshin is this holy grail game is just coping hard!

It's really easy for someone that's an expert in a field (or has a ton of hours experience with something, like playing a game) to instantly point out when a review isn't being fair. This is also evident when you observe someone that doesn't have a passion for the subject they are talking about... making a review after 10 hours is such a joke (even the IGN review after 30-40 hours was like 20% complete ffs)

reality is, they're all gacha games people are fighting over which glorified slot machine parlor serves the better appetizer sandwiches but i am curious which happened first, genshin cultists hating on wuwa or wuwa cultists hating on genshin players that being said, remember to like and subscribe the gacha advertisers that tell you the things that justify your feelings and to spend your money on the game to fight against the people you hate!

as an ex cod player that recently moves to rainbow six, it is actually very true, at first i play it like call of duty and i loss a lot, by what i mean is, i never win a single gun fight, never contribute anything, but after sometime, i learnt that the game mechanic is very more indepth than call of duty that is blindly running around and shooting on sight

As a day 1 GI player, I gotta say GI is just a shit with their lack of content as what the stans are saying now. Back then, horrible interface, horrible qol, tons of bugs, etc. Why do these clowns constantly cherry pick 4 years worth of positive updates onto a less than 6 months old game? I know its sad and depressing to be playing GI but come on... seek help man.

I play both, but the winner is me, because of wuwa release, genshin give 200 resin, more reward from abyss,QoL update and for wuwa is become like genshin because your stamina limiting progress your account , after that i am just play normal games without any stamina or competitive games

I stopped after Hu Tao came out, stopped for a while then came back at the end of sumera, game is pretty fun. tried WuWa, its good but prefer Genshin the art style is more appealing and the characters are just better to me, maybe they will bring out other characters but Genshin just has good stories and good characters for me so will stay with it, play both but only Genshin daily.

I'm a near day 1 player. Genshin is trash that people are too delusional to give up because nothing was as easy to get into or play and they've spent too much on their waifu to say the truth. Having played plenty of other games and getting into WuWa I can definitely say while it has issues like any game not fully cooked it's overall better than Genshin rn and it's only gonna get better
