This gave me a great idea to get the inside and outside texture for Aburaage like the packaged ones. I hope this works.

all you have to do is cut it in 6 or 8 pieces and train it. put it in a plastic baggie and freeze it till it's frozen. put it in the refrigerator and it will thaw then squish each piece and you're done takes minutes

Hi, I usually put the pressed tofu in the freezer in the morning, pulled this out from the freezer at night and I let it thaw overnight ☺️

the first time you freeze it you can marinate it in something giv it that chicken flavor👌🏽😌

It looks so good! If I find this type of tofu I have to try. Doesn't it lose nutrients though?

Thank you! Don't worry,this process only removes the excess liquid from it, not the actual tofu material :) happy cooking!

I live near a hyvee and sprouts and walmart. Some brands remain spongy even after freezing. Which brands have you had luck with? And are they found in any of the stores i listed above? Thanks

I’m surprised about the second round of freezing: I thought you could never do that with any food because it will allow bacteria to more easily get into your food at second defrosting. Can anyone explain why this multiple freezing and defrosting is actually no problem?

What kind of tofu do you use? because I have tried it many times and I am not able to get that texture. I think the tofu I've been using is firm

Hi,it depends on your region, some tofu labeled as soft tofu, soft firm tofu, silken are good fpr this recipe

Some firm tofu are still good with this, but now with extra firm
