Amen, brothers and sisters. My former employer of 35 years should take note. They used to do upward evaluations but stopped that practice at the onset of a major merger and did not pick it back up. My current employer thanks my former employer for their oversight.

Recently had three bosses within 1 year. New Bosses got input from Old Horrible Bosses so the cycle continued over and over again. Each new Boss was just as bad if not worse than the predecessor.

Doesn't help that leaders higher narcissists same with HR. That's why they also get promoted. Then they can do the favourite game then pick those same people to bring up to their leve. Its infuriating. Sadly in my industry its far too common

It is really common unfortunately. And there are also plenty of companies with great leaders and HR, I just wish that was the rule and not the exception.

It seems inevitable that incompetent leaders get promoted at some companies. It also seems that in some companies those types also don't last long. Bad news is that they do move along and get promoted until they reach their level of incompetence.

Peter Principle, it’s true. Hopefully people like this either get trained earlier on and increase their skills, or don’t move up but you’re right it is inevitable on some levels:)

I like the work. I stock Walmart overnight, but current and newly self appointed or appointed managements are not so competent. Many of them take attitude of ' shoot first, ask questions later', but I say, if everyone is shot to death, who will answer any questions from these managers. Many managers like to instruct don't care wether it's reasonable or not, most don't like to be asked any question even though it's job or store related issues, such as placement of merchandise. All of them don't know the store, what the store sell, if a customer ask for a merchandise, all don't know what's in the store it's located.

You are a better man then me. 😎👍 I would have opened the book and said, " Brass knees and never breaking eye contact, is how they move up."

I had a horrible boss then he was posted to another place. i thought my nightmare was over. the incoming boss was even more scheming. at one point, I thought I was the problem... 2 bosses and I am still unhappy ... was I the problem? To confirm that, I decided to leave to join another organisation. now, I can say my new boss is way better. but I also noticed one thing about my colleagues. some of them pertually unhappy - I can say that no matter who the boss is, they will never be happy. hence, there are other factors at play too when such unhappiness happen. the feedback part is real. I really dun understand why organisations ask us for feedback for these big bosses but it seems like a paper exercise. all I see are the staff and middle-management getting the scolding for the big bosses' lack of leadership. but hey good video.

Alwin, it sounds like you applied some solid self awareness to the situations you were in, but it’s unfortunately all too common to get stuck in the “bad boss loop.” Glad you found a better situation for yourself, and a better boss! Thanks for checking out the vid :)

Unfortunately, incoming Boss will get input from outgoing Boss and most likely if the old Boss didn't like you for some reason, he will most likely gaslight you and the cycle continues. That is what happened to me. The new Bosses were friends with the old Bosses so nothing changed.

Connections of current BOSS or RACE/SKIN COLOUR is main reason why BAD BOSSES GET PROMOTED!

I am no SJW but this unfortunately is still the case. Woke Companies nowadays racially diversify their teams by hiring cheap labor overseas. It is liberal hypocrisy at its finest

Yep, I think that's true for a lot of companies. There's a lot of orgs out there doing just about everything wrong, it's baffling to see.

I came here to see your statement after a long day with an incompetent team lead who blames shift all problem to the most wise, fast, and accurate one (me). She refuses to coach the lazy argumentative ones whom she kisses their buttocks. 😂

That sounds super stressful, sry that you're experiencing that. There are unfortunately a lot of poorly equipped leaders, and far too many companies that aren't intentional enough to find out and improve or remove leaders like that. I hope that things improve or that your next role or workplace is more awesome for you:)

In toxic, garbage cultures yes. In healthy cultures, no one keeps score of who’s winning - people are trying to help others win.

What way is “how” they keep getting organized? You’re blaming the subordinate staff for not saying anything to “powers that be”. That already know that, that authoritarian is the problem??!! Or if they don’t know - when you bring it to their attention, they won’t do anything about it!
@GalenEmanueleShiftYes
@GalenEmanueleShiftYes 4 месяца назад
Nope, it is not the subordinate staff that is to blame, it is the organization that doesn't have a system in place of assesing and gathering feedback about leaders to assess whether or not they are any good. The blame rests solely on the organization and top leadership for promoting people without any checks and balances or way to know if they're actually horrible:)
