The Koi Partner how should I feed my koi in aquarium that it develop eggs ? Its 3 year old and male chase her but she doesn't lay egg and she doesn't have big belly
Many individuals commonly believe that a transparent pond provides an ideal habitat for koi fish, whereas carps thrive and develop in muddy surroundings. Enjoyed watching the video!
I have a red and white koi, that has lived in my 5 acre lake for 10 years or so. We call him the whale as he has grown into a giant. He shares it with large mouth bass, minnows, bluegill and catfish. Not to mention the turtles and frogs that live there. When ever someone sees him they are not sure what they're looking at. He was thrown out there with 5 or 6 different colored companions. Were not sure where the others went to.
im a dog person but idk why fishes give me this relaxing feeling or maybe because my father use to have Asian Arowana when i was young i get to use to seeing fish swimming around
I live on a private lake and have a 3000 gallon koi pond. We pump water from the lake to the pond over waterfall and then it flows back out into the lake. So it's always getting fresh water pumped into it. Currently we have 200 koi in the pond six large ones and the rest medium to small size. They grow fast. I have to keep a net over the pond to keep the blue herons out.
I’ve been watching this for a few days and have become mesmerized with the time and care of these beautiful fish. I’ve even picked out several from different farms lol. Thanks for the videos, keep it up.
I had a natural mud pond in my house in Florida and would buy the koi at Petco small and they would get so big and beautiful after a while. Now I understand why...
I Have Kohaku, Slayer, Ogon, Matsuba, etc. It's very comfortable playing with them and watching them swim happily I hope they are always healthy and can accompany me until I get old
I did not know I had an interest in these amazingly beautiful fish until I watched one of your videos, now I can't get enough of them. I have a lot of questions but I'm sure you will answer them all if I watch more of your videos. Thank you for your time and information. I have subscribed. Cheers from Australia. :)
I am amazed that general Koi owners would be mortified to see their water look this murky! Yet, this is exactly what allows them to grow with the proper nutrients of the soil in Japan! Astounding. You answered my question of why they grow so large in a mud pond! Thanks
I put koi in our outdoor natural pond, it’s not line it’s in ground and they were 3” when I put them in there and now they are over 12” I can’t believe how much they’ve grown! Just amazing!
I live in the northern regions of USA. And we have excessive snow here and blizzards during the winter months. Pretty much all the same time as japan I have a few Koi that I would definitely like to grow out like this during the summer time. And yes, it does get pretty hot. Most likely will try and simulate a koi mud pond using melted snow water from the winter and the same clay they have in the mud ponds in japan with a bit of aeration and floating plants for ammonia and nitrate control.
This kind of solves what I had been wondering! The largest koi I have seen are housed in muddy and turbid lakes or ponds. Those that I have encountered in clear ponds seems to be smallish in appearance.
Thank you for the wonderful info and videos! I had rebuilt a small inground pond while taking care of my mother, but the raccoons demolished it. SO I took the cover off of her old swimming pool and tried Rosy reds and some 10 cent feeder fish to see if they would survive. Now it is 18 years later and one of the feeder fish happened to be a koi. She is now about 2 feet long ! I have an assortment of koi, comets, frogs, a red eared slider( he appeared about 18 years ago, too). It is a joy to have them all there. I turned 80 this year and plan on willing them to my daughter!
Here in North Yorkshire in the UK there is a small duck pond. Someone put some Koi in it at one point and they just live wild. They are up to 1m long in size and look unreal how big they have gotten.
I know this may be a silly question, what maintainer would be done on the ponds during the koi’s time in the mud pond? Or are the mud ponds created then koi just go in as simple as that and taken out when necessary?
it because they are not exploiting enviroment, the breeding method goes with natural enviroment, hence it needs longer time (>3 yrs) until it can be farmed.
hi i have just started feeding my koi with Kenko Ultimate Koi and Kenko Health & Vitality. i also think your video are great and the fish to keep up the great work
Hi, I have a 4000gal pond and am currently using 3 55gal drums for my filter system. The first drum has flocor media, the second has K1 (both for machanical filtration), the third has K1 and K1 micro for biological filtration with air rotation. It’s time to upgrade to a more efficient system. What system would you recommend. If you could suggest an high end and a medium range that would be most appreciated
Yes they get big in dirt ponds we raised them in 1/4 1/2 to 1 acre ponds . And it is a very labor intense process to sort through thousands of. 1 -3 inch fish looking for the right patterns and colors
Game & Music i read this story back then that koi used to be humongous and japanese/chinese people if im not mistaken, see them as a divine animal and bring fortune if you take care of them
I love Koi. How I wish I can make my own pond in the Philippines. Particularly in Davao City. Thank you very much for sharing your skills with us! I love it!!!
Hello! I have like 30 Koi Carps( majority are small like 4-5 inches). I wanted to see their journey from their childhood. I have kept them in a natural mud pond. Its very deep and quite big for them. Do you think i should add minerals or vitamins externally? In all honesty, they seem quite happy and stress free. I have even added a net to keep them away from potential predators like snakes and herons.
Hello __, well not at all. But I get your point. The Koi breeders try to let them grow with their health as most important factor. So they let them grow slower to prevent health Issues.
I used to raise really big koi...aimed for perfect water permaters and started my first worm farm with compost worms to feed the koi. Worked wonders....and they gobbled up any organic vegetables and fruits I threw in. Miss piggy was 37 inches last time I measured.
Spoiler: The fish that was selected to grow well in its environment grows well in its environment. Anyway lol, this video was really interesting, thanks for posting!
I really enjoy your videos, I wanna ask is it a good idea to build a concrete pond facility, to grow japan imported koi from tosai into jumbo koi? looking forward for your answer Dafa,Indonesia
The koi Colors are amazing, they look so clean an crisp. I thought that because their environment is dark and muddy that their colors would reflect that.
I do water change every day and I have a 3-foot blade as well putting air into the pond and two big air stones in my pond, so do you think that will help my KOI fish to grow as well do you think, and my pond is 12 ft by 8 ft by 6 ft, and it is 2, 500 Gallons so how many KOI do you think I can have in my pond do you think.
@@TheKoiPartner that's awesome I want to try various methods to raise tilapia carp on Basa. So any growing method if different could give me an advantage
Hello from Los Angeles ! 😊 Thank - you for this very informative and great video - subscribed !!! Wishing you tremendous success with your channel and looking forward to your videos so i can learn more and more about these wonderful animals 😊💖👍 !!
My Koi is very small. I always imagine it as a very cute and soft sound character 😊 But a “REALLY BIG KOI” calling me dad? Imagine saying “Papa” in the Most Manliest way possible that can describe it 😱😅
Feels like koi would be a rather nice thing to be reincarnated as.. You're given a big safe area away from predators, fed frequently, and admired as a decorative animal by humans.
Hello Aquatic Dude, sure! If there is enough oxygen supply and fresh water it is possible. Offcourse there needs to be food supply natural or given by humans. Just like carp they could live in most of the open waters. Cheers Yvo
Hello Dramatic Carry, the best Koi Food I can advise is Hikari or ProBites. Just feed them according to the tempratures in your country. All food suppliers will have a good schedule for you if you ask or look at their website.
@The Koi Partner Maybe you already answered this question in the middle of hundreds comments here...(?) In the report, you present that the koi ponds are fill in with "ice-cold meltwater ", and then explain that the clay bring minerals and vitamins. May I have to understand that Koi carps are raised in low KH - GH water (due to pure ice origin water) and minerals are brought in the food with the clay carps found in the pond? If so, how they manage the potential pH fluctuations it can occur in low KH ponds? Thanks for this channel I just discovered ;-)
Johnson Gotamco azukari is at your OWN risk. Some breeders replace the Koi if it dies in the first year. It also depend on the relationship you gave with the breeder
