I used to own a truck (2016-2018) I financed it with Daimler Truck Financial. Truck and trailer. Started with Landstar, then got own Authority. What I learned was that DEBT makes you a slave. (Proverbs 22:7) and when you only have one truck, you are SCREWED when it breaks down! You will lose the revenue and pay for repairs. I used DAT (Dial A Truck) load board app. My insurance was through OOIDA out of Grain Valley MO. Yes if you want to make a $1M in trucking, start with a $1M !!! I currently work for Walmart as a W2 company driver. I drive a 2024 Pete, no slip seating, M-F off Sat Sun and make 95K. If i was to work 6 days a week I could make 100+ but I like my time off. By the time you finance your truck after 4 years, you won't want it anymore. It will have 500K miles on it and will cost you money to fix and keep running. DEBT makes you slave, remember this.
Stop it. I know how walmart and how they work. YOU are DEFINITELY a slave to them. They do not play and you better not get your 4th step. Or youre OUT!
David, I live in Phoenix, Arizona. Worked 2 years 8 months OTR truck driver now. Can you help refer me to Walmart trucking job anywhere in Phoenix, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas area, willing to relocate. Do I need to get my Hazzmat Endorsement and study a pre-trip test and what is involved in detail if you can please help?
Prime was good to me. I highly recommend them to new drivers. I took my truck to another carrier, only roll SW regional. But, I got nothing but love for Prime. By the way, I now only give up 8% but pay my own insurance, trailer lease and maintenance. Believe it or not, it works out about the same in this current economy. I still roll super hard.
Been driving since 1988 and definitely remember the big dogs back in the day. Prime, national carriers, freymiller, Oakley, Roadway, and FedEx. Not to mention all the bull haulers that would rock your truck when they would pass you. People don't realize all the initial start up cost and then the cost just to keep your trucking business afloat. Anywhere from 2-4,000 just for permits. Depending on what you're hauling. Then the MC/ DOT numbers. Truck cost, unless you already have one. Then, as you stated, getting brokers and or customers to trust you. That alone has broke many a small one, two and three truck outfits.
Love what you’re doing sir. You seem like very proud to be a part of prime inc. And that’s speak volume. Definitely considering starting my trucking career prime. I will call to get some more information. Thank you.!!
Mitigating risk isn't about fearing challenges; it's a strategic dance with success. Don't resent those who navigate wisely, for success thrives on swiftness and shuns the shackles of ignorance. Embrace the wisdom of mitigating risk, for it's the symphony that propels you towards the crescendo of triumph. In the rhythm of success, intelligence prevails, and those who dance with it find the fastest route to their dreams.
Well I just ran across this Video. Decided to let it play. I honestly believe this guy wouldn't have Spent the time & Energy to upload this Video If PRIME wasn't doin' Something right. GREAT VIDEO Hand . My dad has Always said qoute: What Works for Me, Wont Work for U ,What Work's for U may not Work for Me , This Company might be a good fit for Me, but may not be good for someone else. Absolutely Great Show Neighbor, Cleveland Tenn Waivin a Hand 🖐 Sayin Peace ✌ Love 💚 & 18 Wheelz to All
Thank you for this. I’m starting to look at my options. I have 12k miles before upgrading and I’m trying to decide company or lease. Appreciate this information tremendously! ❤
The trash talkers usually don’t know anything past what they’ve heard at the buffet table. Usually either telling them you’ll match paychecks or some simple math shuts them up. 😂
@@nobull4414lol. What “truth” you have? Same stuff you always hear on the radio or at the buffet? Things we already know isn’t true or is taken out of context, or blown up to biblical proportions? This man pretty much spells it out. I make great money without all the headache of a the owner op PLUS the perks when and if needed just like this man says. If you haven’t worked here, you can’t talk about what you don’t know. If you came here and failed that’s on you too.
They need to increase your truck speed to 68mph… 64.7mph is way too slow. I can understand they keeping the speeds lower for company drivers but they need to have a faster speed for lease operators
Your exactly right but I'll be fair by saying, it depends on who you are paired up with. The dude I am with right now, I'ma just say, he's not on my good side. I'ma just leave it at that. Hell, I just think being around someone that is a Owner Op or Lease Op, 9/10 they most likely ONLY care about themselves. Which in my opinion, is a bad idea to pair new people with Op's that will just use you(But they call it TRAINING) and keep it moving.
@@DblONo7 I agree because my trainer was the same way and he was a lease driver at my company. My biggest problem is Prime doesn't give a damn if you have experience. They still wanna send you out with a trainer and I'll be damned if I go back out with somebody else unless it's for something completely different than reefer or dry van. Even if I was to learn tanker I don't need to be with a trainer for 5 months.
I own a "hood truck" but what the hell does owning a hood truck have to do with success? I've seen lots of guys with hood trucks go broke running cheap ass freight
Extremely good information vlog, I truly believe I'll be switching over in the next couple of months to Prime to begin my journey into becoming an owner operator.
A lease operator leases the truck from the carrier they’re leased to. An owner operator owns the truck but is leased to a carrier. If a truck owner has their own authority, they’re an independent owner op.
Love watching your videos i have a start date at prine on the 19th considering company for the first 6 months would love to talk to more ppl about leasing
Driver I love what your saying been there done that as a owner been driving for 18 years shit at 1st it was hard for me but thought the years I learn the business not easy but gotten done 😂😂anyway 28 precent is about right
What about cosmetics options or upgrades. If you're a flatbed guy and you want to order a truck, can you order one without the aero skirts that are going to break anyway.
I understand!! The thing about their 28%. Because a couple days ago. Insurance increased. It was that they used to have insurance rates at 2 million liability coverage the insurance industry changed a whole to 5 million dollar coverage. This is for every Independent owner operators/ lease operator. The law has changed at the beginning of the year.
@@tommy.unfilteredI don't think that has passed yet. There is a hispanic politician pushing for the increase to 5 million, @muthatrucker mentioned it a week ago. We need to ask and follow the money to see how much pay back will he get if the laws is passed. All the nonsense truckers are going thru is because they have not stopped the wheels and said enough. So everyone gets punished.
You pay prime to take home a regulated 60k ish after taxes... owner ops for trucking companies... Hogan hirschbach and everyone's favorite SWIFT have been around longer and know how to drive over 63mph
Best vlog ever... Thank you 😊...! I am an inspiring fleet owner and starting with Prime next week as a new CDL driver. Would it be possible for us to connect where you could share your insights over the phone ?
Thank you for all the information you have provided, after 37 years as a company driver and for more companies I care to remember I am considering finishing out my career with prime. I like the sound of a lease purchase program and the benefits it offers. Being that I am not longer a spring chicken and don’t move as quickly as I once did, prime is looking like an opportunity to make money and learn
You need to qualify your statement. If the company you work for wants you to pay off your truck as fast as possible, what exactly do you think is going to happen? They're going to make you sit for days on end ? They're going to try and make / let you fail ?
Permits are cheap not $5200 a year. Insurance for my 389 and trailer is under $1500 including cargo and liability. Your Omni tracs does your ifta. Omnitracs is less than $50. I have a prime advantage fuel card that’s free. Michelin advantage is free. Everything you mentioned costs you thousands and thousands of dollars a month. Not knocking but that’s 100% true. I live right down the street from Robert Low. He’s making plenty off of that 28%. How many trucking company owners have a thoroughbred farm and casinos? My bank pays me interest to keep my money. Prime is a major cause in spfld mo for the homeless problem. They bring broke people into town and fire them before they get to work. Then they’re on the streets. Good luck with them.
just put my app in for prime got to go monday to take my permit test put your driver code down also thanks for the vids has help me deside to take my cdl and get out of turning wrenches
@@fr8sk8r Is the logistics side available for tanker or only reefer? I’m a tanker driver here at prime. Just curious to see the benefits of running under my own authority.
After 20 years of driving from owning trucks and working at different companies W2 beats 1099 all day long. Get your hazmat and haul petroleum I made over 110k hauling fuel last year. A lease purchase is a scam, if anything work for a company get your credit score up and finance a truck through a credit union and make sure you get a good warranty. W2>1099
I did that. Ran company for Prime for my 1st 4yrs saved $112,000 & bought a 2yr old truck for $102k. I'd have better off had I done an Ace lease. I could have paid off a truck in 2yrs instead of 4. I've always been disciplined at saving money & nowadays I save 10k a month.
Anyone at Prime want to let me use there address outside of California so I can do a lease option with Prime. I’m having to find a residence to use in NV so I can lease on.
That’s in no way a lease to buy a truck. Number one do you have the title for the truck with your name on it as the owner with the trucking company having a lean on it
I don’t understand new drivers why not make between $50-$75,000 as a company driver with benefits and don’t have to worry about any overhead this car is full of BS
Well Prime is in business to make money and that’s what they are going to do. They are going to structure the lease to make as much profit as they can. That money comes from the trucker. Somebody has to provide the profits for them
Man, I would love to get the facts to back up your statements. I don’t recall ever posting any of my numbers after taxes much less a $0.36cpm number in any of my videos. But obviously you’re living MY best life. You clearly know more about my finances than I do👍 Keep up the Gr8 work! I’m enjoying your views and the supplemental income that you continue to provide my family and I. Keep the rubber down and the shiny side up! Stay Safe and God Bless! 👍
BLAH,BLAH,BLAH, Another You Tuber promoting for the company for kickbacks. Stop making it more than what it is. You have only said what any COMPENSATED driver would say to get a sucker to lease to the lease scam. You started off with the trucking side, then went onto the things that do nothing to pay bills. Who cares about amenities, if your not making profit. Ran your mouth for 27 minutes, hope the commission was worth it !
I ran power-only for six years, ALWAYS revenue on a rate con. If you're running that percentage on a white sheet, there is a 100% chance you're getting screwed.
You have to be a complete fool to sign any contract with anyone for that. Shit of amount of pay...you need 88% to 95% If you own your own trailer, the 95% amount.... To actually make any serious amount of money ....... Don't be a fool know your worth .... And always remember you get paid last your equipment comes first it's the money maker
