Bro Rhystic Study is wild I only recently came to MTG from Yugioh and we have a similar card that’s really good for a similar reason It’s called «Max “C”» and you can activate it on any turn from the hand, and for the rest of that turn anytime your opponent tries to special summon a monster you get to draw a card But this card here is even stronger than that because it’s any time you cast a spell which is basically everything in MTG. It’s literally “actually do ANYTHING and I’m getting draw power” except I guess here you can pay to negate it but with Yugioh you need a card to negate it. So maybe they’re on par. Then again draw power is insanely good in Yugioh. Probably hard to determine which is stronger in its respective game

I didn’t used to play any black, I traded in my black market connections card for a bg collector pack, got plenty of dragons for the dragon deck but now that I’m building a Rowan scion of war deck I definitely miss that card

Thing is, if Rhystic Study asked its controller to pay 1 instead of the opponents, it would probably be no issue. It even feels more on brand--similar to Mind's Eye, just with opponents casting spells instead of drawing. But no. Instead, we have Rhystic Study 😔

Eine absolut wichtige Faustregel, für die meisten Decks: Sei nicht der Erste, der abgeht. Ich hatte mal ein gut optimiertes Belbe Deck, was mir teilweise turn 2 6 extra mana verschafft hat. Zur Folge hatte ich sehr schnell 3 gegner am Hals, die mich langfristig vom Board gehasst haben. Als ich die Liste anpasste und teurere Pinger spielte, flutschte die Sache besser. Die Gegner hatten mehr Zeit Belbes Manavorteil für sich zu nutzen, und Ich hatte mehr Zeit entsprechend zu reagieren - ganz plötzlich war ich am längeren Hebel. Und das nur, weil ich nicht super gierig gespielt habe und mich zurücklehnte.

When I first started playing commander I got 4 Rhystic Studies, and removed them from my decks fast because "Do you wanna pay for that" was so annoying. But it's just such a good effect that you gotta do it.

You could see Rhystic study as a way to bait out the removal spell they've been waiting to use. If you have a follow up play, there's a far better chance it will go un-checked. It's all a mind game. Get yer poker faces on. :)

i like the way she despises some cards and brings verbal aggression during attacks. this is the way to crash enemies.

Honestly I find my disdain to be for smothering tithe more. You can choose to not cast spells, you can't choose not to draw and minus two mana early game is just unsustainable.

As a casual, you should always pay 1. It’s only when you need their help will you let them draw; mutual benefit on a temporary basis.

Anyone playing rhystic studies just needs to be prepared when the fully wound up backhand arrives to sweep that nonsense off the board.

Sometimes it's smart gameplay to let one player keep their thing. Better for only 2 players to be incentived to kill your enchantment. However, in this case with one of the exiled cards being rhystic Study, that danger is probably fairly low

Cus black market connections is it's slower brother. Tbf someone not respecting rhystic will potentially king make

I'd actually be interested in getting into this but dang. I live in a city of 500k in Canada and looked online for FB groups of people that link up to play and best I could do was a group of 140 people with 3 posts a year lol. Thought it be bigger than that.
