Why Do People Believe In Lizard People?

Not saying that's what you're doing, but just to clarify in case someone misinterprets a simple 'yes' answer. Can't agree with the latter half however. Confirmation bias is more than just subconcious acknowledgement, but automatic acceptance of an idea because it conforms to a preconceived belief or idea.

Its not a label, it's objectively what people are saying. Theories are just possible ideas that have yet to be proven. A conspiracy is the concept of a cover up. To have the idea that there is a cover up is to believe in a theory surrounding a conspiracy. Ergo, a conspiracy theory. Back in the 70's, one of my older uncles used to have an office in his house with a lamp like that on his desk. He also had a terrarium and a collection of bound Nat Geos from the 19-teens that were fun to look at. Was he too a lizard person?

I lost my wallet on the train to the Philadelphia airport. It was turned in with all its cash ($3)! I think plenty of people are good and the world is generally getting better, but bad/outrageous news is more engaging. Or from another point of view: if dead people being ignored happened on an almost daily basis, do you think it would still make the news? If so, why are road fatalities rarely in the news? News, by its nature, has to be exceptional, usually bad, and therefore biases our perception of reality towards things looking worse than they are. Also, our brain is biased towards remembering bad things more than unexceptional good things.

Oh I am totally disenfranchised with people, extremely pessimistic. At this point I know 1 person who I actually find to be a good person who I actually like to be around. I had friends for my whole life who didn't care at all when I said I almost killed myself. I legitimately don't think Ill ever be in a relationship, not for some incel thing, but just statistically, I don't think it's likely to find someone genuinely good. And typically sociopaths can be dormant in a relationship and go into gaslight psycho mode when you reach a point where it's difficult for you to come to terms with it. Every time this happens too you assume it might be your fault somehow. It doesn't just degrade your view of others, it completely ruins your sense of self. If everyone I know is a horrible person, then maybe I'm the bad guy and they treat me bad for a reason? I can't fathom being an extrovert when people are as vile as they are
