Actually, Danzo was responsible for Naruto's shitty childhood. The village previously didn't know that Naruto's dad was Minato or that he had the nine-tailed fox sealed inside him since it was classified information. However, Danzo leaked that Naruto was the jinnchuruki but not that his father was Minato, causing the village to hate him. Danzo is such a piece of shit, glad Sasuke executed him before he could become hokage lmao

I swear people see Boruto's series as just an extension to 'Naruto's legacy,' when they really should be seeing it as his own show, and merely a sequel to Naruto's old story. Naruto's story has been finished---it has been written. People should also know that the ninja world has been industrialised and modernised. It's sort of dumb to complain about the show's take on technology when the ninja world in Boruto has been at peace long enough to develop (also recapping Naruto's dream of becoming Hokage and achieving peace). Why not utilise the perks of achieving peace? Why retain the same world when you have the ability to modernise it? This also recaps the fact that Boruto is its own show, and therefore it can change the world (not saying it should completely modify it, since its the same world as Naruto's, but it can change it a bit).

My problem with Boruto is that I feel that the transition between Naruto and Hinata wedding to the Boruto anime was too fast and wished that the writers spend a lot more time with Naruto and Hinata living together and seeing Boruto growing up with his dad. Also, it would have been nice to see Naruto and Hinata having their own genins to train between the ending of Shippuden and Boruto.

For me Naruto will always be the protagonist, no matter the series. ❤

The problem is not Boruto being harsh on Naruto. The problem is portrayal of Naruto. This guy searched thru his life warmness of a family or group of friends. And on this path he choose to become Hokage cuz if he become Hokage everyone would recognize him as a respectful and loveable person not a demon fox kid. ANd hey Naruto acheived both. And Naruto is one of the most energetic people on fiction. And he got all the energy on the world (in this case this is chakra) he also has one of the best mental endurance too .. Then why a character like Naruto aint show up at his babygirl's birthday party but sleeping in the office ? To able to create Boruto (who challenges his dad) they nerfed and downplayed Naruto. Both mentally and physically. And Boruto's attidute against Naruto isnt just the biggest irritating part of him. The way Boruto handle by artists in Boruto The Movie, Boruto: The Next Generations anime and Boruto: The Next Generations manga are all different. And that makes this show irritating. Cuz what Boruto did, is already done by Naruto or Sasuke or Gaara in a better way. And all tech-Naruto theme it aint working with Naruto's medium at all. I get it to make very different than Naruto is the only way to Sell Boruto cuz no one would wanna watch Naruto 2.0 But the problem is Boruto as a series aint so much far from being Naruto 2.0 and character also looks like NAruto a lot. So its not far from being a carbon copy but Boruto as a character is very far from Naruto's core. SO that create miss-conception and contradiction in a bad way. I just want to say something, I think you mistake Naruto’s perspective for his fathers. Minato actually valued over his family over the village, his actions consistently show this, and Naruto was given the power of nine tails to save his life and as a gift, he even explicitly said so. Naruto however never experienced family, he doesn’t understand it. To him, absolutely everyone is his family, since he used to seek validation from anyone and everyone, so he doesn’t prioritise his family as much as he maybe should. Boruto’s struggle is the opposite of naruto’s, Naruto who had a father who loved him so much that he sacrificed himself so that he may live, leaving him without a father, while boruto has a father who is here, but doesn’t display enough actions of love. Both had absent fathers, but for opposite reasons.

I dislike Boruto because the series takes place before the movie therefor the amount of development he can undergo is limited. Basically I have spent 22 episodes with a main charater that I didn't like in the first place without almost any character development.

He has an absurd level of power and talent as a ninja, so much so that he's almost more than a match for even what Sasuke was like at that age. I don't dislike Boruto because he disrespects Naruto. I love your take on Boruto. I really like that you can look at the character and series with more understanding. If I was the kid, I'd be just as pissy towards my parents. All kids have that time in their lives when they didn't understand their parents and yet they treated them unfairly for disagreeing with them. The only exception to this is when the parents in question are genuinely horrible to their kids.

As someone who lacks the context of Boruto's character based on the events from the movie, I actually think he is a fascinating character. With the context of me being someone who lost their dad at the age of 10, Boruto feels realistic. Boruto feels like one of the closest things to a real person an anime character could be. I believe that Boruto is as strong a character as Ed or Al. Boruto is young, so he isn't going to have enough world view to have multiple layers of depth. He is going to start off very one note, the way Naruto did, and gain depth as the series progresses. This is actually really good for the series, since it shows that the world is now at peace. It, in and of itself, is a great piece of world building that NEEDS to be there, for our sake. Boruto, while currently feeling off for a show, will get better as we get going. Not only that, but it will be better than the original Naruto ever was.

He’s a ninja during peacetime with more luxuries than the past generations ever had at their disposal, and is not only ungrateful to his father but has no personal drawbacks on his own lifestyle to overcome or develop on as he did. He deals with trouble makers here and there, but nothing that invokes a long term journey. Reason enough...

Something I see getting brought up is that the grief of characters from Naruto come from an understandable place, like the whole world is against them. Whilst with Boruto, his grief is fairly average and just something people have to deal with in reality. So when you place a character like Boruto in Naruto, it makes him look like a real brat that doesn't realise how good he has it. Which tbh is true. Boruto is a brat that doesn't realise how well of he actually has it. he comes not only from a place of ignorance, but also a place of privilege. But, I don't think that's a bad thing for a character. Grief doesn't have to come from a place you can understand, it can be petty but still be the main drive of someone. Honestly it would be a bit overdone for them to have given Boruto an overly sad backstory. More so, I enjoy seeing Boruto slowly understand his privilege. I think this is just filler, but in the recent episodes of Boruto, they go to outside the 5 nations to one of the lands that is stricken with poverty and crime. There Boruto sees this place that may as well be a different planet to his. there's moments like this dotted throughout the show where Boruto gains a bigger understanding of what others have gone through, making him realise his own grief is trivial. The way I see it, Boruto's character is about understanding privilege. also sidenote: lots of people comparing Naruto and Boruto's past come off like parents that bring up starving kids in Africa. Like yes worse have it off, but that doesn't mean Boruto can't have a bad day.

Yes, I get that Boruto has struggles with his father being absent and I have defended his perspective to people before. My problems with this show stem from the power ceiling and children being a bit too similar to their parents. While your video isn't about these issues, I never took a strong hold of denouncing Boruto as a character just for his grudge.

I am so glad I watched this video, it gave me a whole new perspective on boruto and how I and many people treat him is very undeserved.

For me, personally, I don’t like Boruto, the character or the series. I don’t trust Kishi or Perrot to handle the sequel series following the mess that was the final arc of the manga or the fan fiction with an animation budget that was the last, the latter especially after it completely override the beginning of the manga and tossed out all the characters development after the final arc. The series feels like it’s being kept alive because of a desire for more money and and a exploitation of fan demand, and not out of a love for the series or its characters.

If done right, Boruto can be a great coming of age story as he grows up and matures.

I think this video nails it for the most part. I also think a huge disadvantage for next generations is Naruto has created complete peace in the world. They aren’t going to undo all of that in 100 or even 150 episodes because it would discount everything Naruto went through and has accomplished. But the story also needs intrigue, suspense, and blood so Boruto can grow as a character and show prove himself to readers/watchers. So the writer is stuck between protecting what he already built and extending the story in a meaningful. It’s gonna take time to set up a worthy villain or catastrophic event to set up the need for Boruto.

I believe we can agree that Future Boruto (the one in that flashfoward) will be legitemely badass... seeing just once, his face (which express a matured mind) made me able to see his "SASUKE" phase again for the first 5 and 10 pages of the manga.

Okay. The problem with Boruto is that his problems are so minuscule compared to Naruto's. However, wtf is Naruto even doing all day in the office? You'd think in times of peace his work would be much less. I think that Kakashi had the most work, repairing the damage after the war. Naruto has no real reason to have so much work. This was a very well made video, and i agree with everything you said. Its a child where everyone expects much from, and not having that drive to train or anything because he was practically given his skills, he just goofs around. Its like giving someone who knows nothing about a game and giving them the most op gear, it will make them win, until somebody with actual skill comes along and wrecks them. I really enjoy boruto as a character and cant wait for the point he practically loses everything, so that it gives him that drive to train and move forward

I still hate Boruto as a protagonist. So far the anime series were really bad. But in defence of Boruto I would also be pissed off and bratty if my dad was Naruto. Imagine that your dad makes clones of himself, helps the whole village but he cannot make a clone to do the paper work and go back to home and at least talk to you. And he grew up without a family so he more then anyone should know to cherish your own flesh and blood. He's almost on a Goku level of bad parenting.
