Can't remember if it was canon or not, but Madara actually did fly in his edo form in his second fight with Naruto at the gedo mazou battleground. They didn't show what technique he used, but it was a large radial explosion, similar to what shinra tensei can cause. I'd say that was the one and only time he used shinra tensei. And I think pein's techs against Hinata were still shinra tensei and bansho tenin, just at a far lower degree, as he showed several levels of it throughout the arc.

NAGATO is the only character whose actually able to fully utilise the Rinnegan. The ease in which he's able to use it speaks volume. i mean even when revives the hidden leaf by that time he's completely exhausted his chakra yet he still has the ability to actually use the Rinnegan for the jutsu. I genuinely a fully fit Nagato with the 6 Pains at full capacity would be a close fight with Madara. Nagatos ability with Rinnegan is so advanced beyond even Madara and Nagato doesn't even abosrb the 10 tails which further improves Madaras prowess and abilities.

TWO THINGS 1. It doesn't make sense that the Ashura path of the rinnegan just gives the user access to pre-laser beams. That would mean that Kaguya and the sage of six paths would also of been able to access it in their time period too. Of which is impossible because the time period they lived in didn't have technology that advanced yet. I think its safer to say the Ashura path allows the user to access any weapon they can imagine that they have already seen being limited to how much chakra the user can possess. Its proven that yagato's time period is more technologically advanced by both Kakuzu's and sasori's fight as we see them both using laser beam attacks in it. Yagato doesn't use lasers because its an innate ability of the Ashura path, he uses it because it's one of the weapons he wants his Ashura path to have. Or if you want you can just say the Ashura path allows the user access to all weapons. And ... 2. Pain couldn't just fly. We've all seen Kaguya, The sage of six paths, Momoki , and now even sasuke lol apparently fly. But I'm strongly lead to believe it plays into the rinnegans's Diva path of the Bansho teinin. Its most likely that this flying ability is a smaller sub technique of the Bansho teinin that requires a very minimal amount of chakra to use (or none at all) focusing on holding just the gravity around the feet. similar to how super sayins fly by focusing their chi around their feet. I think chakra for this technique is only really consumed when you need the force to be animate. But just holding some one up sounds easy like treading water. But I don't know guys what do you think, let me know below.

Those animals don't _come with_ the Rinnegan. They are specific to Nagato. I always thought that the animal path meant that the jutsu caster could control/summon *_any_* animal, so Nagato just went out and found the most powerful hell-beasts he could find, and basically enslaved them to fight for him.
