Cars 2 is unfathomably underrated. I don't understand why so many people hate on this movie. Sure, it had its ups and downs, like the confusing plot, but the movie had so much going on that makes the movie actually good.
I like this movie, kill me if you want, the voice acting is amazing, and also the animation! The story is good, my 2nd favorite in the franchise (cars 3 being my favorite) yes, spies and cars are not a good combination, but somehow, they made it GOOD! It's Pixar, they made 2 bad movies, Brave and The Good Dinosaur. Like or hate this movie or not, the movie is good in some of our opinions. FUN FACT: When Finn lets Mater have those rockets, he could have used them in Cars on the Road in the Salt Flap episode, but he does not, and instead, risking his life instead of remembering what Finn gave him
Same, I don't think it's bad at all. Cars 1 was also pretty nice, even Cars 3, which, by the way, perfectly ended the trilogy, but Cars 2 may have been the perfect sequel. You see, I'm more of an action junkie, so the action and characters were what I cherished the most.
The only people that I think hate this movie are Senior RU-vidrs. As a Junior RU-vidr myself, I am a member of the people who are trying to show other people that Cars 2 is a fun movie, and it shouldn’t be hated.
@@OmniMon94 Despite all the controversy, this isn’t the only problem that Pixar has. Many people said Incredibles 2 came out fourteen years later, but they are so wrong, and it actually came out thirteen years later. If you don’t believe me, check the calendar date and do the math yourself.
Definitely I feel like only Disney adults that live off Disney dislike cars 2 but any kid that has watched cars 2 loves it which was intended to be watched by them
yes, axlerod was a greedy fraud basically, he made allinol look good and blamed it on the other fuels when he really was just working with the lemons and crushed the alternative fuels' economies

I think why most people hated it because it was a completely different movie to what they were expecting. I really like it but it I have watched loads of times because my 4 year old loves the cars films. It is very dark with many cars being killed which is very unlike the first. The plot is very complicated to follow and to figure out why Miles Axelrod did what he did. It is a spoof of the Bond films with a plot to match, but not what you expect from a kids film. Michael Caine is brilliant as Finn McMissile and is the headline from an excellent voice cast. The only downside of the movie I found was Mater. He went from amusing side kick in the first, to full Jar Jar Binks mode in the second with too big a role and was simply annoying. I'm guessing they couldn't find another way to bridge from the spy world to McQueen and his friends. He's not as annoying as Cruz in Cars 3 I might add and does not ruin the movie.
I don't like it because it's different, like you said. It doesn't fit into the cars trilogy. But, as a standalone film it's fine. It has some fun scenes and decent jokes and such, but it just doesn't fit. It's also good for character development for mater, but then he gets like 3 seconds of screentime in cars 3 so what's the point anyway? Y'know what I mean?
Crabby, the boat at the beginning of the movie, is an actual crabbing vessel named Northwestern that appears on all 18 seasons of Deadliest Catch, that's why it has the Northwestern decal on the side. Sig Hansen voices him as he is the captain of Northwestern! It's a very interesting cameo, my dad flipped out when we saw it together in theatres. I loved the movie, even now it's like a lil guilty pleasure :).
This movie is so nostalgic! I remember when my family used to go on road trips, my little brother and I would sit in the back row with a dvd player and we would watch this movie together! 😭😭😭
What Cars 2 could’ve and should’ve done - A movie focused on McQueens prime - Focuses on the Piston Cup Series - Show us how Chick was punished after almost killing Strip Weathers - focused on how McQueen dealt with Docs death, really annoys me how there’s little mention of Doc in Cars 2 - Have people get to know about Bobby Swift and Cal weathers. This would’ve made their retirements in cars 3 more meaningful. - tell us about what happened to Harv or what he looked like. - have McQueen win a Piston cup on-screen. In cars 3, we see McQueen win the 2015 Piston Cup (the first 3 races at the beginning of the movie) but the movie doesn’t really make it clear. We don’t see McQueen celebrating, just him saying “hey, are my sponsors happy?”. This kind of annoys me a little bit. I don’t hate Cars 2, I enjoy it. But it doesn’t really fit with the cars series and it’s not really a good sequel.
Not gonna lie, your ideas for the most part are bad. They don't make sense from a movie standpoint and the plot just seems kinda shit. Only points I agree are doc's death being a plot point, seeing mcqueen win the piston cup and having bobby and swift as cameos/ side characters. The WGP is already a good idea imo so keeping that would be better for the plot aswell as seeing the different racers and courses around the world.
I watched it recently. I didn't think it was that bad. Most of the jokes landed, plot was decent and had a good twist in my opinion, the racing scenes were decent, action scenes were pretty good and while the spy thing was pretty dumb I think it was executed pretty well. I see why fans didn't like it though. A racing movie to a spy movie. It was just a very dramatic tone shift. I just don't think calling it the worst Pixar movie is even remotely fair.
People hated it pretty much cuz of how in cars 2 there was dark scenes and some not appropriate scenes like rod redline dying and got blocked by a board because Pixar knew that was not appropriate for kids.
I feel like people should think about what could’ve happened had McQueen not ever met the residents of Radiator Springs, Mater wouldn’t have been there to save Lightning from The Lemons
Same here. One friend fell asleep in the cinema, the other went out for a very long cigarette!!! Cars 3 was just a remake of Cars 1 (even having the same intro..."Speed.I am speed"🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️. I absolutely LOVE Cars 2. Imagine if all James Bond films had the same storyline !?!? Cars 2 is DIFFERENT - some people don't like change.
I genuniely whole- heartedly love Cars 2 and will defend it forever. I don't understand the hate one bit and think people hate on it because they're mindless and usually the ancient youtubers who have had a grip on the public perception for well over a decade. I love Cars 2. Fight me. My opinion will never change.
even though cars 2 is pretty much different story that is barely tied to 1 and 3, I understand for kids this could be a really goodd movie as the spy plot can get interesting and the movie itself has a couple funny moments, but for an older person at least to me, I cant get past over Mater being pretty much the main character as he can get extremely annoying, which wsnt a problem in Cars 1 since they didnt base the entire movie on him.
The only reason why I hate Cars 2 is because when I was growing up, it was the only movie my kid brother would watch for over a year and my parents forced me to watch it with him. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I watched that movie so often that at one point, my sister told me that I was quite literally reciting the entire movie in my sleep. Thankfully, those memories have been blocked out of my mind, but I'm mildly worried that one day I'll be sleeping over at a girlfriend's house and I'll start reciting the movie in my sleep again and freak them out lol.
why do people say the lemons plan doesnt make sense? axlerod wants everyone to use gas so he can maintain his monopoly on the gasoline industry due to the rise of alternative fuels

So then, what does Axelrod gain? What does he want to gain from this plan? Doesn't he want money? Won't the super fuel make him rich? If they want cars to be on fossil fuel, then why make the super fuel in the first place? You create a very good fuel that can make you rich, but make a deal to ruin it to get what? etc etc

Its a long term investment, and after they succeed permanently crippling the reputation of super fuel, they, the Lemons, will become the richest organization in the whole world as they own the largest oil rig in the world, in return, them becoming the most powerful group in the whole world, even more powerful than a country. And with great power, they can gain the one thing they always wanted, respect. Whether by choice or force. Their explanation are easy to understand, just need to think about it for 5 minutes.
I used to adore this movie as a child, but rewatching the trilogy, it definitely is the worst one. It doesn’t make it a bad movie though, sure there were times where the story and the characters (mainly Mater) were frustrating, but they tried to expand the Cars universe outside of racing, which was what I really liked. I feel like they focused on the spy stuff a lot more. They should have had two plots connecting with each other, both with equal screen time. Lightning competing in the World Grand Prix, and Finn and Holley investigating the lemons (and for God’s sake, keep Mater out of the spy stuff, we’ll make Finn the main protagonist cuz like you said, he basically was). I didn’t like how Mater was the main character because there was nothing relatable about him. Also I would have Lightning mourn the loss of Doc Hudson throughout the film, which would make him feel upset during the races and have flashback scenes involving the advice and mentoring he gave, sorta like in Cars 3 (in the actual movie, he was upset about losing Mater, which was just frustrating and generic). Then at the end in London, we’ll have the plots intersect. Let’s just say that they plot to kill Lightning, so the spies basically interrupt the race, and get Lightning out of the race. They would explain to him what is going on, so he and the Radiator Springs crew join in on their mission. The spies would eventually suspect it’s Axelrod, but I’d make the exposing scene A LOT more suspenseful and mysterious, because Mater just got straight to the point and it just didn’t feel like “Wow, this guy was the villain?” In fact, I always thought Zundapp was the main villain as a kid. The plot was definitely really complex and they were just doing too much, but they really could have made it more simple honestly. But it’s not a bad film, it was just executed really poorly.
I guess one of the biggest problems with Cars 2, is that the plot is very confusing and keeps jumping from spying to racing. Even I, a young adult couldn't grasp on exactly what the film is about and how the lemons' schemes ultimately come together with reasoning.
i remember watching this movie in kindergarten like 10 years ago, i had no idea what was the ending about but it was one of my most favourite movies and actually it still is (a lot of people hate me that i have cars 2 in S tier)
Yeah, I think this movie would have done better if it wasn't part of the cars franchise. I loved this movie growing up! My brother even had a character poster for this film where it showed a majority of the characters, even some background ones

I don’t care if you guys attack me or not, but I really love this movie. Cars 2 is one of my favorite movies I have ever seen. It’s fun, its action packed, has a good message, the soundtracks a banger, the story was strong, the main villain was good,(But was pretty forgettable), gives good development to Mater, the main character was good, (I like Mater) and I like all the characters to. Honestly the only thing I would change about this movie is the title. Instead of calling it Cars 2, I would’ve called it Maters adventure. I would’ve worked better as a spin-off. But yeah, this movie is a cinematic masterpiece.
It's my favourite of the trilogy, and I've seen it 100 times. I only recently realised that everyone hates the movie and it's so sad to see bc in my opinion it's a masterpiece.
Many people didn’t like this movie due to the fact that Mater, who was a comic relief in the first movie, is the main character and the fact that this movie goes against the fact that the characters are CARS. The fact that they have someone selling ice cream, the fact that there’s sidewalks and small fenced areas that are too small for cars. Showing glasses and bottles that are from the human world. If you know about RU-vidr “The Unlucky Tug”, he did a full video on the three Cars movies. He goes into more depth into why Cars 2 is not good. He explains it better. I will respect Pixar for being creative and I don’t hate the movie but it doesn’t feel as deep as the first one and I can see why people don’t like it.
cars 2 isn't a bad movie, people don't like for something very understandable. we waited 5-6 years for a sequel and its barely related to the last movie.
I wish the movie salvaged a short bit of the scrapped Le Mans race in Paris. Specifically the bit where Mater remembered what Finn warned him about the spy gig Mater was dragged into. ----- Finn: Tell anyone about this and you’ll be putting them in grave danger. And I wasn’t wearing a sombrero when I told you this- Mater: Were too! *cut back to present time*
I personally dislike cars 2 because on top of having a confusing af plot it also doesn’t bother trying to explain how the world of sentient vehicles actually functions expecting you to just accept it for what it is (same gripe I had with the first one) it felt rushed so that they could make money off it and it also ruined Mater for me. It’s not terrible but it’s one of Pixar’s weakest, the villians were alright.

Honestly, the main reason why I would defend this movie is that, unlike other Disney and Pixar sequels that isn't stuff like toy storys 2, 3, and even 4, etc., it's plot not a repeat of the previous movie.
It’s not a bad movie, it was just different than what people expected from this movie. It was more about spies than racing, and had more focus on Mater than McQueen. It was still pretty good though.
Cars 2 could have been a full racing movie, a full Fast and Furious over the top action movie, OR a cliché Disney Baby Movie, with a mandatory "Life Lesson" at the end. But not a mixture of all three.
Lukewarm James Bond parody, trite villains, too much focus on supporting characters; basically, made under pressure from Disney so they could sell more merchandise (which is also why the "Planes" movies, which were in-house Disney, exist.)
sometimes I always felt like I was the only one that actually liked the movie. Mainly cause of the action, and the way they tried to do 007 in the cars series.
cause it has a different story from the first. It went from being about racing to being about spies. That's like if Beauty and the beast had a sequel about fighting aliens. But I don't care I think they executed the spy genre in a fine way
I can admire Cars 2 for just embracing and making sweet love to the insanity of the Cars universe instead of trying to get into lore hell about it, but the "lemon cars" end up feeling an uncomfortably awful lot like an analogy for disabled people which makes the whole movie come off as weirdly eugenicist. The movie doesn't act like they're bad just because of their actions, but also their motives.

It’s crazy how people accuse Cars 2 of being the worst Pixar sequel/movie when really that reputation should belong to Incredibles 2 & Toy Story 4. Especially Toy Story 4 cause it was god awfully horrible
A lot of people seem to forget that not all of the lemon cars in this movie are evil, like Mater's friend Otis and Tomber the Reliant Robin are friendly
Actually,cars 2 was a success,especially at the box office,it made more money than the first movie,but for a pixar movie reactions were mixed,the first cars movie is also not considered one of pixars best moments,but it was at least enjoyable
I never hated it, It's my least favorite but I don't really see what's bad now I seen lots of people complain they eat real human food and drink human drink but.. It's an animated movie it's not suppose to be realistic I also don't mind Mater as the main focus even though Fin was the main character I mean if it was about Mcqueen VS Franseco it would pretty much be almost like the first movie with Franseco being Chick Hicks so I'm glad they did something different oh wait people hate new things
Ok so now I can see why this video doesn’t have that many views. I just want to point out a few things. First of all, the title of the video is why poeple don’t like cars 2. You were supposed to say why people don't like this movie, instead all you did was describe the plot even though you didn't understand it yourself. Why did he made bad reputation for allinol? because he had shares in normal gasoline/engine oil. That was just pure marketing, his plan was to make a new fuel that everyone will want to use because it’s new(and people like new stuff) then make it look bad so everyone gets back to using gasoline (which he will make money off) saying that it’s better. Second thing which is kinda annoying is when you make „jokes” the pause after them is too long, it’s just annoying and making the viewer less interested in video. But I wish you a good and succesful carrer on youtube, and everyone reading this comment a good day :)
I did explain why people don’t like it at the end. People don’t like it because the plot is confusing and it ignores everything that happened in the first movie. Also, sorry if you didn’t find those “jokes” to be funny. Not everybody has the same sense of humor as you, and I was just trying to make an otherwise bland and boring video a little more lighthearted and whimsical.
there are way worse animated films than Cars 2. I personally love Cars 2 and if you compare it to films like Norm of the north, Home on the range, Chicken Little, and Ice age 5 than It's not hard to see which is better. Everyone hates Cars 2 because it has a completely different story than the first but if you ask me a high flying spy adventure with lots of mystery and suspense sounds more fun than a group of talking cars arguing about fixing a road for 45 minutes
i have a theory that cars 2 is set in an alternate universe, which explains why mater doesnt use his rockets and other factors and i know no one asked, and i dont care
