I remember my mom said that Aki was the runt of the litter. I'm grateful to have raised her because I had a strange feeling had she stayed at the farm where she was born, she wouldn't have survived her first month. I'm glad you released this video. Her life would have been so much worse off if she was not adopted. She celebrated her 7th Gotcha day 2 days ago. Happy Gotcha Day Aki. Thank you Lorelei and Lennon for letting us know what goes on in a rabbit's early life.

I totally agree with you- every time I show someone a picture of my pet bunny, I inevitably have to launch into a lecture on how hard they are to care for so that people understand that you can't get one on a whim! They are so complex and needy that you really have to be dedicated to their upkeep and able to provide for their social needs as well. I love my little guy, but he is too darn cute and attractive to people who shouldn't have bunnies!

what age is he? Also how did you get him to eat hay again? We adopted an elderly rabbit that ate apparently ate hay when he was younger but now simply refuses to do so. We tried everything, even our vet is saying it's a hopeless case, he just eats pellets and special rabbit fodder but refuses to eat hay, grass or any greens whatsoever.
@tatiaa7206
@tatiaa7206 Год назад
That’s so strange. Especially bc he ate hay when he was younger. I would try to give him hay cubes or hay pellets. The ones that only have hay as their ingredient. You can even get some alfalfa ones from smallpetselect. Also, have you tried 3rd cut timothy, botanical , or oat hay? I would give those a try if you haven’t already. Also cut up the veggies in small pieces to see if he eats it then. And maybe go to another vet? Just to get a second opinion. Maybe there is something wrong with his front teeth?
@kayesguineapigs
@kayesguineapigs Год назад
@@varanzmaj he’s one or two. I’ve had elderly rabbits also. As long as they’re eating, a good pellet and drinking plenty of water it’s fine, but I would always have hay there just in case. What pellet are you feeding? I just put the hay in a roasting pan. I know that sounds ridiculous but he loves sitting in there. He sitting there and eats and poops to his heart’s content.

Thank you for this incredibly informative video! I keep getting shocked by their cleverness and intelligence. I remember learning about rabbits in veterinary school after being obsessed with them since childhood. After the anatomy and medicine classes, the wild rabbit/hare classes finally began. The sheer amount of teamwork, hierarchy efficiency, maternal instincts+cleverness AND the way they care for each other is just... Wow. I keep saying this to my bunny Binky: I wish people were more like rabbits. They're so thoughtful, smart and handle out of necessity instead of emotions. We as humans can learn *so much* from them, their behaviour and their tools. Just don't eat your baby. 😂 The world would be such more pleasant! Sending you lots of love from the Netherlands and my 6 yo boy Binky. We're a big fan of the channel!🐰🖤 P.s. sorry for grammar/spelling mistakes

They only eat the babies if there isn't enough food for all of them, or if the baby is deformed, etc. If they don't trust their owner to give extra food, they will eat their young- hamsters are notorious for this

Loved the video though I knew most of that already from doing research this past summer when I found an abandoned set of 6 baby bunnies in my nearby garden. I know it was abandoned because close by was the mom deceased due to a nearby cat that faught her. :( My friend and I rescued these bunnies and were able to get them to a wildlife center to continue care until they were old enough to go back on their own. Sadly of those 6 one had died of injuries from the cat as well.

. *That's what cats do and is why they are outlawed in many territories; they ruin ecosystems. People want to help them by feeding and protecting them during bad weather, only for them to take advantage of other life hurt by the bad weather and lack of food. We use to have hundreds of wild bunnies all over where I lived...until people brought cats and let them run wild; no more wild bunnies.* *I hate cats; they take on the worse of human behavior.*

Loved this! I got Morrison through a family friend's daughter, who bought him impulsively at a pet store. The daughter and one of her friends were going to share him on the weekends. But the other girl's parents weren't aware, so when it was her weekend she'd hide the poor thing in her closet. When my fam friend's daughter picked him up, he was covered in dust 💔 The other girl's parents eventually found out and they were threatening to sell Morrison on Craigslist. So my mom's friend took him in and was like "can anyone take this bunny??" During that time, I was really upset about a breakup and I'd wanted a cat, but my mom hates them. So she found out about Morrison (who was named Thumper at the time lol) and asked me if i wanted him. And then I fell in love with him the moment I met him, he was around 4 or 5 months! 💙

I have a single bunny and he's neutered. I can't imagine having unneutered or unspayed pet. They are way more healthy that way and even when my mum's and mine cat was small, she had her first heat and demanded to be constantly carried and hugged. We spayed her immediately, so she didn't have to live through that horror ever again. She's 12 now and as healthy as senior cat can be. My bun is 6 and he still acts like he acted when he was 2. They didn't have to suffer with changes in hormons. Mum spayed her dog as soon as she could, and we are always telling people to spay or neuter their pets. It's so important to not add to overpopulation and it's also so beneficial to their health.

I really tried to adopt but after a month and a half of calling, texting back and forth for fourther information from my side, I found out that my practice hasn't even started! Another association, they gave me a conference call to talk about my already existing bunny (I was trying to get her a couple), it turned out that the fodder wasn't good enough. So they refused me on adopting that bunny. I bought a bunny cub. My bunny was literally happy to become a foster mother (she gave birth several times but now sterilized). My point is that sometimes you can be as good and patient as it's required but still get refused by the buriratical system. They say they want be sure that the bunny is adopted by the perfect family, but they get a huge amount of them behind the bars waiting forever his foster family get through to them.

The two baby buns we took from the rescue included the runt, glad their momma bunny didn't get too peckish! Took them back to meet momma about 6 months after they left, was kinda funny that the dominant one showed a willingness to fight on first sight, but mum gave her one bunny paw clip round the ear and it immediately calmed her to the point both snuggled in behind her and napped after that initial misgiving. Unfortunately the dominant has never chilled out around any other bun (other than her sister, for the most part!) and always remains in fight mode / has to be the other side of fencing to other buns, and the runt normally runs to hide on sight of any other bun 😶 but was cool to see them seemingly retaining love for mum bun even though they probably had no memory of her.

We had a bunny who came from a hoarding situation and gave birth to 2 kits at our rescue. Sadly, she attached both babies (probably stress-related), and one passed away from these injuries. They have had six babies, sadly neighborhood cats attacked and only one baby left. As they are now used to outdoors, we provide shelter and bedding, as well as food. Momma will eat out of our hands and follows us around. Dad is very skittish and runs. Rental policy does not allow pets, so we can't bring them inside. Should we try to catch them in a trap and have them spayed/neutered and re-release them? Animal control not interested in saving them. It is the highlight of my day seeing them in the morning before work and in the evening. Bonnie and Clyde and baby Bugzy.

She then had 2 babies in my fireplace! I watched her cleaning one and then realized that she was eating it. I have no experience with breeding or kits so I was totally freaked out. I don’t know if she was ready for motherhood because she ate one and didn’t seem to feed the other on and it died. 😔 After the “incident” we had her spayed and she’s been a happy free roaming girl for 3 years now. But I’ll never forget seeing her eat the baby and my stomach literally turned 🤢

Hairball issue for rabbits? When they poop several of their fickle traps are tied together through hairball and I read articles on it and somewhere I read to give the rabbit laxatone or another brand that may help with a hairball. But then I read a veterinarian document says do not give anyting that's made for cats to rabbits.. did you ever research the stuff with veterinarians please share feud if you can

I have a questionnnn. Ive watched the video "why ur bunny hates u" of 1 year ago...and i really cant understand why mine dont like to be pet. He always follow me, never anxius, he often falls asleep near by in the most relaxing positions, hes always very happy to get treats but after a while toghether he just go away and take naps. Still, he seems to hate when i try to pet him, he seemed to like once but never happened again. i even watched videos to acknoweldge where to do it. Can someone help me? Im getting worried...

i have a suggestion for a video. what about rabbit vs guinea pigs? guinea pigs are popular small pets too and am sure many people get stuck between choosing a rabbit or guinea pig. would be interesting to see the differences/similarities.

As someone who has had both it's guinea pigs all the way! They are messier- not 100% litter box trainable though.

I have a rabbit but i can’t get her spayed due to her having a bad reaction to the anaesthetic that they use. What should i do?

The first and second litter are the hardest on them. They are confused and scared. The babies could have problems even.

Another way rabbits will eat their young if they are close to a male rabbit.The reason why is because my had her first litter of bunnies her cage was next to the male and she ate her baby’s .The when she had her next litter she did perfectly fine with them except that she gave birth to 8 and one died because it didn’t get enough milk from it monther.But she did a good job talking care of her 2 litter

Just lost my bunny today was my first one and i did everything possible to take care of her and make sure she was always clean and well. No warning signs just woke up to major loose stools all over her pen area and on her I was shocked wth happened when I saw her around 3 am and she was completely fine. I got up at 9:30 am and see this and shocked like wth do I do . She passed a couple of hours later even though I did what I was told and worse my whole house hold has Covid right now and I’m thinking did I make her sick or something bro she was my baby I’m crying all day like it came out of nowhere I don’t understand. She crawled up on my shoulder with the last bit of strength she had and shortly started moving weird and passed in my arms. She was only 10 weeks old 😫

Are the lives of kits good for the ones that the owner actually wants to keep? Like if lennon had kits and you kept them.

My rabbit has also eaten offspring, so I was very surprised. I want to meet her friend's baby, but I'm afraid it will happen again, so I'm not trying anymore.
