The Jeff mod archer, good enough for Jeff Beck(god rest his soul) and John Mayer who both put them on their boards. The dude, the archer(all versions of it), and the 45 caliber just work. J Rockett and Mythos pedals are examples of pedals that are straight forward and easy to dial a usable tone with.

I watch your demos not only because you make a hell of a job in describing and comparing in a detailed and professional way stuff, but also because you are one of the very few who is letting mistakes in the language be part of your characteristic... So thumbs up for you!👍👍👍 P.S.: just bought a Jeff Archer... Amazing pedal, very well defined and super transpy😆

J Rockett is a personal friend of mine. I have a couple copper-encased pedals from him. His original "boost" and "afterburner". Not sure how many were made but they're s/n# 20 and below. I feel special!!!! Oh, and all I use are Rockett pedals. I have the ones on this video and plenty more. I feel the price point is just about right for boutique pedals that offer more tone than your usual Boss and MXR lines. And trust in Jeff Beck and John Mayer... Do yourself a favor and buy an Archer to start!!!

Spot on with the Dude and singles coils. I actually play my single coils MORE with the Dude Pedal. It just thickens up the tone, and really responds to dynamics once you dial in the sweet spot. The .45 is on my list to get next. Rockett pedals are so good, it's like they just get that extra 10%-15% of detail that makes them stand out against similar pedals

Interesting video, I really enjoying using my J Rockets pedals, although the basic Archer and 45 Calibre are at the shoutier end of their range for my liking. I've got The Dude and its been at the end of my stacked gain pedal chain as a singing lead pedal, but its also gone weird and affects my amp, so I've replaced it with the Mark Lettieri Melody pedal, a combination of The Dude and The Blue Note pedals, but with an inclusive 6 band EQ. Likewise, I use the Steve Stevens Archer Rockaway pedal, at the front end of my pedal board, again with its 6 band EQ. Both pedals offer so much more tone and peak control. Regarding the Dude, the "Ratio" acts the gain control and the "Deep" is like moving from a 1x12 cab to a 2x12 and 4x12 set up, its expands the sound like no other pedal, and its better placed after other gain pedals. Get yourselves a J Rockett Broverdrive, check out the You Tubes

You might try a Catalinbread WIIO on the used market. They don’t produce them anymore. The Catalinbread RAH does the Hiwatt sound too so they dropped the WIIO. Also, a P90 equipped guitar is essential. Other considerations, if you want to spend the money, are Fane speakers. The Ascension A90 or A60 are fantastic speakers for the Leeds tone.

i found myself buying klon clone after klon clone...then one day I thought about how much I spent on pedals trying to get the Klon sound and realized I'd be better off just buying an actual Klon. Bought a Klon KTR 2 weeks ago, (believe it not, I found a brand new one in the box off the shelf at a small music store in a small village in Hawaii) for $600. It was played one time and been sitting on the shelf for sale since 2015. Mission Accomplished! Did the same thing for the King of Tone V4 w/ High Gain option...

Yeah, the JB does seem to have more presence to me- like you said, a little clearer not as mushed together. And if I were cutting some album or something where ppl would be scrutinizing my playing down to the minute nuances of my tone- I'd see the point. But not for live performance- i guarantee you once you run that through a PA and get it loud enough everyone can hear it, crank up the rest of the band- and ppl get a couple drinks in them- they will not be able to tell a difference, and neither would you. Besides, 90% of your audience doesn't gig, they play at home- and most of them do so alone, to backing tracks and stuff. It's laughable to think they need to spend 100 bucks to get a tiny bit more clarity or presence. If they want to- fine, but they don't "need" to. That said, I don't "need" about half the gear I own and use so- I'm guilty of it to. I would say if you have it, want to spend it- go for it- but if you can't do it- don't sweat it man, you'll have just as much fun with a cheaper pedal- I promise. I do- it's something I've noticed recently- that I'm enjoying my 25-dollar Pure Sky or Silver horse just as much as my Tumnus Deluxe or AT+.

I have a Keeley Oxblood that does heavier gain and light gain boost really well, but the mid-gain sounds are kind of muddy. @shaft9000 7 месяцев назад
A little, but not worth worrying about as if it's an early fuzz pedal or the like. Germanium *transistors* are typically susceptible to heat change, specifically the Ge transistor's biasing tends to go awry. While Ge diodes ARE heat-sensitive, it takes a lot more heat to produce a significant effect on the sound.
@coupe-lee
@coupe-lee 7 месяцев назад
@@shaft9000 Thanks. I first noticed it happen on one of my GE fuzzes, but just a slight change in sound. I saw the TPS episode where they lost all sound and that's made me avoid germanium since. Even just the slight change on my fuzz is kind of annoying at times. It makes sense that the diodes aren't as sensitive as the transistors since I've seen so many people use Tube Screamers in the hot sun quite a bit now that I think about that.

If you haven't yet : put the centaur at the **end** of your drive chain, keep the gain under half, and leave it on. Bill Finnegan designed it specifically to run his other pedals into _in order to get the break-up characteristics of a Twin at lower volume._ It isn't a 'dirt' pedal you kick in so much as a conditioner; everything going through it gets a light coat of it's "sauce".
