1898 Declaration of Philippine Independence, The Philippine Declaration of Independence was proclaimed by Filipino revolutionary forces general Emilio Aguinaldo on June 12, 1898, in Cavite el Viejo, Philippines. It asserted the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine islands from the 300 years of colonial rule from Spain. Wikipedia Dates: Jun 12, 1898 - Sep 29, 1898 Filipino Won the war (1898) with the spaniards (Spain) The United State Bought the Philippines from the spaniards (Spain) for twenty million dollars ($20million) PARIS TREATY 1898 to show that america had deafeated the spaniards (Spain) and also because the spaniards (Spain) could not accept that they had lost the war with the Filipino. The Philippine flag color red, white and blue. The blue means- justice, the red- means courage and the white means- peace. The 3 stars are the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, exalts itself into a LUZVIMINDA.

in all seriously, it's not advisable to flip our flag. because we don't have an alternative flag for war time, we use the same flag but in a different way.

The reverse flag (with the red side up) started during the Filipino-American war and not during the Japanese invasion.

The 8 rays symbolize the first provinces to rise arms against Spain but there's a controversy between 2 provinces theses are Morong(now Rizal) and Tarlac which It became the new seat of the first Philippine Republic in March 1899 when Emilio Aguinaldo abandoned the former capital, Malolos, Bulacan, this only lasted for 1 month. The 3 stars symbolize Luzon, Visayas, (originally Panay), and Mindanao. And you are correct, Philippines independence day is July 4, 1946, and not the fake independence day of June 12, 1898.

The indepence day is July 12, 1898 because our heroes fought for the indepence against Spain, unlike the July 4th that was just given. Freedom is a right and not something to be just taken away and then give back again like the US did.

Blue over read means peace over war and the eighth rays is for the eighth founding provinces/rebellion provinces there are more than eight provinces common misconceptions it's ~50 and red over blue means the opposite of blue over red

funfact: as soon as a filipino sees the philippine flag upside down, they uncontrollably switch into a war-timing footing instantly and will attack with complete disregard for their own life. so don't go flipping our flag nonchalantly in the streets, its our "unleash hell into the skies above" switch :D

Everything wrong with the video: 1. Red, blue and white does not symbolize the same as the French. White stands for "kapantaypantayan" (or equality), blue for "kapayapaan" (or peace) and red for "digmaan" (or war) 2. The eight rays actually do represent provinces, but they're not just the 8 provinces in the Philippines, but rather the ones who originally fought against the Spanish in the Philippine Revolutionary War. Those being Tarlac, Cavite, Pampanga, Batangas, Bulacan, Nueva Ejica, Laguna and Manila. 3. No, our independence day is not on July 4th, 1946 despite Google saying so. It is on June 12, changed because that was the day we got our independence from the Spanish. 4. The flag is *not* held upside down during Independence Day (on the 12th of June). We only do it during war time, and little known fact, holding it in the war orientation here in a public place is actually against the law and can either land you with a fine of P5,000 (85$) which might not seem like much to literally anybody else, but it is to us, and up to P20,000 (340$) or 1 year in prison. If holding the flag with the white triangle facing downwards the ground, the blue should be to the right (or left of the observer) in times of peace.
