One of George Lucas's philosophies in making Star Wars was that if something had to happen to move the plot forward, then it would happen. The example he used was "If I need someone to breath in space, then they'll breath in space." I'm never surprised at what they come up with. I'm just happy if it's at least plausible.

When I watched that scene, it reminded me of the crash scene in season 1 of the Clone Wars. "The Gungan General." And in that episode, a Republic shuttle was shot down, and the pilots died. The pilots ALWAYS die. Plot armor can be a little too obvious sometimes.

I'm surprised the kaminoans never implemented some form of failsafe in their clones in order to guarantee their survival. They knew the whole business was shady, that the enemy ordered the clones for the Republic, you would think they would have made sure that one day if the Republic/Empire saw the kaminoans as a threat or expendable, that their creations would protect them.
@jangofett1798
@jangofett1798 2 месяца назад
The kaminoans did not know that the enemy had ordered the clones for the republic. They believed that sifo-dyas, a Jedi, placed the order. Of course this was secretly Dooku, impersonating sifo-dyas. After Obi-Wan reveals to Lana Su that sifo-dyas was dead, Dooku continued to impersonate a Jedi, just under the name of Tyranus. In one clone wars episode in the arc where Tup executed order 66 prematurely, when Lama Su contacts Tyranus, after the conversation he or Nala Se (I think Nala Se) turns and says something to the effect of “these Jedi are a curious bunch”

If I were a shuttle designer, when a crash is detected, I would cut power to nonessential systems, and reroute all power to maximize the inertial dampeners and structural reinforcement devices. Like "emergency mode only your device will be useless after using this because the circuits burn out after a short time" kind of emergency power. I figure that would be enough to ensure most occupants survive.

We must remember that although Star Wars technology seems familiar to us, the materials used to build their vehicles are much more advanced than ours. We are talking about a pan-galactic civilization with technologies thousands of years ahead of us. In Star Wars, space vehicles are made with materials much stronger than those found on Earth such as Durasteel, capable of flying faster than light and with technologies capable of creating artificial gravity, nullifying G forces and deadly radiation in space. Who doesn't remember when the Sith used the shuttle to make a hole in the Jedi temple? Furthermore, if you are a protagonist, the force is with you.

I definitely wasn't expecting this to be the topic of choice, I was banking on you talking about the incompetence of the Imperials, since I don't think we ever got that video you said you'd do talking about it back in you're video discussing why the PSF were better than the GAR, I could be wrong, but usually, when it comes to TV or entertainment media like yours I have a decently good memory, as I proved a few videos ago when I mentioned all the episodes or events from The Clone Wars you've properly covered in one form or another. But to answer you're comment at the end, I definitely learned stuff, both about Star Wars and the real world, because I never really cared about that stuff before, but like always Gettsly you can make anything sound at least a little interesting.

G force without an impact can absolutely kill you before the landing and there's certainly reasons why fighter jets require pressure suits and oxygen masks. The maneuvers and speed runs they do would turn your insides into a non-vegan friendly smoothie. Just flying around at the medium speed of a fighter jet causes many times more pressure than what you said is fatal. You can easily blackout and have your lungs fail you which certainly isn't just a sprained ankle from your seat on a Southwest flight.

We really need to severely limit the absurd amounts of gunship and aerial transport crash scenes not just in Star Wars, but also in other fiction. Let's just say I'm annoyed at seeing trusty Blackhawk helicopters do such that with occasional huge casualties in games like F.E.A.R.+Extraction Point and the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trilogy, for one.

At the end of the day, it’s all plot armor, but if it settles the troubled mind, SW has inertial dampeners that can almost completely negate G forces, allowing pilots to pull off ridiculously sharp turns and changes to momentum. If they work in the way their name implies, they likely also reduce or nearly negate the forces one would normally experience in a crash landing. So if you can reliably level the vessel and stick a sort-of landing, you could theoretically get away with no whiplash or caved in craniums. Crash landings aren’t new to SW. Luke had survived a pretty high speed landing into the Dagobah swamp. Even if the ship held together, he probably should’ve experienced severe if not lethal whiplash. And let’s not forget jumping off of speederbikes at speeds high enough to pulverize bone. But Luke and Leia don’t seem to have had much trouble bouncing back from those.
