I'm having a really tinfoil hat day: Claus has been calling out cheaters lately and now there's a lot of scam comments in his comment section. Probably just a coincidence, but I can't help but think he's attracted the ire of some internet goons.
Because it's a good distraction from life, sometimes you do get a great game, and because Claus gives an awesome critique of what needs fixed in this game.
@@zincasbaptista1014You fool:) Lmao sure play unreal game with invisible shots, mods that give you any cheat and balance that ruins most of fun+rigging+inasne greedy WG+most tanks exist on paper, did i miss something? Lol(sarcasm).
I started playing because I spent 8 years in the Army as a Tanker (19E/19K) on both the M60 and M1....Continue to play because I am a masochist at heart. Rock on 🤘😈
@@grumpykingtiger4593 That's about when I was in. 84-92 - Knox, Germany (5+ years), Ben Harris, Irwin (NTC Sucked), and I'm a 105 rifled guy over 120 smooth 🤣
Utterly amazing! We have witnessed the precise moment when a man achieved the lofty recognition of becomig equal to Plato and the others of that ilk. Congrats, Claus, on becoming an eternal wiseman.
Thank you Claus for presenting the roots of gaming addiction. I'm in my 60s and I've been a gaming addict since I was a teenager playing pinball. I'm heavily into World of Warships, but have abandoned World of Tanks after several months-long (but widely separated) periods of activity. Basically, it's because Warships has an easy mode and Tanks doesn't. I can play Warships for hours, get missions accomplished, and almost never lose a game. Also, in Tanks I'm mired in my own muppetry, even in my latest foray, which was a couple of weeks of low-tier free-to-play. I also find that the joy of success doesn't outweigh feelings of failure, plus I notice that nearly 1/3 of players (including experienced Tier X players) usually wind up doing no damage in typical games. I do enjoy Tanks videos, especially yours, though your attitude towards the game shows that you live in a different tankiverse than I do.
I was a 5 handicap golfer for awhile when I had time to play almost every day. I was always pissed because I never made an ace. I came so close so many times it was ridiculous. My buddy was a hacker, we played together a lot. He made a legit hole in one while I was playing with him one time and later that year he sculled one on a short par three and it rolled all the way to the green and went in the whole for his second hole in one that year. Later that year some a**hole broke into his house in the middle of the night and killed him. There's your dynamic RNG. RIP Jack
@@hatman4818 Yeah, we were both in our forties and neither one of us would have ever come close to being pro golfers. Claus' story just reminded me of him. At least he got to have a few fun times before he got in the way of some deranged lunatic. There's some cruel mfers in this world. Peace
I don't play anymore and haven't for 3 years. While I really enjoyed the raw gameplay of the game, there are too many flaws that will never get fixed, and the bulk of the content they prioritize is an OP tier 8 premium for $40. The maps are absolutely terrible.
Claus has figured it out, everyone is hoping for that one moment of euphoria! A team mate once was proud of getting a third class in a battle earlier that day. That made up for his 42% overall winrate in the game. He was not joking.
This game can be a health issue. I had 0 games in this month, 4 weeks of detox... Now I want to play less (No more than 15 games a day) and stop spending money in it (all payment methods eliminated)... Ill try to be strong 😐
You hit the nail on the head! One of the last times I was at a Casino, I was walking past a roulette table while going back to my room after losing about $300. I thought what the hell, threw some money on the table and put it all on 2, before the dealer/baller rolled the marble she said why don't you put it on 1 it's a better bet? I usually play craps, I don't no a thing about roulette and being the only player at the table I said ok. She rolled the ball round and round it go and yep landed on the 1! Mind blown! Broke even after tipping her handsomely. But, I did have to pay for room service when we woke up the next morning. Nice girl. All true except for the last part. ADDICTION! ONE HELL OF A DRUG!
It took me a week to learn the precise hook to handle the approach on hole 4 (238m, invisible flag and fairway, par 3) on 'Golf in Wall' (north of Berlin) on the public 9-hole. My friends hate me since.
As said below, Caus is a WOT goeroe. In fact he is more, he is a visionare who sees the different paths of life entangled in the RNG of a tankgame. It’s hallucinating.
After spending a fortune on this game for 7 years, I quit this game. I was always mad when playing this game. Figured why am I paying too be miserable.
Great vid. It's not just winning/losing but also the challenge of improving. I agree the RNG is too much ... but only by a bit. Perhpas 20% is more reasonable, but yes you definitely need variables.
There is an experiment with rats and pressing a button to get a treat, one rat gets treats all the time the other rat gets treats intermittently when pressing the button, the outcome is the rat with the intermittent treat keeps pressing the button a lot more than the other rat, there is a heightened level of expectation. This directly relates to why humans gamble, especially on slot machines, getting a win all the time is boring, anticipation of a win is more addictive.
The thing I never understood about this game, is "critical hit" literally has the complete opposite meaning from every other game... In every other game, a critical hit does loads of bonus damage or has other effects... In WOT, a critical hit means "well, you hit it, but did nothing..."
Same here, only for a laugh of the commentary. Although Claus his arguments today are not that smart. Removing RNG would make me considering going back to game
You buy the most expensive property put hotels on it and the dice says "no fun for you", nobody lands on it but you keep landing on their stations; and that's why I don't play monopoly.
I usually have a crack addiction in online games. It used to be Maplestory, now it is WoT. Just started playing Lost Ark. It might replace WoT. Hopefully.
Claus, your Texas hold ‘em example was a bit off… the guy with the Aces would’ve won! He also had a full house but higher (A-A-A-7-7 vs 7-7-7-2-2)! But your point is well taken: the thrill of victory in WoT doesn’t happen without so much agony along the way.
5:35 description of dynamic range describe very well how girls (especially young ones) fall in love. They may want on the end solid good guy who will take care of them but on the way those kind of guys are boring. They prefer troublemakers, guys about they're not sure if fellas are interested in girl. They want a man that once feels like a perfect boyfriend/partner but once a while treat them in very bad way, disappear or cheat on them... not because that preferred treatment but cause it brings some dynamics and thrill.
I stopped playing back in February or March of 2022. I didn't have any fun anymore. The battles didn't seem fair, they were all one sided 15-3 matches, RNG kept seeming more and more like Russian number generator; it just stopped being fun.
Hi Klaus. Great stuff, keep it up. Skinner calls this "intermittent reinforcement" where rewards are given at irregular intervals and are enough to keep you playing. Win all the time - boring. Never win - what's the point; no reinforcement! We are puppets as well as occasional muppets.
it's called self inflicted pain...masochism...beat your head against the keyboard...and if someone comes along with a better game, we will all switch to that.
9:18 the difference between your hole in one analogy and WOT is: in golf, it's you and the natural elements around you. In WOT it is an artifically created number based on whether you have done well, or not in the last 5 battles. In your golf analogy, it's like out on the course, there's someone with a high pressure air nozzle.....if you are good enough to get a hole in one 4 out of 10 times, that person will spray the high pressure nozzle at your ball to send it off course and force you to only score a hole in one 1 out of 10 times. Why? "because it would be unfair to other players to let you be good enough to score a HIO 4 out of 10 times. WOT is like participation medals and not keeping score on kid's soccer games. "if billy scores every time he kicks at the net, that would make the goalies feel bad so we allow other players to tackle or trip billy to prevent him from scoring. Not to mention, the coaches put lead weights on billy's legs so he can't run as fast.
Makes sense what you say. Never mentioned it till I listened (I mean really listening) about the human being and the game it plays. Thanks man! Play WOT for more then 7 years and am mediocre but still enjoy it :-D
Claus, 999 people who play golf do so to drink swath amounts of beer ... the frustrated guy didn't throw his club entirely over the game, he did so cuz he was drunk.
3 ace hand would have a bigger full house, Aces over 7s, other guy 7s over 2s and a call cannot be raised prior to the next card on the table being put down
I played the other day, first time in nearly two years, pretty much the same game. I like tank games, back to the first tank game I played in the late 70's all green lines like in Asteroids of the same era, but from the interior of a tank. It pales to todays game... but that didn't matter because the feeling/notion of being in the tank was exciting regardless.
I accept that they have to fiddle the game a bit to keep the game interesting but it means you can't actually improve and so 50% to 52% (without playing clans or using a boosting service) is the best you will ever get.........but last night I had a game where it was so obviously specific that lag only occurred when I was about to get a really good shot.
Screw a Keyboard.... MARTY needs golf clubs for dogs lol (I watched yesterday episode) I always do, because it's Today, and, Tomorrow never ever gets here🤔🤣😂 Thanks CLAUS 👍💯❤️
The balance in WOT is odd though as you can be in a consistent losing run where nothing seems to work and your aimed shots don't pen or "vaporise" without damage and then suddenly you have a game where every shot lands and you land shots that really weren't aimed and you have an overwhelming victory........the "swings" are too wide.
I actually left the game over a year ago now, so it IS possible... Deleted the account (they make you wait 45 days lol) .. I now just watch others tear their hair out instead of me.
In what other game can you perform 10 times better than your team and still lose? Cricket. The only game where you play against 11 opponents and 10 teammates.
I have to disagree Claus. The RNG should be scrapped for penetration and damage. If a shell can penetrate 268mm of armour then that''s what it should frigging penetrate (allowing for angling/slope of armour etc) and I would be much happier if my shell that had 490 damage actually did 490 on each penetration. I would prefer having that consistency over not knowing whether I will leave them on 1 HP because of a low roll.
I can play as little or as much as I want, from a couple of quick random battles, to several hours of grinding or skirming with the clan. I used to play FPS but my twitch ability diminishes with age, so now I like playing WOT yelling "get off my lawn" at all you kids... Plus I can play SPG while eating a sandwich and drinking beer...
I trade options on index products on the US markets. We use logic, reason, probabilities, and spreadsheets to get an edge. I personally have about an 85% profit rate per trade (not counting hedges which I hope to lose money on). At the end of October ( the last full month) I was at an annual rate of return of 95.1% based on daily risk.
From World of Tanks to playing Golf to Texas Holdem! Amazing, this only happens on Claus channel. Great video, great topic and a lot of entertaining, thx Claus! :D
It’s the same tools bill collectors use. If they can illicit a strong emotional reaction from you, (purposely make you angry by the way they talk to you) the more likely you are to pay the bill.
Wait a minute... Guy A has a pair of aces, guy B has a 2 & 7. On the table is 2, 7, 9, followed by an ace, and a 7. Guy A wins with a full house of aces over 7's. Also, I don't play WoT. I'm only here for Claus. Golfer used his 7 iron instead of the 9 iron because he threw the 9 iron in the lake after bending it by hitting a tree in rage :)
I quit playing WOT's in protest to the developers refusal to address the blatant cheating that goes on and the fact that they keep nerfing every tank I get a crew trained to level 4 or above on.
@Klaus Kellerman I'm not sure if a totally agree with you on RNG. Its one thing to have a variant in RNG and having the game totally against you every game for a period of time. Nerfing skill so less skilled players have a better chance at doing well is like getting a participation trophy for just showing up. In that case why even learn how to play? But to say it would get boring if RNG didnt totally ruin your games isnt true because we see it in FPS games like COD. COD is one of the most played online games. Matter a fact FPS games are more popular than WOT or Blitz for a reason. How many people are leaving the game due to MM and RNG? Was the game not more fun before the radical changes? I think most people who stay in the game are living in the nostalgic of the old game.
Sorry that 114 game showed how completely unaware the player was in that game. They spammed premium at every tank even though so many of them didn’t need it and showed zero situational awareness. He did loads of damage, but completely ignored the cap and minimap until the game was gone. He should have lost way earlier if the enemy had just capped out. Not sure what they had to complain about in the circumstances. Also, the issue we have with WOT isn’t the fact there is RNG, it’s the amount of RNG and how it impacts everything about the game. The variables involved on aiming, penetration and damage rolls means there is so many ways that you can get trolled by the game.
