Worship is an act of devotional service. As the name dictates, devotional service is about serving and true service can only occur by surrendering oneself. By surrendering, you seek refuge in the one who is the ultimate. Worship is the way to be connected with the Divine, to thank His grace in your life. He is within each one of us, present in our existence and by praying, we gain strength and prove worthy of his Grace. A devotional service is one that makes you a more compassionate and loving person. It is accepting what you have been given with this unshakeable faith; that no matter what happens, I will be devoted to the Divine.
If you are praying with the mindset of believing that everything in your life will be okay because you are chanting day in and day out, then it is not worship, devotion or the prayer. You are simply following a ritual from a scripture without knowing its true meaning. We should remember that our religion, prayers and beliefs should not just be a routine. Their purpose is to help us grow intellectually and spiritually, so that we can leave a positive mark in the world. It is not enough to simply accept what somebody else has written or what their beliefs are or to follow their path. You must discover your own path, guided by your own beliefs, truths and emotions.
