Hi Luc Privileged access. I have been in the Aviation industry for 40 years. Retired recently and volunteering for NASM for the past 20 years. Access to the Preservation of one of kind artifacts in the collection of a museum has been a privilege. It has given me a behind the scenes look at what really goes on. Working as an Engineer for the Brits also gave me access to many celebrities and dignitaries who traveled the world on our aircraft. Thanks you for your videos.
Very cool. A few years ago I booked a bus from Cancun and winged it south with no plan. Ended up visiting Caye Caulker, Belize City, the Ewok Star Wars temples, and ultimately ended up in Antigua, Guatemala as a DJ for 3 months. Sometimes no plan works as well as having a half baked one. The real fun begins when you find yourself somewhere with zero cash and credit cards . The world works in mysterious ways and I think it’s awesome to have people like yourself documenting it and unskewing the opaqueness of it all. It’s a both a burden and a privilege to see the shades of grey isn’t it. If the situation in Lebanon improves I’m booking a flight tomorrow.
Really inspiring, I love your chamnel, and particularly your openness around mistakes and lessons learned. Thanks so much Luc. Privileged access brings such rich insights hey? For the last 18 years I've been supporting organisations and communities that meed/want to change. Now though I feel more driven to document stories, both past and future focussed, as a vehicle to support what I've been doing - in no small way thanks to you and Mark Bone 😉
Brave of you to share your experiences. I’m very critical of YT videos and I use it to distract myself while footage is being rendered or because I need tech support to rig my camera but most “filmmakers” are just Madonas looking for attention. I enjoyed watching your 2 videos and I am wondering if we could connect. Where are you based? Thanks again
I realized that l have a privileged access to people in general and artists in particular when I was a radio host over here in Montreal Now, as a documentary journalist/filmmaker l do have privileged access to people as you describe it Luc. Thanks BTW for your very professional YT channel, and the very valuable knowledge you share with us!
Sitting here watching this with a beer at the airport after completing a week long documentary trip to Ethiopia. First international trip in two years, Luc I echo this sentiment!
Hi, i was looking in the past videos to find if you explain about your grip for the camera or handles. The ones with the red dots that looks like are adjustable. Do you mind telling me or making a video about them?
hi i'm also exploring the career path of documentary filming, what camera would u recommend for beginners who want to experiment with video filming and photography?
Dude. You are the real deal. You have balls. Really cool stuff. I was recently asked by someone of semi-fame to do something like this... I have kids and a wife. The younger me would have jumped. Still thinking about it though...
can i work in documentary filming without having experience in, and particularly liking photography or filming? I do have tremendous curiosity about the world and the lifestyle of traveling and talking to different people and learning about them and different societies though
Great video year and half ago i will just not even imagine that i will be addicted to documentary filmmaking myself. Before that i visited 156 countries and i kinda regret that i didn't get into it sooner
I'm exactly the same... I used to travel a lot hitch-hiking in the middle east and Asia / Africa and Europe, often living among local people there. But sadly this type of lifestyle is only good for single people (with very few exceptions). If your spose want more stable life and sattle down, she's gonna be like your anchor (one place, orgenized holidays only, stable income, good schools for children, life insurance and medical insurance etc.), but you are right for some it may be the best job ever. Thanks God we are not all documentry makers otherwise we would all do the same stuff documenting other filmmakers 😉🤣🎞🎬📽World is much more interesting place when we do different things but there is a need of these very few brave men to film it... having the best job ever!
Great video, I am also curious about how to actually become a documentary film maker, how can I start? I used to be in the Peace Corps, and that gave me privileged access to Ecuadorian culture.
Great idea! I think there are probably a few different videos that need to be made to tackle this subject, but I"m on it. Might take a bit, but I'll get there. Thanks!
