It's called Campero because it is the classical shape of the knife folks used in the countryside (el campo) when working here in Spain. It is a totally Spanish knife, included its history :)

All I can say is that I have watched your Joker Lynx and Nomad videos. There was even a bit on the Joker Nessmuck. You made the choice for me to choose Joker. They are a phenomenal knife all around. It is hard to find something wrong with them. I currently own the Nomad. Simply awesome and will be adding the Joker Nessmuck soon. I wanted to carry the Nessmuck as I am from the Adirondacks and would find it honorable to carry a knife so similar to the one carried by George Washington Sears. Again, I can attest to the craftsmanship and the durability of these knives. They are kinda stand alone. I am so glad that you opened the door to the Joker company and that I took your advice. Truly the best knife maker out there. The Nomad is a beast.

As a french citizen I am proud of our history and culture when it comes to knives, but I have to admit that I LOVE spanish cutlery brands : Joker, J&V, Muela, Salamandra, Nieto, etc... They tend to build very good models, durable, no matter if it's about producing folders or fixed blades. Still found of their MoVa58 steel, a kind of 1.4116 with very good HT bringing it to 58HRC, it reminds me of Buck's 420HC quality when compared to other manufacturers. But it's also about the design, the quality of the materials involved, the prices.

I watched this video at least twice, if not more. I think your videos are what introduced me to Joker Knives. As good as Joker Knives are, I’m surprised i don’t see more about them out there. I feel that they are flying under the radar a bit. At their price point, they’re a great value. The sheaths are awesome also. I have a Trampero. It’s a pretty neutral handled knife. Yet when you slide the knife in, it lightly snaps into place. Colour me impressed.

While traveling through Spain in December of 2022 I wanted to get a fixed blade to help with cooking dinners and such, I went to a local hunting shop and found the Joker Arrui 9 for the whopping price of €27 euros at the time was essential the same value as the USD. When I first saw the handle o thought it was plastic b/c of the price. But the owner told me it was olive wood which is a very dence and hard wood, it has a full tang and stainless I was sold immediately. It's sharp but I can't shave with it.. regardless it's been a great tool. I wanted to see what other thought about its quality and I landed on your video. I'm now thrilled that I was lucky enough to stumble on a quality brand knife that will last me a lifetime and for such a great price! Thanks for the review of the other blades too! Best of luck with 2023!

I've just bought the Joker Compero for hunting. Haven't yet used it on a deer but I'm keen to see how it handles field butchering compared to my original Coldsteel Master Hunter in carbon V steel which is what I judge all my other knives against. I'm very pleased with the design and overall finish of the Compero especially considering the overall price of $145 Australian delivered. If Joker offered a Kydex style sheath I would probably have gone with that over the leather purely for practical reasons. Great reviews, keep it up.

Very cool. No experience with Joker Knives, but a good bit of experience with Bohler steels like N690 and K720, and Sandvik 14C28N has become one of my favorites to be honest. I grew up in south Florida and live in the East Appalachian Temperate Rain Forest. I learned to appreciate a good stainless blade many years ago and with the right heat treat and cryo-quench the 14C28N is an impressive blade steel.

I bought a Joker Canadiense with walnut handle scales a few years back. In short, I love it. The build quality is superb, the steel really holds an edge and is tough, and it came shaving sharp. I did eventually put my own edge on it (just a bit thinner), because I'm so used to it, but it's really just fine the way it comes. And, like you said, the sheath is outstanding. You would pay a lot for the sheath alone to have one made. My only regret is not buy the micarta version, for the added texture/grip. I felt like staying super traditional at the time, lol.

When it comes to fixed blades I've always stuck with bark river 3v or 154 cm knives this year I need to experience other brands like I do with folders is there any brand you can recommend say between 300 to 500 dollars I heard dark timbers are good

Nice knives, but after carrying outstanding BPS and Rapid-Fire fixed blades for the last 4 years during extensive hiking and camping trips, I found these to be practically indestructible. Whether stainless or D2 steels, they maintain a very sharp cutting edge, resistance to rust and are less expensive. As always, however, thank you for your informative videos!

Ruike knives (pronounced 'Rake') makes a nice fixed blade model called the Jager F118. The blade steel is 14C28N with a 4.3" length. At about $63 on Amazon, it is a very nice knife. The handle may be a bit short for large hands, but the contour of the handle and fit & finish is very good. I have used it and it makes a very good camp knife. Seems competitive to the Joker knife.

Just rediscovered your channel again not long ago, idk why I ever stopped watching it's good content. But do you still have the tops mohawk hunter or use it anymore? I actually bought it bc of your review and after a few years now it's still a great blade. I take it hunting and hiking with me and also have it in the truck when I'm at work or on the farm. Great knife

J&V Knives, Cudeman, Muela, Miguel Nieto and Joker, of course... As a Spanish guy I own several of every brand and You should take a look at Cudeman or Nieto too. You will not regret it. For example, one of my preferits is my Nieto Chaman in Bohler N690co or, if I had to choose between any beast type like my BK2 or the Cudeman Entresierras for a humidity situations, definitly I'll choose the Cudeman. Just saying.

Same... I own several knives from Miguel Nieto, Muela, Joker, Cudeman etc ... And I love them all. Great knives ! My favourite ones are the Nieto Chaman MK140 + and my Cudeman (I forgot the exact name sorry). Speaking about the Chaman I just got its neck knife variant : the Chaman Micra. And for a small neck knife it's beautiful , very thick and sturdy balade and has the same AN-58 Steel. I'm impressed. Anyway I can't recommend enough those spanish knives brands.

I bought two jokers the nomad and bushcrafter.... Normally I buy upscale knives but I took a chance on these jokers buying knives that I usually like to spend a lot more for quality... But these two jokers I got r by far my most favorite knives. The edge sharpness is beyond unreal. I have no high end knife that even gets close to compare. They cut thru wood like a razor thru a pear. I try to grab other knives going out but I always end up just grabbing my jokers.they r true outdoor knives. I normally dont like leather sheaths but there's r soo well made. Buy joker knives cuz you'll have ur best go to knife that surpasses yur supposedly higher end more spendy knives. Best knives I ever used.

G'day Aaron, yep they're less expensive than many of my folders, lol. Might have mentioned before I've batoned the Nomad through Aussie redgum fence posts with no deformation of the edge and hardly a scratch. Not something I'll continue to do, unless in case of emergency, but If it can do that for under 100 USD with the bonus of stain....less properties and outstanding ergos, I'm sold !!!!. Cheers Duke.

@@gideonstactical in fairness, it was with the grain, I just had to know how far it could go, the price threw me completely, lol. Think I paid around 140 AUD, roughly 90-100 USD at the time. As it stands on exchange rate, this one would come in around 100 AUD + shipping. Sure very different designs but even your CS SRKs, Strongarms and the like, struggle to compete with Joker bang for buck wise. Btw; prices are sneaking up here, I expect in part due to logistics issues i.e. supply and demand, on top of "normal" inflationary pressures. My point is; if its within ones means, probably pay to grab what you really need/want sooner rather than later.

I have two of the Montero models, one in a flat grind with tan micarta & red linners and another one with a scandal grind and curlybirch with black linners. Both came with matching handles on the ferro rods! "Never seen that before "Then you add a really nice leather sheath that would typically run about $50. All delivered to your door for around $120 each. I mean seriously, Muy Bueno me amigos!

UPDATE: I now own a stag handled Nessmuk and the Campero with Olive Wood handle. The first Nessmuk I received was a little wonky and exchanged it for another with a more symmetrical handle from left to right. The Campero does not have the fit and finish quality of my Lynx (seamless between scales and tang/liners). I wanted to note that my Campero does not have J Sabater on the blade and was wondering if you knew anything about Jokers that are not marked as such when others are. Thanks.

I just received in the mail my first Joker knife, it literally arrived yesterday. I bought the LUCHADERA with a stag handle and Mo V 1.4116 steel I have no idea if it's a good steel or not but I love the look and feel of the knife and the sheath compliments it nicely it will probably be my new EDC belt knife and I'll see how the steel performs over time.
@alphaomegasurvivalsupply6548
@alphaomegasurvivalsupply6548 2 года назад
4116 is a German stainless steel that other brands have used such cold steel, and thats what they use on the pocket bushman which is really tough. As long as you know how to sharpen that steel won't bother you, doesn't hold an edge the longest but its good and tough (assuming it has a proper heat treat, which im sure it does lol)
@mfreeman313
@mfreeman313 2 года назад
That steel gets used a lot in high-end kitchen knives. It's more on the toughness end, but for an outdoors knife that's a good thing IMHO.
@michaelwaldeck7081

After doing some research on 4116 I would probably go with 14c28n next time. It seems to be an all-round performer.

I have some of those knives my self. I think they are excellent too. Sure, one can get better steels then sanvic and so on, but that's not the point. For the price you pay, one gets excellent quality. There are some more good knifebrands out there like Fox Knifes". Would like to see a review of JEO TEC Knives. Especially the JEO TEC No21 that I have my self. Also there one gets exceptional quality for a good price, I think better than from some well known knivebrands we all know. Keep up the good work on the channel!

I have the BushCrafter, the Ember, the Lynx, and the Ursus is on its way. Almost all other brands in the same league here in Canada are close to twice the price. The quality, fit and finish on these are second to none ( and I have Benchmade, Casstrom, Esee, Tops, Cudeman, Mora, etc. ). The quality of the leather sheaths alone on the BushCrafter and the Ember are fantastic. I was showing the BushCrafter to a local Leathersmith and he was very impressed with the quality, and his estimate to build the sheath was almost as much as I paid for the knife with the sheath. Here in Canada we deal with a lot of humidity and the stainless steels are pretty much a necessity. The Bohler steel is a joy to work with and holds and edge. There is a long history of knife \ sword making in Spain and one of those places is in Albacete dating back to at least the 1600s and its where Joker knives are made today. Spaniards make good knives!
