So here is the bigger question, why can't Sha'Carrie Richardson file an appeal. After all France made her walk 1 hr to another gate and didn't allow her to warm up.
crazy that both Romanian Federation and the American federation have agreed on having both athletes getting a medal and FIG is the real one denying this resolution and creating a case
@@roycealgonquin8139 There was a second Romanian gymnast (Sabrina Voinea) who would have scored even higher than Jordan if the judges didn't mess up her score. They deducted her for an out of bounds mistake she did not commit. So technically, Sabrina Voinea is the one who should have gotten the bronze, not Jordan or Ana.
No, Jordan should keep 3rd, doesn't matter if multiple judging errors were made at the time of the event, otherwise if we scrutinize the scoring of Everyone after the fact you would see that judges made mistakes across the board for multiple competitors. Whatever the judges decide at the time of the event should stand. People are only scrutinizing this after the fact because Jordan is biracial up against a Caucasian. When Aly Raisman' was rescored into 3rd no one went back after the fact to scrutinize videos to see if she really deserved it, they just accepted the judges decision and that other country didn't try to strong-arm the medal back from Aly like Romania is doing to Jordan.
This was so wrong but I saw both floor performers but the romenians had a more difficult routine.i think both should be given a bronze that's a mistake on the judges
In 2012 at the London Olympics the Romanian Catalina Ponor was stripped of her bronze medal in favor of Aly Raisman after an inquiry. I am glad that the Romanian Federation has decided this time to not accept quietly this outrageous situation and to fight for their gymnasts who have been treated and marked unfairly. See the case of Sabrina Voinea penalized for a mistake she never made. She should have been on the third place. It is time that the US stops bullying small nations into giving up their well deserved medals in favor of American athletes.
This wasn’t a matter of the U.S. bullying anyone. Romania falsely claimed that the inquiry was made 4 seconds after the allotted time. That was incorrect because the U.S. coach made the inquiry twice within 1 minute. All three of the girls should’ve gotten bronze, but now this bronze medal is tainted with controversy.
@carmen - yes, they don't know how to lose and think Romania is a docile country which can be robbed of medals as they want. The whole world saw that and condemned their atitudes. Now, their media is charging strongly against Romania and in favor of their gymnasts. Jordan - 5th place. Judges were correct. It was attempt against the Romanian swimmer David Popovici too made by England - bronze medal.
Better is quite relative. Scoring higher is what counts, taking into account difficulty of exercise and performing that exercise. Romanians may have had a better performance, but a lower difficulty. Both count.
Exactly right thanks for saying that, and I'm an American. Her crying and acting like a baby about it, just makes me angry as an American as well. The Romanian girls weren't crying lol.
the girls were crying. there are recordings everywhere showing they cried lol. plus both girls said they'll be quitting gymnastics after this. it shows their poor experience at the olympics.@@metalmacabre9991
I pray this may be a huge blessing in disguise for Jordan... She'll be getting more press than she's ever gotten for at least the next couple weeks...even more than Simone; hope she can translate that into greater platform and prosperity🙏🏿
I would like to see proof that the American Inquiry was 4 seconds over the allocated 1 minute. If this is true, why has no supporting evidence been presented? And if the US had proof of the inquiry taking less than 1 minute, why were they not allowed to present it? It is either 4 seconds over, or it wasn’t. Why all of the secrecy?
This was horribly handled. I feel for the Romanian athlete cause she wasn’t able to stand on the podium and celebrate and I feel for Chiles who has to return the medal
I hate this... And yet, I believe this may be a huge blessing in disguise for Jordan... She'll be getting more press than she's ever gotten for at least the next couple weeks...even more than Simone, because of the controversy; hope Jordan can translate that into greater platform and prosperity for herself🙏🏿
From all the news reports I've read, I haven't seen any proof from the Romanian Federation that the coaches inquiry was 4 seconds late. Which is what started this media disaster. Did they just say it was late and the IOC said, "Okay, give back the medal." What evidence did they provide showing the inquiry was late? The Americans have video proof it wasn't, so where did the Romanian Federation come up with 4 seconds? And excuse me, 4 seconds? Really? Could you be more petty?!!
Yes, it strongly is looking like the Romanian Federation submitted a dishonest and inaccurate appeal in bad faith and it didn’t get properly rejected- likely because of an assumption that they wouldn’t be trying to cheat the system that badly
As it should be, she doesnt deserve the medal. Jordan's execution is poorly done with all thos low chest, multiple steps, flexed feet, crooked splits and robotic dance. Congratulations Romania well deserve
Funny, since you're not a judge... basically, you dont know what you're talking about. And there is a chance she will keep the medal she earned and deserved. Wheres yours?
I don’t understand why people are saying the Romanian gymnast should also be awarded the medal. She never won. After Jordan’s score changed her score was higher, which means the judges made a mistake in the initial scoring. So, that makes Jordan the winning candidate.
Medalia de bronz i-a rămas lui Jordan care a fost și pe podium. Anei i s-a dat alta medalie. Iar numele de familie al Anei e Bărbosu și nu Barbosa, sa n-o confundam cu Jade Barbosa.😳
Haha, she never won by true merrit. She only has the metal because of false allegations that won’t be objectively examined. So, Bravo nothing. She didn’t win.
Don't worry, Jordan can keep this medal, Ana doesn't need it. She will be given another medal. The initial one is toxic. It is about pain and sadness. Keep it Jordan! It will always remember you that your coach and the corrupt judges tried to steal other girls' work, it will always remember you of the ordeal they unfortunately made you go through. I really believe this is not your fault!
Imagine winning a competition, but the other guy got the medal because of administrative mishap? Also, what's up with the Romanian prime minister to threatening to boycott the closing ceremony because he thought ONE of the athletes should've won 3rd place? How terrible is it that now Ana Barbosu knows whenever she looks at that bronze medal everyone knows that it wasn't really won based on her performance, but due to some Olympic admin-jokers messing it all up.
@johno - imagine winning a bronze medal and some unhappy coach creating an international mess. Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Voinea ARE the righ winners, and the whole world know that.
I an not an expert on any of this. But I find it odd that about 80% of the articles on Chiles have blocked chat. And I do not believe in coincidence, that the head of the panel which rules on a Romanian medal has spent years with the Romanian team. And I find it odd that both countries have worked out a solution but the panel has it's own agenda. And I find it odd that oh let's us the China swim team as an example, some teams can find ways around stipulations made by the Olympic panels (like testing positive for banned substance) but Olympic panels seem to go the extra mile to "squeeze' American Olympians. That is an awful lot of odd things for one situation. Like I said, I am not an expert on any of this.
The panel members (the CAS to be specific) who ruled on Jordan’s medal appeal have been known to help Romania in their legal cases. It’s not fair to Jordan or to anyone involved. She shouldn’t have to give the medal back. USA gymnastics better keep fighting for her
The US won over 125 medals and they had to bully a Romanian girl for her bronze! How despicable can the US behave? Chile is greedy and has poor sportsmanship skills. Booo! 👎 👎 👎
@@HighSpeedChaser Based on the judging of the floor routine, she was fourth place. But they did award her the bronze,, so I think she should also be allowed to keep it along with Jordan.
@@mdb1239 The judges incorrectly deducted points from Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, who would have been 3rd place regardless of what the outcome of the review of Chiles performance was.
@@mdb1239 yes, they did. The appeal was rejected because the rules state you can't appeal deductions. My point remains valid. She should not have been penalised and would have placed 3rd if the judges scored her correctly.
