Why does Pen look so upset in this scene from Episode 2 of S3?  

cannot wait, penn is underrated af. she looks stunning, they both do! their romantic hairstyles, and even their wardrobe aligns better than most their shots, this season is going to be amazing 🫶✨🫶✨🫶✨

My question is why is her hair down? It was scandalous to leave it down. Julia Quinn brought it up a lot in the books. Usually they let it out when they are done for the day. I wonder if she went home and Colin followed her after she left him abruptly. My 🤡 theory is that Colon follows her after seeing her fail miserably and is frustrated that he won’t talk with her. He surprises her in the garden as she’s crying and she then tells him what he did.

She's not upset. She appears to be scared, hurt and sad. Maybe it's after the first try with the new look, and it doesn't end well, and it's their first kiss scene, where she just wants to know what it's like to be kissed, because she believes no one will love her.

Maybe Colin's just discovered that Pen is Lady Whistledown?

I think this is either where he is confronting her for ignoring him and she runs and he chases her. Or she is going to fail to attract suitors by herself at first and she will fail (based on the season 3 synopsis). I think at the end of this scene there’s going to be an “oh shit” moment where they almost kiss because it looks heated and they both realize the depths of their feelings.

If this is from a scene dealing with bad luck with her suitors, it is very possible this is the moment she asks him to kiss her. It was so sweetly done in the book, and could follow a scene or two of failed "lessons" and frustration on both their parts and he can't help himself but to go and see her and the result is the kiss. I have to keep reminding myself that the show is known for not following plotlines from the book so exactly, so I am prepared for rewriting of scenes and manipulation of the timeline.

The dress from this is from episode 2. I think this is the first she has her new look but doesn't know to approach men. I think she ran out the ball and Colin went to comfort her. Maybe he offers to give her lessons. And she tells him that she overheard him. Nicola said Penelope will be really mad at Colin and he will try to fix their friendship.

I think this scene is from their engagement party and he discovers that she published the last Whistledown denying that she is Cressida. If you look at stills from the season, Pen has the same hair and dress at to me what seems like their engagement party.

I'd love a scene where Penelope references what she overheard to Colin. Think pride and prejudice 2008 when Elizabeth quotes Mr.Darcys unkind remark back to him.

I do wonder if he’s come to see her after a ball because something went wrong at the ball but Colin is trying to process what he’s feeling when looking at Pen with her hair far more natural than he’s ever seen her. She’s doing something to him that he can’t quite explain but there’s this other situation going on that’s actually brought them together in this moment so his brain is almost malfunctioning 😂

I saw another analysis and it belongs to a dream from Colin because of the fog and lighting and him dreaming of her with a night gown. Starting ep 2 he starts to discover his true feelings for Pen. Then the dream becomes reality...

I think, this is when he finds out she is Lady Whistledown and is behind the piece written about Eloise. There is some speculation that there will be a time jump between the first half and second half of the season. I think this is going to come at the same time as Cressida's blackmailing begins and will be Pen's dark night of the soul before the season picks up again in June. It says that Eloise makes an unusual friend. I think she'll become friends with Cressida and that's how Cressida finds out about Pen being LW. When we pick up after the time jump, the knowledge she is the reason Pen is being blackmailed will reforge their friendship. Colin will realise he forgives her for the Eloise thing and then we'll go into the engagement, party, annoucement, etc.

Honestly, the feeling I get from this moment is that it might be when he finds out she is Whistledown. Obviously that goes very differently in the book, but it might be that they move the carriage scene to another moment in time, and the leaning down is him whispering to her that he knows about everything. I also wonder because of the split season, that they might end Part 1 on the cliffhanger of him finding out and Penelope and the viewers wondering what will Colin do next? It's definitely filled with tension, the question is whether or not this is the lead up to a romantic reveal or the ultimate identity reveal. Or could it all be a red herring meant to throw us off the scent. I wouldn't put it past them to give us a little look into one of the biggest moments and play it off like it's simply PR fodder for the the fans. No matter what, I can't wait to see how each little piece and clue given so far all fits together. Something like 100 days until we get the answers.

To me, his expression looks as though he is noticing something is different with the way he sees her. Dawning on him how beautiful she is but of course will suppress his feelings lol 💚 Also, if this is episode 2 then maybe the Good night Mr Bridgerton scene is at the end of episode 1 so maybe this scene is him coming to apologize. If shes in the Featherington garden alone, maybe he startles her. And maybe shes further distressed when she sees that it is Collin. Yeah i don't know lol! But the look in his eyes says hes seeing Penelope in a new light.

The plot line to the movie the duff? He says she’s unsayable she’s isolated from her friends and he helps her become dateable and then realises he wants to date her, they have a falling out she makes up with her friend and a grand gesture means they come back together stronger than ever?

So, after all this time with all the clips and pictures, I am most definitely certain that is the scene where he has gone to meet her in her house and apologize not just for those words but also about the paper opener fight. Cus, as someone pointed out this really might be the featherington's garden where the ball was held last season. Another reason is that there is this teaser photo where she is sitting on the window in the exact same getup with her hair down. So this is probably after the paper opener scene, where she leaves angrily after listening to him yapping about his privileged life. Now, there are two possibilities : Either that they are about to kiss cus she asked him that favour or she is trying to avoid her and refuses to meet hiim and so he barges right in. probably, the first one.

I feel what people are forgetting right now, is Colin finding out she's Whistledown....i.e., the person who revealed Maureena's lies and thrust his family into scandal. In the book, he's mad about her putting herself into danger of being discovered.

This is going to be there first kiss scene😊 cuz in the books she asks him to kiss her cuz she has never experienced it and was afraid she could die without kissing someone. Colin being Colin feels totally shocked, then she says nvm, but then she is crying out loud to him that she is not going to forget it, she wants to shout out what she wants for once in her life, that it’s just one kiss and it won’t mean anything. That’s when Colin feels all sad, and attracted towards at the same time so he melts down cuz he realizes no one has ever needed him like her before. So he slowly leans in and gives her the first kiss. Granted in the book it was done in Pen’s living room, but I think the show makers changed it to the garden cuz the other 2 Bridgeton couple too shared their first makeout session in garden😂🤷‍♀️
