@mtnentertainment3454
@mtnentertainment3454 Год назад
The EU built better lore than what is in this video too. The Millennium Falcon novel details the entire life of the Falcon from construction to Han owning it in his old age doing stuff with his granddaughter. The Falcon was once the prized ship of a cartel boss who hid treasure using the Falcon as the key to unlock the cache. It changed hands several times and was crashed, salvaged, and rebuilt several times even before it made it's way to Han. Unfortunately Disney absolutely destroyed this canon for still as of yet unknown reasons.

A big part of that is what I believe what Adam Savage said, when he worked on the star wars movies as a prop maker. He stated that when building the prop, even if he didn't know what a specific part on the ship did, he built the parts onto the ships and buildings with the intent that they should and do serve a function. So even if they don't know what it does, it feels purposefully there for a reason. That's why I think the EU had such a breadth of things to apply "this is what this does" lore to the ships. Cause even if the designers didn't initially intend it, they still built it onto the ships intending that it has a use case.
@terrycrichton
@terrycrichton Год назад
Oh, he DID go deep into lore, originally. It's just you've probably never heard much of what he first wrote as the series' lore, because so much of it was bizarre and didn't mesh with the look and feel of what the finished movie (ANH) became.

The initial look for the Millennium Falcon was much different. What was planned actually became the prototype for the Tantive IV. After the crew realized that the design looked too similar to the ship from Space: 1999, they had to go back to the drawing board and come up with something else in a hurry. Joe Johnston worked on the redesign, and that's where the hamburger came in. Johnston told Starlog Magazine, "It was the quickest ship we've ever done. The Falcon was designed in one day. We took some components from the blockade runner, like the cockpit, and stuck it on the side of a big dish with some mandibles out in front."
@TyPhenirW0LF
@TyPhenirW0LF Год назад
This means that the "Freight" aspect of the Freighter is mostly contained with that interlock fork and explains why the Millennium Falcon seems to lack enough cargo space to justify being called a Freighter. The Freight was carried in an add-on. Cool. Very cool.
