Why Does the Su-57 Stealth Fighter "Howl" So Loudly?

TRONSTIKE
Подписаться 25 тыс.

50% 1

The Su-57's distinctive howl is a symphony of factors orchestrated by its engine design and air intake shape. Its powerful AL-41F engines generate intense airflow, which interacts with the sharp edges and internal structures of the S-duct air intakes, creating high-pitched vibrations. These vibrations resonate through the airframe, resulting in that signature howl, earning the Su-57 nicknames like "Screaming Felon." While the sound offers a dramatic warning, it's not all about aesthetics - the engine design prioritizes performance over stealth, sacrificing some radar invisibility for raw power and agility. So, the Su-57's howl reflects both its fearsome capabilities and its unique design trade-offs, a sonic signature that announces its presence in the skies.

Its supersonic means it faster than the speed of sound. By the time you hear it, it probably delivered its payload. All these next gen fighter jets, be it American or Russians, have advanced radar so they can probably detect enemy jets from very far away. Right now, Russian jets are better equipped because they carry hypersonic missiles. So the missiles would reach you before the SU-57 then the scream.

@diogomiguel2409
@diogomiguel2409 7 месяцев назад
While sound waves and radar waves operate in different frequency ranges, theoretically, it's possible to interfere with radar signals using acoustic waves. However, this is distinct from using sound waves in the audible range. Doppler Radars use sound frequency (Doppler Effect) to detect objects and their speed for example. Don't immediately deny something you don't know about. There are people that study for decades and get PhDs in a bunch of stuff and investigate and come up with ideas you had no idea were even possible to begin with. Would you say it's possible to cool something down by applying more heat to it? Well no, that certainly violates some Thermodynamic principals.... Oh but it is in fact possible to do it without violation of any thermodynamics 😂😂😂 By using a thermoelectric cooler or a device called Peltier module. You can create heat transfer by applying more heat using electricity, so you're not cooling something directly but you are using heat to cause heat transfer from something you want to cool down and removing heat is basically cooling down 😎 So you see my friend, somethings may look illogical to the common folk, but human finds a way. Don't immediately deny something just because it doesn't make sense to you 👍

But a 5th gen stealth fighter it is not. It has the RCS of a flying Volkswagon, and it's doomed production plans have had it on the endangered species list since it's inception. It's an impressive 4th gen + at best, but sadly it's doubtful we'll ever really get to see many more of them reach an airworthy state than currently exist, numbers rumored to be less than 10 at this time; with possibly as few as 4 even being considered mission-capable. @90whatever
@90whatever 9 месяцев назад
Not true…it is stealthy…more accurately “low observable”. Not nearly as much as the F-22 and way less than F-35. Stealth doesn’t make the aircraft invisible, just harder to detect at longer ranges. The radar emitter has to get more energy onto the stealthy plane to get enough to bounce back to detect. That gives an edge in BVR fights, and an edge in defeating air-air missiles. The seeker heads on missiles are not nearly as good as those on other aircraft or on the ground….Stealth helps in both staying undetected at longer ranges as well as defeating air/air missiles when defending.
@NearlyLegend
@NearlyLegend 9 месяцев назад
@@90whatever Yes, however it is not coated in stealth coating from what we know (the Russian government is always hiding stuff) So compared to long range RADAR detection, the f22 and f35 are significantly more difficult to detect than the su-57.

They say it can disrupt oncoming radars, that's interesting. What else is interesting is sound receivers can be optimized for any frequency and could possibly light this plane up like a 747 on radars

Even if the sound disrupts the radar, which I doubt, all someone would have to do is open a window and listen. Here the sound "Yep that sounds like a SU-57, guess I call the pentagon"

Just check out the "stealth rivets" all over the skin of the aircraft. The rivets create a distinctive radar signature of a mack truck.

"That's by design. Because no one would expect a Mack truck in the sky, and it will confuse the enemy." - The same guy who said the thing about the scream, probably.

Actually the sound comes from the fact that they couldn't bother to alter the air ducting when they gave up on the engines it was supposed to have and installed ones that are slowly destroyed by the vibrations the noise generates... and radar can't see sound at all - phased array more so.

@ledlight1487 publicly available data on the rcs of the su57 tells you that it isn't stealthy. It's reduced visibility same as the new f18s are. Maybe if you want stealth don't have exposed duct fans or exposed rivets? Among many others

Yeah, that's horseshit. The Su-57 isn't particularly stealthy. The engine noise doesn't disrupt radar. That's made up nonsense.
