It’s very unlikely that you’ve ever seen a Credor before. It’s also very unlikely that you’ve ever even heard of Credor before. Yet this simple, unknown watch from this unknown Japanese brand costs a whopping £50,000. What on Earth are they thinking?

09:01 People are pointing out that the first "R" in the "CREDOR" in the movement that's engraved/embossed(?) at the back doesn't have the extended tail that's on the second R, or even that's on the first R in the dial. I think it's because the dial is handpainted and the artisan can space the letters to fit. The back seems to be done by machine I assume, and in the computer the *kerning*, the space between the letters, is closer together and it omits the extended tail of the R, to maintain that constant distance between the letters. Notice how there's more "air" between the lobe of the R and the spine/stem of the E on the dial, especially compared to the "EDOR" part, to fit the tail. - i find it only enhances the wabi-sabi quality of the watch.

One of the nice things about such a simple watch in “white metal” is just how under the radar it is, but it never loses its thrill when I look at the dial, and I wind it movement side up to appreciate the finish as the power reserve indicator sweeps across. So nice to see it on this channel today - beautifully done as always, thank you.

I was at a GS9 cocktail party, an event hosted by Grand Seiko for GS owners. They brought a handful of Credor watches for showcasing. I asked them how Credor fits in the lineup of Seiko brands, and the way they described it made Grand Seiko feel so inadequate, it’s insane. Basically, Grand Seiko is focused on functionality and mass production while Credor focuses on pure craftsmanship.

@@superfast30 how do you even compare the 2 brands? They target completely different buyers and price points. This one is so plain, most people would probably walk right by it. Basically another Calatrava or Timex look-a-like, depending on who you ask. Nice finishing under a loupe, but then I tend not to carry a loupe.

@@hersheysquirt6526 agreed. Rolex targets buyers who want what watch laypeople admire (as good as they are!), Credor targets buyers who want something special and want it done to perfection by a master craftsman.

@@hersheysquirt6526 its right, credor was made for the riches, who dont need recognition anymore And (today) rolex... are made for social climbers, who need recognition and attention

One of the very few seiko watches with good movement finishing. Also some of the best movement finishing of any watch.

I knew about Credor because I lived (worked, really) in Japan for over a decade but I didn't know Credor an sich and the men who make them until this video. Thank you.

Oh great! Thanks a lot. Here I was happy wearing a grand Seiko, when you go and post something like this. Literally one minute into this video, I was searching the web for a credor. Anyway, as always, lovely video...

CAmpagnola is so hard to find outside japan. even the citizen sales office guys in my country hasnt seen one. moment pieces arrive, are immeidately sold off privately. They didnt even get to see campagnolas physically, let alone the consumer...sigh...

What's said of the enameled dial -- from the oven-firing to the difficulties in fabricating them -- reminds me so much of what Carl Fabergé's workshop artisans encountered; that was in the late 19th/early 20th century -- except Fabergé's artisans solved their firing problems and created much more intricate enameled pieces. It sounds like Credor is on a learning curve re enameling.

What a beautiful sweep! ...and a very tasteful watch... IMHO, well worth its price tag... even though I would need a big lottery win to even think about getting one

I was in the Kobe (Japan) Grand Seiko boutique a few days ago. The glass cabinet down one side is all GS, and the other side was a bunch of watches called "Credor", which I hadn't heard of, and took not a blind bit of notice of. I think I might wander in this afternoon for another look, just in case I win the lottery soon :)
