Speak for yourself! I loved that show, and have fond memories of it. Was it perfect in every way? Of course not! What show is? I loved Game of Thrones, but there were plot lines that I hated. IMO, expecting any show to be perfect in every way is unrealistic.

It started out strong but got really silly towards the end. The “Billith” storyline was cringe-inducing.

I think season 1 and 2 hold up as a nostalgia trip while the rest of it just falls flat

I just (re)watched the show. During the original run, I kinda tuned-out during the late 2nd season. For some reason - it appeared on my Netflix feed, so I gave it another shot. It's not bad, not as great, as I remember. It really went downhill, when they introduced the fairy stuff. And expanding on the whole world, without having the budget to do so. It felt great, due the contained small-town mystery vibe.

Like you said about other shows. I think True Blood suffers from just not having a strong enough of an identity. Like how shows from around that time that are more remembered. Like Dexter, Six Feet Under, Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. These all have a strong identity while True Blood wasn't that special at it's time. Because that was when the Twilight Craze was a thing.

Many ppl remember True Blood. many rewtaching again and again and there is still TB groups on FB. Even a podcast made by 2 of the actors. I still watch it

I was such a big fan of the books when I was 14 to 16 and no one told me there was a TV series it's not all accurate but to be honestly it's a long time since I read the books and I just started watching it and by just I mean I've binge watching and now I'm on season 4

It's one of my most favourite shows and I love every second of it. It's a masterpiece.

I started to read the first novel by Charlaine Harris. Got on a vampire kick a month ago. I recommend Melton's 2 tomes on vampires for vampire fans.

I STILL REMEMBER TRUE BLOOD WISH IT WAS STILL ON HBO

I am binging it right now, but honestly, the only great seasons were 1-4, with the witch season being the best. The last season was a big mess and Sookie just kept getting dumber with her decisions. However, I will always be a True Blood fan!

I've noticed that True Blood had a lot in common with The Boys. You swap out Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, and any other supernatural creatures for Super Heroes. The nature of most of the "heroes" turns out to be just as sociopathic and horny as bloody thirsty Vampires. The allegory in The Boys get the violence, sex, wtf moments, and satire turned up to 11/10. Everything is more mean spirited and cynical in The Boys with little room for romance in that duplicitous corporate showbusiness world created by Vought.

I am a true blood fan. It started great, got better, got worse and then turned horrible, like all shows. But when it was great it was great. I have'nt seen anythng better since, except of cource for 'white lotus' which is in a category of its own.

It had four good seasons and then went south.

It’s forgettable because of being in between game of thrones and the sopranos. Also the storyline much like with so many hbo series got stale and just cringe by the end I expected a final showdown with the Fairy mother but instead we got this weird vampire virus finale with Bill choosing true death for no reason.

4 years after his was posted, I watched for the first time as a 29 year old and loved. But similar critiques, some storylines were really stupid and too much, like the Maenad thing.

A lot of people hated the change of the The Witches the marinade and the fairy story lines were so very different from the book and they were nonsensical and sucked

There is no doubt that True Blood is the best show about vampires. I didn't get through the rest of the vampire shows, turning them off after the first episode. However, this show has its flaws, which are not noticeable to the uncritical eye. Why Bill Compton is (was) a Confederate? It's hard for me to sympathize with a character who was a slave owner, and I don't think I ever sympathized with him. There are a lot of naked men in the show. Apparently, in the "epoch of feminism" they decided that replacing half-naked women with half-naked men was feminist. But no, this isn't about feminism. There are also a lot of bed heterosexual scenes. I understand most people on the planet are heterosexual, but for gays and lesbians, this causes different degrees of disgust and irritation. At the same time, there is only one gay in the show and how is he shown? He is a prostitute, a drug dealer, and has no partner or any hint of a normal relationship. This is a very homophobic presentation, and it causes great annoyance and suspicion that homophobia has not decreased. There is no lesbian representation in the show. However, given that almost all lesbian representations in movies are made up by heterosexuals and queers who have little to do with lesbians, perhaps this is for the best. I'm sure they would be shown as alcoholics or drug addicts or crazy. And in the end they would be killed. Tara was the only black woman to have one of the leading roles, but she was killed off. It's like the "good lesbian = dead lesbian", "good black woman = dead black woman" trope. What is Tara's mother like? The message of the show is very strange: gays, blacks don't deserve anything good.

True Blood is right up there with that godawlful twilight crap. Just a story where the author views herself as the irresistible femme protagonist. It's a journey into the writer's deluded ego and self aggrandizement, and that wears thin very quickly. I'm glad I stopped watching when I found out "werewolves" were just Calvin Klein underwear models that turned into regular wolves. If Harris would have completely (ahem) ripped off White Wolf's "World of Darkness," at least it would have made this turd better
