The reason Genshin doesn't give as much rewards is the person in charge The person in charge of Genshin is not the same person in charge of the two Honkai games. The guy in charge of Genshin, the chairman of Mihoyo, is known for being stingy and when he was in charge of HI3, the rewards there were also stingy until a different guy took over

switching from genshin to star rail is like realizing your ex was toxic EDIT: started playing wuthering waves today and completed the prologue. i got OVER 500 of the funny wishing dust, 40 normal wishes and 20 event wishes. i haven't even unlocked the wishing function. holy shit. EDIT 2: since there are people who are considering playing WuWa, here are some pros and cons from my experience: pros: + immersive story (apparently a lot of people say it's bad but i personally enjoyed it so far) + pretty graphics even on the lowest settings + AMAZING animations during dialogues + *scar*. and his va. + jiyan + SO MANY free wishes + free 5-star of your choice, and then a special banner with another 5-star of your choice, guaranteed in 80 pulls + great fight and exploration mechanics (once you get used to them) + big rewards for fixing bugs and patches + rewarding short quests, keeping it sweet and simple + scar again i just love the guy + (just my personal prediction:) WuWa will have a hopefully healthly rivarly with genshin, which will result in both games' devs actually trying their best to improve their games to keep the players interested cons: - no optimization (NOT ACTUAL, ALREADY FIXED WITH THE NEW UPDATE) - some VAs were probably rushed, so their delivery is awful and they prolly couldn't retake them (not scars VA though he was giving the performance of his lifetime lmao) - difficult to get used to the mechanics at first - buggy (as expected of a freshly released game) - the chixia curse. i have 7 copies of her. help. - not enough scar in the game please i'm desperate

In all seriousness the reason is because genshin isn’t releasing new characters as quickly so there’s not as much rush to pull like there is in star rail. Star rail tends to run new characters really often because it’s a newer game while genshin reruns old characters more often than new ones so it’s able to get away with being stingy with rewards. Also there’s less power creep so there’s less of a need to get new characters unless you really like them. The TLDR is that it’s a game that you requires your patience and time. If you’re willing to sink a lot of time into it you’ll get the stuff you want eventually.

It's been 3 years and we still wonder why

My theory is that its because unlike starrail, genshin is open world and is older. Meaning more quests and more chests and other game mode options. Vs, honkai is at version 2 and only has a few quests each time. So events and things translates to primogems from exploration

Mind that for most of quests and event activities you're getting Primogems, which you can exchange for wishes. You can easily wish about 20 times per week. As for the guaranteed rewards, you'll always get 4* character AT LEAST once per 10 wishes. You'll also get rare 5* character in max 90 wishes.

It’s because in honkai star rail you need good team creation so it’s more expensive to get great teams but in Genshin it depends on skill since you can do good numbers with weird team comps

I feel like you would need to farm more,doing quests and stuff gets you primos so you can get a 5* you want( norm around 60 pulls can get you a 5* )

Let me currect one part. That 10 standard banner pulls are for only new players. So in the end it was that 3 limited pulls and 10 limited from daily log in.

Genshin is basically Hoyoverse’s middle child since it was supposed to be a Honkai game but ended up becoming something completely different

First genshin is open world game witch mean characters benefit more than HSR no offence for the characters in HSR and some of them make exploration easier and you need to farm a lot of things to just make one character max and all the wait for the item to back back again and the artifact Is a suffering and that's why ig I can't believe this comment got 6k like Ty guys!!

I believe a major reason is Genshin game out years before Honkai Starrail. hoyoverse got lots of feed back about Genshin which they put into honkai starrail. They kept Genshin the same however.

You can get 1 2 3 or 4 characters from wishes if ur lucky If you get one the star will glow purple If you get two the star will glow even more purple If you get a five star the star is glowing yellow If you get three or four the star will glow heavily in yellow

The reason is that it still operates in launch mode as if there is still a nessessity to artificially stretch play time. We've been sitting on a 160 resin cap for over three years. That's finally been bumped up to 200 which means we can do about one more activity per day! Yay...🎉🙃

we're genshin players, of course we don't go outside to farm wishes for the character we want months or years before they get their banner so that we know we have enough to get them.

Genshin teaches you that you can't have anything that you want just because you want it. Having easily attainable characters and stuff might make you spoiled.

With Genshin, you either build pity for a 5-star you want (gambling), or you save. I love WuWa, Genshin & HSR

It's very simple, HSR is a game in a crowded market, they need to be generous to pull people in and keep them. Genshin on the other hand is essentially the only open world gacha game so with no competition they don't have to be as generous. I expect that to change as Wuthering Waves and other games of its ilk hit the market.

Another thing about Genshin, and why I stopped playing, is that building a single character takes like a whole month, and you have to plan out every week day for farming

Honkai Star Rail's success came from Genshin Impacts uprising throughout the past few years. All the revenue from all the past banners went into Honkai Star Rail both in visuals, in game wishing currency and rewards. That is why. If you don't do exploration for the majority of Genshin Impact, you barely get anything. Do I have my exploration at 100%? No

There are a few reasons. First genshin is an open world exploration game and it rewards you for doing so. Most of the currency is in the overworld. Second genshin doesn't have any real competition so no need to lure in people with a free limited 5* character. And third in my experience Genshins late game doesn't rely as much on you having specific characters so not getting them doesn't hurt you as much as star rail. Like I could roll into the abyss with only 1.x characters and be fine. So go off on a little adventure, explore way beyond where the plot takes you, discover a 10 hour vegetable people quest and go insane if you're a completionist, because you tried to find all 75 little veggie lads

Theres also like 4+ years worth of content in genshin thats farmable for wishes. Its not instant gratification, but you can get a lot of stuff completely f2p just by playing the game

I’d honestly say that the amount of rewards you get in Genshin incentivizes you to actually complete the open-world challenges and find all the chests, which requires that you explore every inch of Teyvat and not just the areas the story quests take place. Star Rail’s smaller, more split-up maps make exploration easier and less time-consuming, making the acquisition of rewards much easier and quicker. Since Genshin has so much more land to explore, the amount of small rewards scattered around is larger. It, at the very least, gives you something to do while waiting for the next update aside from Spiral Abyss and item farming.

ok here is the actual answer, most of the time genshin patchtes give you as much stuff as honkai star rail patches, the diffrence is in how you obtain it all, genshin often add new region with their patches that have an abundance of chests to collect, if you add all that to the events and other compensation in the patch you end up with a pretty similar amount to hsr, it's definetly more work then the few chests hsr add when they make a new area

I started playing genshin first, and when i started to play honkai star rail, i was so shocked by the rewards 😭😭😭. Us poor genshin people when we start to play hsr!

the only way to get good characters in genshin: money

The main reason is exploration. Genshin has, if you started the game right this second, about 300-400 wishes purely in exploration, including quests. I’m not joking. Hsr has next to no exploration besides chests (i am an avid collector of them, believe me, ive tried.) which means the source of pulls HAS to come from somewhere else. So they opt for content like PF and GnG. But most players won’t be full clearing those, so they need another source so those people dont get left out, and therefore a lot more freebie jades. It’s also why their events have more jades. If you average out how many you get in hsr to genshin, i guarantee you, it’ll be equivalent. Honestly. The only reason you THINK you get more is because you’re literally handed them. Yeah, genshin could stand to be much more generous, but they’re pretty far from stingy. (Also, the 3 wishes thing was stupid yall. They gave you a free 10 for the rite. The 3 was for the anniversary, and then you got MORE anniversary rewards. You just saw ‘3 wishes’ and went apeshit without actually reading, the apparent weakness of many a genshin player.) also, hsr is a NEW GAME. Hoyo is trying to keep as many people playing as possible, something a lot of turn based games struggle to do. Simply because after a while, it does end up getting boring. I enjoy hsr, i do, but good lord when it gets dry it gets DRY. I still can’t bring myself to finish the clockie movie event because it is so damn boring. Also, the powercreep issue, but people already talk about it so no point going in-depth. I honestly fear for hsr’s future because theres a limit to how much you can powercreep. Again, yes, genshin IS stingy (specifically the dude in charge) but you can make up for it. If hsr decided to be stingy, you’d have 0 workaround. And, why compare games? You know thats what hoyo WANTS you doing right? If you spend time comparing hoyo’s own games, you pay less attention to other games.

The main reason people never consider is because in honkai you actually NEED good teamcomp. If your team underperforms doesnt matter what you do, you just wont win a fight. In genshin even if you are hard underleveled on paper you still can beat even the strongest bosses if you play well EDIT: Another thing i forgot to include is that in honkai, you dont get much jades from exploring. 30 chests per couple small areas and thats it. In honkai you have so many ways to get primos in open world. Hundreds of chests, oculi statues etc. You can get much more than 10 pulls per patch

The huge open world plays into this differently. The exploration and boss fights are the endgame rather than a whole gauntlet of escalating difficulty challenges. The turn based aspect makes your characters worth different values than an open world game.

Hoyoverse was very conservative in the economy of the game after the launch events ended because it had costed them so much that if it flopped financially, the studio would have had a hard time to CC recover. Since then, they’ve taken a hands-off approach and did not touch any details on that aspect since it is working very well that way.

The thing is, Genshin Impact is significantly easier to complete all the content in while Honkai Star Rail has a much larger difficulty ceiling. Not to mention Genshin came out in 2020 while HSR came out in 2023, so the demand for free rewards is likely higher with Hoyo's reputation and so they don't wanna disappoint. They're also ran by different ppl of the same company so there's that issue

If everyone has every character then there is no fun playing it. I appreciate Genshin's wish system

Basically unlike other games you need to spend a lot of time on the game and do a lot of things to get characters not getting all the characters just after opening the game

It comes down to why each game does this, Star Rail by proxy if not being an exploration game needs to splurge players with more rewards off event tabs while Genshin generally gives you enough gems for 1 Pitty per new Area off random chests in the overworld. You can sum this up to, Genshin makes you work for that pitty while Star rail tells you “go get em kido”

One idea is that it’s cause in Genshin you basically can do stuff without pulling as much as in Star Rail, cause in Star Rail, you have to watch for weaknesses so the fight is easier, in Genshin you can sometimes brute force a fight against a resistant enemy, even then you’re not entirely countered 😅 If an enemy is not weak to Ice for example, bringing an Ice unit will not break the weakness, but unless the enemy is immune, bringing a Cryo unit against a Cryo resistant enemy only means that the fight is harder

Genshin players are willing to spend more for less So why give them more if they're willing to spend? Basically, milking the cow

Simple answer, Genshin was the prototype. Mihoyo learned everything that the community hated in Genshin, and fixed it in Star Rail.

You have to work super hard and grind for days :) it gives you a sense of accomplishment

Genshin has a giant open world so there’s like a hundred thousands of chests and puzzles, that’s where you get the goodies. On the other hand, for star rail you don’t get as much open world for exploring and getting rewards so they give us the goodies
