It’s amazing watching this two years later and hearing about CVD. It made me angry all over again that Newsom shut everything down while he was out dining massless. Nevermind the fact California did no better than the states that remained opened. Two years of all our lives wasted for his ego.

My transitioning from GM2 to Civilian job was walking across the street to So Cal Edison at the Long Beach Generation Station.. sadly that was short lived as Edison's push for deregulation completely screwed things up.. Edison sold all of their steam generation plant..Been working for DWR for 25yrs since the sell off.. I sure loved operating Long Beach Gen Sta, circa 1928 equipment repowered with Combustion Turbines.. In 1994 after the Northridge Earth Quake, our crew/shift saved the day/grid & San Onofre by being the first plant online to send a 230kv line to Lighthipe and then down to San Onofre.. I think I worked 18hrs that day.. I'll never forget that quake, it shook LBGS for 20mins due to the plant is standing on 40ft creosote poles driven into the mud to bedrock side-by-side.. felt like sea state 5 ocean conditions.. lol

See you got the covid-19 hair-style😉 Noticed you have more than a few handhelds. Do you keep them all charged and ready to go in case of emergency? I like you work bench area! Really can’t wait too retire from the military one day and have a garage with work bench. Have to have a temp area each time a new project comes up like the hood louver hopefully I can do soon(messed up a hood hinge bolt and don’t own a welder so waiting for my Jeep to go to the shop). I don’t think I’ve watched that review of the AEV camper setup. Looks legit but it reminds me of all the times I’ve gone out to do field training in a Army HMMWV. Plus gotta have the back seat for the kids. If anything a build like that but towed😉 For the nuts and bolts that you carry extra when you hit the trail, which components of nuts and bolts do you carry? Been thinking about getting an organizer for my garage but would be smart to have a smaller one for the trail. I’d say I’m curious of the time you’re talking about camping out on the beach and knowing when is “high-tide”? Since being stationed out here in Hawaii for over four years for myself and seven years for my wife I want to say we’re beached out, but I can say we’ll come back to the beach probably in the future over in California or some others on our travels when we’re back in the mainland. Dam those cabinets look nice! Another retirement thing to put on my wish list😉. Lol, babysitting someone on the trail! Sorry that made me laugh. But I’d be curious what trails would you recommend that would give you a good experience prior to trying to tag along with you and Marco? Ya I’m looking forward to starting to getting my badges for trails, but at the same time it’s not that I want to get the badges but also make it an experience hopefully with my family(wife may have to step out for the obstacles if she thinks their questionable). Enjoyed the garage coffee! Awesome video!

Good morning brad! I hope all is well with you and the fam. I’ve enjoyed your new approach of making the best of it in these quarantine times with the garage coffee and answering viewers questions. I like that you address that routine maintenance is major priority before and after your o ff-road trip or road trip in general, including fluid levels and torque specs. I’m not sure if this is already available or not, but I thought a quick reference guide/s (laminated flash cards) of torque specs and bolt for jeeps and other vehicles to keep in the glove compartment for shake down bolt checks. Of course this opens a can of worms for many many numbers for component of many vehicles, especially when aftermarket components have been installed, but I though it would be cool to have. It could also be good information content for the E3 network. Here is something if found on northridge 4x4. www.northridge4x4.com/pages/quick-reference-chart If you use this on your garage coffee questions: From: John H. Beaumont, Texas Hey Brad, before and after your road trips, what do you use to reference for your steering and suspension components torques specs?

First, let me say I love every one of your "regular" videos, whether they are a gear review, trail adventure, etc. HOWEVER, I think the silver lining in this Covid19 period is the opportunity for these "Garage Coffee" episodes. Episodes like these are something that everyone in a full-time channel like yours always wants to do, but never has the time due to all the other things going on in the channel. I am LOVING all the random topics, insights, fan thoughts, etc in these episodes! Thank you! Side note: after spending many years on backpacking trails deep in some mountains, and my wife and kids worrying about me, I pretty much went through the same "communications" journey. Sat phones seemed great, but often when deep in a valley you are out of the line of sight to the relatively sparse sat network. That doesn't seem to be the issue with the bi-directional text products like the Garmin InReach. I've enjoyed how simple it is to use (paired with my phone), and how well the coverage is. On to Garage Coffee ep 4 !

I considered going the dual battery mostly for my cooler. However after doing some research I decided to first try an Odyssey Extreme when the OEM battery in my 2017 JK died. I installed an Odyssey Extreme group 34R and it will run my cooler for well over 12 hours in the most extreme heat and there is still sufficient voltage to start the engine. Yes the Odyssey Extreme is expensive but cheaper than 2 qualities batteries and the dual battery conversion kit. Many years ago I had a dual battery setup on my 1980 CJ 5. This was mostly for my winch but batteries have improved a lot since the 1980’s. Yes I carry a small jump start battery just in case.

Hi Brad, I'm Shlomo Merbaum from Israel and I love your channel and especially the way you do things and your wonderful term "RockLanding" which fits perfectly my way of traveling. Anyway there are 2 issues I wold like to know your opinion/ comment: A. Did you consider sleeping in your Jeep arrangment (with sleeping platform) for your JKU, especially when traveling alone? Sleeping in the Jeep has so many advantages Vs rooftop tent- It's much more lighter, it doesn't affect the center of gravity, It's cheaper and a very nice and easy DIY project, It has better insulation especially in windy conditions, It's easy and quick to set up for a night sleep as much as a rooftop tent and even better in that then the soft rooftop tents. The down side of sleeping in a Jeep- it is tighter and more camped and suites only 2 persons the most. It is suitable onle for 4dr. vehicles. Some sleeping in Jeep solutions needs cancellation of the second raw seats if one wants to be able to seat upright and cofortably on the sleeping platform. B. Why overlanding became so popular in U.S.A. only in the last few years when you have such a vast and beautiful country to explore?

Upfront and most importantly, love the channel. Just one comment on this one: "When everything opens back up in a couple of weeks..." Boy, that Cali crow got eaten, huh? 😆 Keep the wonderful vids coming! Really enjoy the way the TR vids are done.

I love your RU-vid channel, and wonder if you can give me some advice. I have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4 door.and recently installed 33" tires. I also installed an HD tire carrier and.mount and the tailgate check strap has come.out. What suggestions do you have for a replacement to keep the tailgate from swinging too wide and support the.larger tires? Thanks.

Before RU-vid I assume Rock-Landing for you as many of us was (and still is) a great getaway or hobby for you right? My question is, do you ever regret doing youtube full time for what used to be a love/hobby? and Do you ever miss exploring without having to record for RU-vid? Do you see yourself stopping youtube anytime soon? Sorry lots of question 😂😅

I often hear 33's are about the limit of stock Dana 44 axles, what do you think of going past that size without beefing up the stock running gear, brakes, etc.. - Rick McNamara WS7PB

QUESTION: I think Marco is amazing but has the toughest job... as a fellow squid, I know that if the food isn't good... you will hear about it. My question is how are the logistics worked out? Does everyone pitch in ahead of time and take over other tasks so he can cook? How does it work?

Gus from Honduras here. If we need to upgrade most systems on a Jeep for overlanding (suspension, drivetrain, tires etc) why go for the Rubicon and not the Sport-S.? I am crunching the numbers, and so far buying a Sport S and modifying it to Rubicon specs, or better, seems like a good way to go, but maybe I am missing something.

As a silent service vet, don’t get out with a lot of debt. No car payments, credit card, etc. Build up at least $20k savings to give you spending money while you decide what you want to do or where you want to live. This way you won’t be under stress and make bad decisions just to stay afloat!

Brad, is there any way (after current events are pasted us) that Marco and yourself, do a complete walk around of his current kitchen setup? With possible links to products or cooking items he uses? Hope everything is going well on your side of the US.

I just watched this for the 5th or 6th time... At 11:55 you say you're going to wait a couple of weeks until things open up, people get back to work, etc., that shows how optimistic you are! Did you ever get the step for your wife's Jeep?

I just got a Gladiator Sport max tow! I am wanting to install lockers I am wondering what you think between the electronic and air lockers? I am leaning to on board air compressor for lockers and air ups plus I am adopting 2 young children and see lots of bike tires lol I have had electronic lockers stick on my friends rubicon JL and I am not sure how common that is? Hopefully you can shed some light on this for me?

Hey Brad, you should check out Bixby Coffee. Heard about it on a podcast and it’s excellent. It’s a California roaster that ships you the coffee the same day it was roasted and the best part is you can even get it packaged in steeping bags (just add hot water and go!)

Hey Brad as a veteran offroader in the jk can i ask you if in your offroading adventures you get coolant running a bit high at times when you push it for instance around the 230f mark? I get this at times when i push my jk in the desert it climbs halfway midpoint between middle and 3/4 and drops to middle in less than a minute and the coolant temp sets at 230 ish even if i push hard...normal driving even offroad i m solid at 200f and middle of the gauge ...do you get this too?

I'm also looking towards bringing a portable battery. But since you don't have a dedicated dual battery, do then all your lights including camping lights run off the starter battery? Won't it drain if you have the lights on at night? Which lights/accessories are wired to the starter battery and which accessories run off the Goal Zero?

hey Brad, great video.... question. I have a 2dr jk. put a 3" lift on it.. shocks and springs. no arms. stock arms.. it drives like its on its tippy toes so to speak..... should I have went with adjustable arms? short or long

One of the big reasons for a dual battery in the JL/JT is that the factory battery system is a defective poorly engineered 1.5 battery setup which leads to failures, the dual battery setup can mitigate this

Hello Brad I have used 2 of those diesel heaters that you showed at the beginning of your video. Both have leaked diesel after using for a few short hours. There is a hole in the casting next to where the fuel pipe is attached. What the hole is for, I have no idea. I plugged the hole in the first one, which stopped the leaking, but after a few short hours of operation the glow plug stopped working. I got a replacement and it started leaking too. Also it keeps shutting down and I have to restart it. I have a plastic container under the heater to catch the leaking fuel. I have a third heater and will install it later today. I’ll let you know how it works out after using it for a few days. It does put out great heat and uses very little fuel, even though it never shuts off. There’s no thermostat control which is not appealing. You can adjust the output of the heater using the panel or wireless remote. The fuel pump is very noisy. It’s a piston pump. If you or anyone else wants more information or photos of my unit or camper trailer you can email me at cdnbvr@gmail.com. I will answer everybody. Keep up your great work sir. I also like seeing the rigs that your viewers submitted. I hope that you’ll keep doing those videos.

I was looking at iceco refrigerators. I have a teardrop camper but the dimensions of the galley kitchen for a refrigerator are not very good so the refrigerator options are limited in my model there is a K2 cooler in the back but I have to deal with ice. I was going to put a 12 volt refrigerator in the back of my Jeep and run it off my car battery for the night in the morning I would plug it into sure power. Do you think a standard battery for a Cherokee would run the 12 volt refrigerator overnight at most 12 hours?

Hey Brad, So just one big question. When do you plan on coming to the dmv area to do some camping. Not so much over landing around here but a ton of great camping spots as well as the National forests drives around here? Would love to do a meet up in this area.

Brad - You've mentioned several times about your interest in getting an older or vintage jeep to restore. Could you share your thoughts on how you would go about evaluating one to get. I don't think most neighborhood garages are going to be able help assess jeep upgrades or mod construction. So where would you go - to a local jeep club?
