Yeah I won't lie I have to watch videos on getting a good looking character lol. 😂 oh boy when I thought my characters looked half decent the shocking lighting proved me wrong moments after creation.
Thank you for mentioning the curvy body type representation problem. So many girls out here have large bust and glutes sizes, naturally. It’s not something that should need to be treated as “over sexualized” when it’s completely normal and healthy. My girlfriend is usually unable to recreate her bust size in these games and I find that so stupid in an RPG, of all games.
I wonder if the non-curvyness has to do with armor. I can only imagine it’s a lot to make sure that the armor looks right on the various races at various heights, so putting yet another factor might not have been achievable. Still wish it was there though!
This is possible, however! I use the bodyslider skyrim mod and in that you morph the clothes with bodyslide sliders to fit the body you have created and unless it goes to the Extreme (think straight up not realistic) the clothes still conform and look fine (maybe some clipping here and there on the bigger portions). So if BioWare is using a similar method of slider conformity on their armors I do not think pushing the sliders even further would be much of an issue unless they've set hard limits on items for the sake of collision/clipping. We shall see what the modders do!! (unless they push up the slider threshold pre-release!)
@@pelican4198 Many modern engines have inbuilt tools that deal with clipping, and it isn't hard to code. I also don't think it is how armor looks, because you can make the character fat and it would make certain body parts bigger, but you can't make them curvy, it just doesn't make sense from a technical standpoint imho.
its clear that the character creator could not reproduce even my own bust size. i fail to understand the problem with people sexualizing characters in a game. in real life i have always been super uncomfortable by male attention, but in a game the video game does not care so i think it is the perfect place for guys to sexualize whatever they want.
Might be because of limitations making the armor and animations work without clipping. I'm disappointed too, but most games have imperfect character creators. This one is alright. I can work with it.
But what they do in a game they will do outside as well. And i was so often sexulized that i think that serves them right. Maybe they learn normale smaller sizes aren't ugly.
The problem are the guys that complain and only want an sexual looking female. So i am happy we don't get that. I can't create myself, but that is okay. I hope for you all that they find a solution for that and can give you the curvy body type you want.
thanks for the deep dive into the CC! I also wish it came out early so I could spend my hour+ setting up my character before the game is out haha While I'm disappointed in the sliders (as someone with naturally large bust, I like to try to make myself in games, it's not sexual) I am so thrilled by the hair options! No more standard BioWare helmet hair! It's glorious.
Oh definitely hard agree with you on a lot of the points Jade. I too am looking forward to the character creator and I also wished that we could put a bit more curves in the characters. Like I love what we’ve gotten so far, I just want more I guess 😂😂
Thanks for this!! I love to make curvy girly-girls in my games so they serve looks and girl boss at the same time lol. I'm not loving all the "woke" takes some people have, but I definitely think enjoying feminine aesthetics and curves is not inherently bad?? Love Bioware but if they're so focused on allowing us to express our gender identity in the way that is most comfortable to us, making the character creator choices all look somewhat androgynous is a bit of a weird choice. Anyway, subbed to your channel so I hope you post more DA content as the game releases. :)
@@JeannieLove There have been some people who disagree with a lot of things in DATV as well as other games--such as allowing players to be nonbinary, as well as criticism towards the "ugly women," such as Aloy from Horizon Zero or most women from TLoU. They look like totally normal women without full faces of make-up. So, indeed, some companies have been trying to create female game characters that are less sexualized, and so they end up having more natural proportions, less make-up, less sexy armor, etc. These opinions, that companies are trying to like "appeal to the liberals" with normal women and pronouns, etc., are being referred to as "woke."
@@shiori52525 I don't get why something normal is called woke now a days. And to your question: Enjoying female aesthetics isn't bad at all, but the behavior some male human beeings have when they see one is sometimes questional. And i speaking of experience here. They sexulize me and call my friend ugly. And that is the reason i am very happy i can't create myself in the game, because some men needs to learn what is normale in different countries.
I agree I hope the fix the bust and butt slider so they have a way bigger impact the don't really do much at all in my opinion. They look the same both at 100% and at 0%
Nice to see a fair take on the creator, noted the lack of options for more curvy females (was annoying my partner who is shorter but still curvy), without going on a "woke" rant.
Also maybe they said this earlier but we can choose between 4 voices for our Rook Also the rage-baiters would def cancel Origins if it came out now, because of bi characters and the lead writer being gay. But still they insist they love Origins. They have no self-awareness 😂
From what I heard from another RU-vidr was that we might not get a stand a lone character creator because it’s to late and they haven’t said anything about it only that it would get announced when it gets closer to lunch
They're using some implementation of blend shapes for this so it should be able to handle values above 100%. We might see a mod that remaps the bounds of the sliders or a save editor to edit the values manually.
Appreciate you showing a dark skin character and black hairstyles! I think I know which one I’m going to use for my self insert Rook. The options so far are really exciting although body diversity is lacking.
I am definitely pumped up with what we got already but there are two lacking options that I wish we had : body hair and earrings and piercings options. Nothing modders can't fix...
I'm not sure it is actually about sexualising female characters. It could actually be a technical issue with the mesh for all those custom body types changing the form of all those different outfits. It might be that they simply couldn't persuade it to work reliably in the time they had, so they limited things. I can't be the only person who remembers Vivienne's butt clipping through her clothing in Inquisition...
Take into consideration how the body you wish to make would fair in a real fight. As far as I'm concerned it's already too diverse in terms of shapes if we are building warriors. They can be a bit chubby, you can build serious might under a thin layer of fat, but they should not be fat unless it's a Sumo game. Just a thought.
Yeah, I was hoping to be able to have a curvier body, but also muscule. The Saints Row series to this day has the best character creators for that. Nioh 2 and Dragon's Dogma 2 come close.
I guess I’ll be making my Elven Rook look like Denji from Chainsaw Man, my Dwarven Rook look like Sophitia from Soul Calibur, my Human Rook look like Touka from Tokyo Ghoul and my Qunari Rook look like Raziel from Soul Reaver.
I liked your editing and the video in general so I subscribed to your channel to see your deep dive into the character creator once the game launches...I'm also a huge fan of CCs [I think the best one so far is from Dragon's Dogma 2 and I already put your video DD2 video on my watch-later list] "There are folks who still have boobs and butt to match in real life" EXACTLY! both sides of the culture war can be very toxic right?! but it baffles me to see a lot of people body-shaming big-booty women saying that their bodies are "unrealistic" and only exist in anime and p***...and these arguments usually come from people that champion inclusivity, it doesn't make any sense! If the developers purposefully removed the option of creating a certain body type, wouldn't that be considered body-shaming? Am I going crazy here?
The main issue I have is the head sizes. I realize this game is taking a stylized approach but they look so big and make other races, especially elves, look like dwarves. It doesn’t help that the proportions don’t get evened out at taller heights either because everything except the neck is elongated
Thanks for the video 🥰 I heard rumors that Bioware can´t release the CC early, because then Spoilers could be mined out of it (Inquisitor - Solas stuff I guess). I wish we could get it early but hey, it´s only 18 days left my dudes 🐸
My Thoughts on the game so far: I have alot of concerns myself too. But the biggest reason im holding out and wanting to play the game is because of the continued story from inquisition with solas. I want to see that story hopefully come to a satisfying close. I really hope it does because i dont feel like waiting another 8 to almost 10 years for another game. I still have the next mass effect to look forward to hopefully releasing if its not canceled by EA anyway..🙄 Nevertheless, The fact that Harding, my favorite ginger dwarf Is finally romancable, makes it the canon romance for me. I am upset at the slidders though. The butt and chest sliders suck.. i know women who want the options to make their characters have big butts or chests and cant cause of how limiting the options are.. they talk about inclusion and yet refuse to include options for plus sized women with big butts or chests. Its quite hypocritical and sad..🙄
Creating 'art' to avoid accusations stifels creativity. And we mean this on every level, it's not a discussion about just body types. That's where the controversy really is.
the many options for Black people is amazing so many games just let you change the skin color but don't have actual black face features or hair the diversity in this game is incredible
Really? Have you ever seem ANY other character creator? There's literally TONS of it from small Korean studios with a 100th of this budget for MOBILE games that have a 100 times more options... Also, you can create characters that are not vomiting inducing like these...
Ahh, Finaly, some one say it on YT...that's my Problem with the Charakter creator....i have a female / Curvy bodytyp....and feels a bit not inklusive...after a we are so inklusive Marketing...a bit sad
You asked why did you(Curvy Females) have to miss out on representation in this Inclusive character creator? It's because those at Bioware and most of the Western Gaming industry see feminine features are inherently sexist against women and so remove them in favor of a more androgynous design that they feel is safer for trans-people who don't have those natural feminine features.
I think it is more to let men see that there are more woman typs then the curvy oversexulize onces that they have seen in media. So the problem isn't androgynous or trans-people. The problem are straight men that sexulized curve females. And i speak of experience. I don't like to be sexulized and i am okay to not creat myself in a game.
I feel like since they began making inclusive character design stuff, they removed the lighter skin tones. I haven't been able to make a character as pale as me in a new game for like what, 7 years?
Sorry dear, im dont buy this game, im fight a in two months, for this in respect to DEI the inclusion and freedom of the player to create their real female character, not the doll that was presented in the character creation. What you did excluded the majority of previous Dragon Age players who had the freedom to choose female character.
I'm sorry but step up the models look like garbage 😂 but I'll agree to disagree I'd rather play with Dragon Age Origins character creator on Xbox 360 then whatever they made here
So only representing white people other ethnic groups be damned. I'm not complaining about the surgery scar I'm complaining about the lack of thickness and representation within different ethnic group's body types.
