I’m a huge usc fan and watched every game he played all 3 years and yeah his speed isn’t ideal but he gets open enough and when he’s not open he just grabs the ball out of the air anyway and once the ball is in his hands it takes the entire secondary to tackle him. I was already saying his freshman year with all the hype around Pittman, st brown, Tyler vaugns, and bru McCoy that drake London would be the best out of all of them. I’m gonna miss watching him break 6 tackles and take it for a td after a reception that looked like it was going nowhere but I’m just super happy he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves and that he’s going to be making bank.

So basically, he's not a "do it all" kind of guy and the team that drafts him has to understand that if he is going to succeed. His lack of star speed isn't going to kill him right out of the gate because he's so technically refined in other areas; it's all about where he goes.

I think the best thing for him would actually be a draft day slide. If he goes somewhere in the mid 2nd - early 3rd range, to a team with a strong QB and playcaller, the team that takes him would have the talent to allow him to play that big slot style and he wouldn't have the first round billing that would cause people to be disappointed if that's all he is. If he goes in the first to a team without a lot of receiver talent, somewhere like 17th to the Eagles, for example, they're liable to try and force him into the prototypical X receiver role on the perimeter, a role that, like you pointed out, would be a bad fit for him due to his lack of speed and weakness to press coverages. I think that's where the Pats went wrong with Harry, they tried to make him their X and when he was ineffective they benched him for the rest of his time in NE. They never let him play in a spot that maximizes his skillset.
@samg1803
@samg1803 2 года назад
His game reminds me of a bigger Laviska Shenault with actual ball skills. I think he will produce well even with stop gap QBs like Minshew who lack arm talent but are still able to master the back shoulder throw.

Go back to the tape with Laviska. Laviska is way more of a YAC threat than London.
@samg1803
@samg1803 2 года назад
@@Harry-vb1vrAn underrated part of London's game is his YAC ability and his high rate of missed tackles forced, which less people think about and label him as a prototypical slow jump ball guy. I 100% agree. I've been on the Christian Watson bandwagon for months now, and I can't for the life of me figure out why people have London significantly ahead of Watson. I think both have a chance to be great, but Watson is the one that looks like a 1st rounder to me, not London.
@beanie3427
@beanie3427 2 года назад
Also, I think I've cooled significantly on Treylon Burks after his combine performance for similar reasons as you laid out for London. Burks was never asked to run a full route tree, he is a lot slower than a lot of people thought, and because of that I think he'll struggle to get separation on the outside. I still think I'm slightly higher on Burks than London, because I think Burks is so good after the catch. But both have fallen behind my top guys like Olave, Wilson, Watson, and Williams.
