@neofulcrum5013 The, theoretical, point of the CIS was that they were fighting to create a decentralized system, which is why they are a confederacy. Not sure if this works for Palpatine or not.
@elisekehle8520
@elisekehle8520 Год назад
@@KingFlameHawk It would have if he'd wanted it to- the Separatist Council and corporate states worked very well to create a totalitarian hyper-capitalist, slave-trading society that by any measure was even worse than the Republic. By the point the clone army was ordered, the Sith had decided on usurping the Republic by appearing to save it, rather than crushing it with the emerging Separatist movement which they also controlled, so a lot of battles were thrown by the Confederate leadership, knowingly or unknowingly. I'd be interested in seeing some videos about cases where the CIS came closest to winning despite Palpatine's maneuvers, and how he could have adjusted accordingly. By the second year of the war it's pretty unlikely with the secret reserve force being underway in legends/predisney, but there were definitely cases where a confederate victory was likely and required direct sith intervention. Most notably, Geonosis, as Geetsly has discussed, and also sending Merai to his death at first Kamino in the pre-disney canon. The confederacy definitely had the resources to brute force a victory in the first months of the war, and required careful managing to not achieve it. Hell, the confederate forces on Geonosis could have seized an unguarded Coruscant on day 1 if the sith hadn't manipulated the Republic into accepting a slave clone army out of desperation AND laid a trail to Geonosis.

The CIS theoretically planed to win, that was their goal, to win the war. But you are right, Palpatine and Dooku manipulated them. Dooku as head of state for the CIS carefully orchestrated the war so the CIS would slowly be defeated and Palpatine win the Republic public + many Jedi got killed in the war. If Dooku and Palpaine hadn't sabotage the CIS they would have surely won the Clone Wars, no matter if a clone is worth 10 battle droids and a Jedi 100 droids.

The droidekas were, in my opinion, almost horror-like. The rolling sound echoing through the narrow streets would probably put any person on edge, even clones who have dealt with them before. It's deployment time from when it appeared to when it had it's shield up and opened fire definitely caught some of the clones by surprise. And it's redeployment, how quickly it disengaged and rolled down the stairs only to deploy again gave the clones almost no time to rest The droidekas came off as surprisingly agile and aggressive.

@karlthorsten9118
@karlthorsten9118 Год назад
Yeah. When a tactical droid commands a smaller group, they do it a lot better, though many were reckless and were willing to sacrifice droids, civilians or positions to win - which the Republic could sometimes use against them. This is a much smaller group, but large enough to function as a proper small army, and I also think they weren't factory reset, not fully, but retained enough information from their battles or that of other droids, letting them use that experience in order to do their jobs better. So a more moderately sized amount to control, experience, some much-needed upgrades, and a good focus on the area and surroundings. Tactical droids are only good for MASSIVE amounts of droids when just relaying more simple information. Direct command is much more difficult, same for real life war or combat. A few top commanders for a large front, local commanders that are at the front itself, spread out evenly among the troops. Had the droids been a lot more numerous, then they'd have probably required another tactical droid to help, or more OOM-series Command Droids, as they were also programmed for commanding troops in the middle of a fight, as is seen early in the episode when this specific droid uses the binoculars very effectively.

Most of their leaders were pretty evil, but that wasn't the people's fault, and the CIS had some very legitimate complaints about how the Republic functioned. If they had different leadership and weren't secretly formed as just another part of Palpatine's evil master plan, they could have actually had the moral high ground. The clone wars didn't like to make the separatists tough, because much of the time they were portrayed as evil. They rarely showed separatist victories, especially against the main characters, because "good wins, evil loses". However, morality has changed in the bad batch. Even though it's Clones vs separatists, the governor is portrayed as someone more moral while crosshair is more evil, so they balance their strengths more. Personally, I don't think the droids were necessarily weaker in the clone wars. another factor is the clones no longer have jedi commanders to help with extra intel or deal with the more advanced droids like droidikas or commandos also mentioned in the episode was droids would have been reprogrammed after the shut off order, so they'd be factory reset on memory, thus having empty RAM, as was said

All throughout the episode I kept finding myself rooting for the Droids which felt odd. While in the Clone Wars they had some of the funniest moments I always found myself rooting for the Clones but this time I found myself rooting for the droids and seeing what they actually could do when working effectively only had me rooting for them more. Of course like the video mentioned they lost (because of plot armor) and it was sad but at least they went down while being awesome. Hopefully we’ll get a few more episodes of B1’s actually being awesome in the future.

I really want to see an alternative universe version of the clone wars where the whole thing isn't being orchestrated by Palpatine. For example with Dooku falling to the dark side, but not becoming a sith, and founding the CIS on his own accord. He doesn't know of the clone army being trained, Sifo-Dyas isn't assassinated, etc.
@tristankawatsuma8962
@tristankawatsuma8962 Год назад
Yeah, you have to remember a lot about the Clone Wars was specifically engineered by the Sith. Without them, it’s more likely multiple separatist movements would pop up instead of a unified one. Also without the threat of the Sith, Sifo-Dyas would never have made the order for the clones. Without the Sith, it would be more like a series of proxy wars where separatist groups fight security forces belonging to Republic worlds, with the Jedi and Judicial Forces only bring calked for extreme cases. The Republic would also take years to build up a military and that itself may not happen. The Senate was divided until the droid army was revealed along with the clone army. Otherwise the Military Creation Act could have gone either way.

It might also be of note that there aren't all that many droids on Desix. At most, there was a single battalion of B1s, a couple Droidekas and a handful of BXs. That alone would take a lot of pressure (or processing power) off the Tactical Droid compared to the large-scale conflicts in the Clone Wars. Instead of trying to organize several armies' worth of B1s, B2s, BXs and others; the Tactical Droid would be able to tightly coordinate a small group to fight tactically and effectively as well as cover any weaknesses that their diminished ranks would cause.
@HerrZhukov

Bro the use of the Droidekas in episode 3 was fantastic, both tactically and cinematically. They would thrive in an urban setting and close quarters, and the fact that we couldn’t see them but could hear them made it feel like a horror movie. Magnifique!

Love the droid content. Always have been a huge fan of the CIS and the droid army as a whole. What I wouldn't give for a whole series dedicated to the best of the droid army, showing them as the terrifying and elite force they should have been. Yeah, I called them elite. Because that's EXACTLY what we got from this particular remnant of the CIS military in S2E3.

I really enjoyed watching the Droids in action without their tactics being rigged in favour of the Republic. They showed that if they had a fair fight, the Clone Wars would have shaped out completely different to what we saw and it was oddly exciting routing for them when they surrounded the TK Troopers and arrested them and faced off against Commander Cody’s squad.

I belive "the senate" had limiters installed in the seperatist droids, so even if they had been through regular maintenance, they would still be clankers, maybe said limiters were deactivated during the shut-down order after order 66, so all the droids that was re-activated can work at their maximum performance (as long as they are maintained).

I just wished there was a series dedicated to a Sepratist Rebellion or hell even a Rebel Cell that some Separatists joined so that we could see the full extent of their abilities. There was a fanfic I read a while back where droids made use of their independent brain functions after being salvaged after the battle of Naboo, and the OOM Unit was immiedietly much scarier having experienced fighting against an actual army as well as attempting to defend it's plan from jedi. It somewhat followed General Grievous's intended strategy of ruining the concentration of Jedi through fear, trickery, and overwhelming force all at once, as well as taking advantage of the Jedi's kindness, which is amazing in my opinion. The amount of tactical planning you could do with an army all fundamentally connected to each other SHOULD have been Code Geass levels with Lelouch planning, luring enemies into minefields, cones of overlapping fire, shooting through walls, etc

i would love to see the chattyness of old and the efficiency of now in some episodes. i have the mental image of a clone and droid playing rock paper scissors to see who kills who in my head thanks to the clone wars. a really bored clone and a droid that wants to live a bit longer that threw the suggestion out in a last ditch attempt. they keep tieing and eventually agree to let one another live to meet back here to finish. (they do and keep having rematches as it is mutually beneficial to both parties as the droid is reprogrammed and now considered friendly to the other clones annoyance but that one clone considers him a friend at that point)

I'm assuming that after Palpatine got what he wanted, all the sabotage systems to make the CIS lose at critical battles along with Grievous and Dooku, they were no longer needed. This freed the droid army to be utilized to their full potential by commanders not bound by Palpatine. This would be one of various major factor.

I think that making the droids better is a great idea when seeing how well they do. I do have a problem with the idea that the Republic only won because of Palpatine and Dooku manipulating the war because it makes me feel like the war was less appealing because it makes the Republic look super weak and the Separatists super strong. I like that Palpatine was the mastermind behind the war but I don't find it appealing to know that the droids would have won easily if it wasn't for Palpatine or plot armor. idk. just my thoughts.

Honestly, even though plot armor was in place, a very few clones have survived, and if it wouldn't be for Cody and Crosshair, the clone force would fail. Cody was fighting droids from the beginning of the Clone Wars, and Clone Force 99, which Crosshair once was a part of, was an elite unit which has presumably been through awful lot of suicidal missions and got a lot of experience as well. And even then, Cody and Crosshair had one hell of a hard time approaching the target and had to save each other. So I'd say if not those two working together, even plot armor wouldn't help the clones.
