It's a global economy. If you look at Silicon Valley there are people from varying parts of the world who come here to create something. What might it be like to have that in Africa! And have Africans benefit from start-up $$..This is how innovation and growth happens.. Colonization 2.0 to me is a whole new reality.. means that instead of having Africans as purely the labor they now get to be business leaders and become funded entrepreneurs who can then mentor and employ other Africans.

There are young people who need jobs, graduated college with degrees they are not putting to use. It is also getting more difficult for them to travel out of the continent for more opportunities. So if they can't make their bread at home or abroad, what do you want them to do? And don't try to talk about farming or starting a poultry farm because not everyone wants to live only to farm. Some people want to win in technology, some people want to invest, and some people have big dreams. Even Rwanda does business with other countries. The only thing I would suggest is that countries in Africa be more aware of who they are doing business with. But I think in this day of technology a lot more people are going to be more transparent and more aware of what's going to happen. One of the reasons why the Slave Trade happened was due to the lack of transparency. When the lights are off people tend to start doing whatever they want because no one is watching. But when the lights are on and they realize people are watching they will be very careful of how they act.

@Ada-zg2qb
@Ada-zg2qb 3 года назад
@@Derelyn Yeah I'm concerned as well. But I realize that may happen at first due to the currency exchange and the fact that some African countries are willing to get paid less just to grab the opportunity only in the beginning. I have a cousin who got hired by a French bank and they're paying him $500 a month. He's still able to pay his bills and have a good quality of life but due to the internet, he knows he can get alot more per month and use his skills to build something. These same foreign companies did the same thing with China and India, but luckily those countries figured them out and dominated the tech industry. I wouldn't be surprised if these foreign companies are coming to Africa simply because they feel they can pay them less and influence them for the time being. So I am hoping and praying and assuming that the African countries participating in this may react the same way India and China did. If this doesn't work, then we're screwed.

Bulgaria, but we don't live in poverty. Bulgaria is actually quite rich, but since a big portion of the economy is in the gray sector (not legal, not illegal, not taxed, not documented) and the corruption, it seems as if we are poor. Yes, rural areas are dying, but that's happening in all of Europe. It's just a drawback of the European Union. Big cities benefit, Sofia has a great IT sector, many people prefer working in Bulgaria than Germany since the buying power of Lev is just higher than the Euro in Germany for example. Small villages don't contribute to global economics and they are dying. Some people aren't ok with this, I'm ok with it. The only people that live in poverty are those with the soviet mindset. Those who think the country will solve their problems and that they don't need to address them. We have our problems, but in no way, it is as bad as "everyone living in poverty".

The Green Revolution that brought so much wealth to wet places like southern China, southeast Asia and southern India mostly passed over the arid regions of Africa. So the region is playing catch up. Most people don't realize that since 2000 or so, there has been several booms in different parts of the continent, making it the world's fastest growing region.
