Regardless of what you think, Elon Musk is arguably one of the most influential people on the planet. His words carry weight. And now, Elon's musk has wafted across Twitter in the form of bleak despondency for the future of rival company, Lucid Motors, claiming them to be "not long for this world." A little harsh, don't you think, Elon? They just showed up at the party, and now he's warning them that their days are numbered? Lucid is no flash in the pan hoping to show off some one-trick pony, collect a check, and leave. Instead, this new start-up is serious about waging war on other electric cars, wielding some of the best new cars of recent years in its arsenal. But perhaps Elon may actually be on to something here. Or maybe he's just blowing smoke to rile up his former engineers-turned-enemies. To understand why Tesla's avatar feels so strongly regarding his competition, we must briefly analyze his point of view and where his competitors stand.So far, nothing has stopped Lucid from taking home trophies, having journalists sing their praises, and birthing a loyal following of discerning new owners, happy to have a different flavor of premium EV for a change. But, like a well-received yet ill-fated RU-vid channel, it takes more than a knack for good content to have a good business case.As previously mentioned, Lucid reportedly loses money on every vehicle sold, having taken heavy losses from the 2,000 cars they sold last quarter, according to Electrek. By comparison, Tesla is one of the most profitable automakers in the industry right now, even more so than Toyota. This can be attributed to relatively quick and cheap production, allowing for Tesla cars to be produced in fleets and allowing for strong pricing to attract many blue-collar buyers..
