Ethan Wadsworth from DiscreteHeat and Rich Cartwright from Heat Engineer discuss the challenges and possibilities impacting meaningful adoption of heat pumps in the UK and how emitters are key to the pace of change.
They state why it should all start with design and will challenge architects to play their part in persuading homeowners to ditch their radiators. No longer should installers rely on outdated estimates and crude methods to size heating systems. As of now it should be common practice to easily complete a room by room heat loss study and design a max flow temperature of 55C to the emitters.
Both Ethan and Rich are of a pragmatic disposition and are passionate about reducing waste and improving efficiency within heating systems. It is their mission to simplify the message to installers and homeowners that thermal comfort can come at a lower (financial) cost and burden to the environment.
