That’s the truth . Something you said a long time ago and really helped my family’s shop become more profitable. To paraphrase you said “ some shops think they they write the best estimates but they are really just the best in their town.” That humbled me and I never stopped wanting to learn more and more.
Yeah this type of mentality might work for independent shops but let me try and tack on some additional materials at an MSO with DRP contracts…immediate change request 😂
Couldn't this be phrases from a different perspective? That is, charge for it whether it's damaged or not? This is a very specific kind of spin, and it's why many people don't trust shops.
Selective attention or cognative reframing has nothing to do with fraud.... the shop simply charges for everything they do that is an expense: labor, material and risk.... not just "damage". If im focusing on "damage" im missing all the other things.
My shop started doing exactly that and everything started to total. Progressive is steering jobs away now, Alstate is pushing back and state farm is double checking everything. We spend more time looking up documentation than anything. Employees are wondering why simple jobs are being blown up to the point of totaling. I'm up for profits and making more money but it's starting to have the opposite effect. I'm not the owner but a long-time employee/ working manager. We have a medium-small shop in a not so big city. On the verge of being country. This type of thinking is understandable but is confusing Employees , infuriating customers and insurance companies are taking much longer to authorize supplements. I don't know if this way of looking at it is right for our shop
