I've been told that this is supposed to light up.....mine doesn't, I'm chalking that down to it being pre production and mine just not working then. Yours should be fine if it does indeed light up.
Nah, man. This whole line is just bust. This is a bloody awful look for a company. Normally they give away the freebies with additional paint apps or with collector's cards to make the toy/promo item look good. All you got was loose joints, a wing that falls out, a waist that comes off, and some free dirty tape to plug the hole.
I'll do one better: Why bother with the Masterpiece....at all? The MP line has been DONE to me for YEARS now. Ever since G1 2.0 hit the mainlines starting with Combiner Wars to the present. So much goodness, modern, good looking representations of every character you can think of, etc. *R.i.P Masterpiece line.*
@Salty_Balls My Megatron eyes wouldn't light up either. The problem is they mash the LED electronics in so tight that they break the circuitry in the assembly process. I contacted Yolopark directly and they will ask you where you got it and to take a picture of thr electronics (So you will have to disassemble the head) and send them the Pic. I did that and got a new circuit board sent to me in the mail in about 2 weeks.
It's just because usually a paint chip is a mar on a pristine looking figure. When the paint chipping is done purposely and done well, it makes the figure look realistic, like battle damage It also has the side bonus that if the figure's paint actually chips, it doesn't look out of place at all
I don't know if your copy didn't come with batteries or working lights, but the eyes should light up like Prime and Megatron did. All the promo pictures on Yolopark's preorder page show the eyes lit up and it's even listed in the features as "Detailed Head Sculpture & Eye Lighting Effects".
I absolutely love your reviews, dude. So hilarious and informative. Pre-ordered this guy immediately when they announced him! Megatron and Prime just came in yesterday and I'm super happy with them! I really hope we get Shockwave! (Shockwave fan here lol)
I like transforming my Transformers, but I also like Yolopark. I think a collector can have an appreciate both. That being said, these are a good value overall for the price and likeness of the character. Also compaired to the mp these things are strikingly close in likeness. The mp transforms but I've heard many just leave them on shelves in bot mode and rarely transform the mp. These figures could be paired will with model kit vehicals as well. Overall this starscream looks great and hopefully they will make the seeker trio. Thanks for the review.
I love the Yolopark figures. Not transforming is a shame but you're paying for amazing paintwork and great articulation. The lack of a waist swivel is a shame. Would have been nice to let us maybe pull it up and out. It would look weird but weird articulation is better than barely any.
@mustard3331 Well I'm sure most people would prefer they be capable of transformation considering the whole gimmick of Transformers is them turning into vehicles. I personally don't mind it much
tbf even if they had made more space behind the cockpit, I feel like it's still going to bump into the red bit on the side, which probably leaves you with the same amount of swivel, while also takes away the structural integrity of the cod piece, which may or may not be needed for the bits that shift up and down
I think it's a case of the design limiting articulation, I don't see how you could make the cockpit a solid piece while keeping part of it going into the croch and still retain articulation
I love how all starscream’s for some dumb reason are scared to use a small faux part of the cockpit to allow rotation. Deformatiom space starscream has a full 360 waist and still looks just as good.
They could just pull an Armada Optimus and put the waist joint below the skirt. Or they could have had the top parts of the skirt rotate with the torso. There were so many other solutions to this problem than to just not bother. And this figure doesn't even have the excuse of needing to transform.
Feels like they could've put a rail inside the waist piece for the cockpit to slide into on either side without ruining the stability. And - they didn't include the trademark Starscream evil grin! That's just unacceptable to me.
They could have easily made a fix for the waist swivel. Not sure why they didn’t. Otherwise, I LOVE THESE! I am buying and dreaming when the Bayverse Bots come out! Knight Prime Looks EPIC!
We need a similar silhouette in a Hasbro figure. They’ve already proved they can do it with the new SS86 Prime. The current seeker mold is not good at all
Why bother with the MP? Because while the process is annoying as fuuuuuuck - and this is true of MP3, MP11, and MP52 - the MP molds actually transform. And daaaaaamn, the jet mode on MP52 is worth the annoyance. So the "chipping" layering technique is basically the battle damage/play wear that Hasbruh tried and woefully failed to pull off with Siege. (Though that Wreckers G1 toy colored repaint of Siege Springer does a much better job of it than literally everything else in Siege, not sure why Hasbro couldn't sustain that) Huh. I hope - if they didn't do it already - that they do a retool of Optimus to include a compatible Starscream head & wings...yesss!!
Why even bother with the Masterpiece? Because I want my Transformers figures to, I dunno, transform? Kind of a core part of the concept. However, I can see this being useful for collectors who might want to have a figure in both modes. You can have the MP for vehicle mode, and then get this for robot mode. Then you can display Starscream alongside his jet mode.
The waist joint thing bothers me so much. On the MP, sure, it's gotta transform which complicates things quite a bit. On this guy, you could just have the red pelvis part hollow behind so that turning the waist lets the bottom part of the cockpit slide behind it, if that makes sense
Masterpiece were nice at the start, but are just too 'toon accurate' which translates to: little to no paint or detailing, complex/fiddly transformations that just aren't fun and take too long, transformations that don't match the original toy, and so on. I moved on to the Earthrise scale because it's cheaper, and it's relatively G1 accurate, and Toyhax makes it feel more G1. Only downside is the vehicle modes aren't licensed, so they're inaccurate. I do wish there were a 3rd party that would risk doing Earthrise scale real-world alt-modes, relatively G1 accurate transformations with as few concessions as possible made for modern poseability and robot-mode looks (Sunstreaker MP had a partial chest due to Robot torso scaling, which I thought was ok). For example, SS86 Jazz was great, but he needed the doors come of either side, and his feet were not entirely accurate. I don't need the metal skids, just the rear window of the car to split onto either leg like G1. Sideswipe is another. The arms should have the doors hanging off them, and the legs should simply fold in like other figures (Cyclonus, for example), rather than flip upside down, which is not accurate to the G1 transformation. Just start with the vehicle modes, make them in-scale to one another at 1:32 scale and real-world accurate. Then, make the robot mode scale as closely as possible to the scale chart we see online from G1. Study the G1/Diaclone/Microman transformation, and do that, but then make the fewest concessions possible due to modern poseability and engineering (hands folding into arms instead of popping off, etc). Finally, make the robot mode diaclone accurate, except where the animation departed radically, such as Trailbreaker's head. And for Ironhide/Ratchet, those are special cases that should be studied for their most common transformation and lose the sled / mecha look of G1/diaclone. Wheeljack does need some help with his alt mode in comparison to G1. Earthrise is just...off.
@@DeathInTheSnow no the fuck it doesn't. Don't you fucking dare compare yolopark to those shitty rubber, out of scale, inaccurate, breakable pieces of plastic shit. The red line was an actual dumpster fire. Every amk figure so far from Yolopark is a slam dunk.
@@DeathInTheSnow Bro, you're comparing a piece of plastic with a figure with metal, incredible articulation and LEDs "but It doesn't transforme" ok that's your opinion and that's Fine.
Honestly I don’t care about LED eyes. I painted over the eyes of both my Optimus and Megatron because I don’t like the dead eye look on the shelf. These are my favorite Transformers figures but they could take the LED function out of them completely and take 5-10 bucks off and I’d be fine. Looking forward to getting him next month. Optimus and Megatron are damn near perfection when it comes to aesthetic and shelf presence.
The sidecrunch adds SOO Much! But it does suck that they flopped on the waist swivel… anyway! I feel like instead of buying a $300 Figure. You get to buy the well articulated version for $60 dolars AND you have enough to buy the smaller Studio Series version. I mean look at how a lot of studio series are Mini MPs! Even if they start doing commander version of every character, still way less than the MP! $60 for Yolopark articulation and $70 for commander studio series!
Can you swap the heads on Oprimus and Starscream to recreate that scene where Starscream was disguised as Optimus I hope that we get a Wheeljack Hotrod and Glavatron
@@shifty0212 there is one scene with Optimus using Megatron in gun form in G1. I think that since yolopark is contracted they have to wait for each character to be approved by hasbro. So that means they might have just decided to put it in with Optimus in case they were only able to make those two characters in the amk pro line.
I can excuse the most of the build quality as a model kit builder Since it is advertised as a model kit I assumed all of them have to be handled as a model kit with caution
I appreciate you demonstrating how badly put together this toy is. I had seen quite a few people saying their past Yolopark ones had quality control issues, and now this is the third one in a row (fucking tape? Really? In the demonstration unit used to promote the toy?) that has them too. You can still SS86 Coronation Starscream at a discount for around $50, and he can transform, has way more accessories, and a throne. He also doesn't fall apart, which is the biggest dealbreaker for me. So I thank you for being honest enough to show us all of the flaws.
“All the flaws”? He didn’t complain about many flaws at all and coronation star scream is ass.. A lot of you guys unreasonably hate “non transforming transformers” because the Bot mode is so focused on that the ones that Transform look like crap compared to it. I would rather have a damn near perfectly faithful robot than a meh robot that turns into a shitty looking jet.. and coronation SS also had ZERO waist articulation.. so.. on that aspect these two have the same “flaws.”
You guys are protecting _hard_ about this. Like, "I'm an employee not paid enough at Yolopark" levels of hard. I mean, he literally had the wing fall off, made a huge point about the waist not rotating (which is a pretty basic thing to achieve these days), and he demonstrated that by having the waist pop off easily, only to reveal it could potentially _pop off even easier_ were it not for the tape somebody wedged in there. And to top it off, it doesn't even light up like it's supposed to. Literally broken out of the box. And that doesn't include the fact he hates the hands, the faces and it's too short to be an MP, which is the comparison he tried to make.
@@DeathInTheSnow maybe because he owns a pre production sample? Ever considered that? The figure is coming out in Q4 for the the worldwide consumers. Those early figures often come with issues which are being fixed. I have amk pro megatron and optimus, they both are solid with tight connections. And about that waist joint.. You can obviously see why it is not possible because the jet canopy reaches into his lower section. even in his original G1 form. And who cares? Not even MP starscream was able to pull it off.
There are so few mps that are still worth it now. One of them though imo is MP13 Soundwave. Looks great, easy transformation, and can hold 3 cassettes at the same time. Esit: It just hit me. Hope they make an amk pro galvatron,
@@MinimusAmbusIII half of them can’t figure out waist swivels, his hands tend to look kinda weird, and his faces are always super weird looking to me. Like his face didn’t… stretch like that in the show. The heads always feel too wide as well. What was wrong with the MP-03/MP-11 head? Was that not hyper-accurate enough? And why do people act like Maketoys Howling Meteor basically doesn’t count? You ever notice that? It’s weird
@Cdr2002 his face absolutely did do that in the show, but most of it comes from his facial expressions in the movie, since those were way more expressive. The waist swivel thing is not an accuracy problem, it's a company problem. It would be extremely easy to give an accurate starscream figure a proper waist. (Crimson wing) the head thing I kinda understand, but I really don't see that as much of a problem. The hands in g1 were always just human hands with gloves on them since mechanical hands would be too hard to animate. I do think that is weird also, and I much prefer idw's style of hands.
The hands the way they do because they want it to look like the animation models, which have those kinds of hands. Less mechanical and moreso human gloves with bands around each joint.
I’m on a budget but I’ve learned that if I compromise based on my budget I’ll just be disappointed and buy the expensive thing eventually anyway, so for me I’ve learned to just save the money I would be spending on the “compromise” and just wait until I can afford the thing I actually want.
Why even bother? Simple no transform Me no buyee Not buying a transformer that doesn't transform It's like buying a basketball hoop without a basketball Or playing a guitar without strings
Yeah I genuinely had to do a double take because the blue arms looked inaccessible In fact I looked at g1 animation images and that blue also looked fake because of how weird it looks on this figure took a few if she’s to reacustom myself It’s just too light it’s baby blue
