There ain't rage-bait when we speak the truth. Me and many others have been Sony fans...not fanboys/fangirls...for decades...but we don't like getting shafted by Sony or any company for that matter. So we will call them out for their BS just like in the case of the PS5 Pro! Anybody who supports them at that price for the benefits/flaws ratio that the PS5 Pro offers is just the kind of dumb..."yes sir, can I have more please?" type of consumer that Sony hopes them to be. I ain't bending over for that. I sold my PS5 several months ago in hopes of getting a PS5 Pro...but for that price without a Disc Drive included (for my Physical PS4 and PS5 disc collection)...is extremely insulting to ANY sane person...period!
@thescorpionsy9011 I have a fix for this. Google “great accountant in my area.” Go meet with them. Set up an LLC. Then go to RU-vid and search “how to build a console.” Then go to indeed and put out job offers for people who know how to build consoles and offer them equity. Then Google “how to make a pitch deck” and “angel investors in my area,” and get investments. Then secure a warehouse and start making your own consoles. Don’t even worry about sales and marketing because your console will be so perfect it’ll sell itself. Hire a logistics expert and start distributing your very own better console! If you don’t like something, no one’s forcing you to buy it, and if you think you can do better, have at it. Who’s stopping you! The world’s your oyster. Why is the PS5 PRO $699 dollars in the USA, but £699 in the UK! That's over $900 dollars or more than £150 more to is clearly a rip off in the UK, a punishment for Brexit? USA price doesn't include taxed but tax is less than 10% in different states, so still way cheaper!

It's not just the Disc Drive. It's also the Stand. For a Console that was made to stand up, it's actually a spit in the face if you need to buy that extra. And in comparison about the Prices with the other Versions, this should be incl. since the Base PS5 has the Stand incl.
Amazing, one of a kind explanation. I got PS5 back in 2021 with disc dr (digital wasn't available), owning about 40 games since. I have 0 disks. I was able to pre order PS5 Pro and absolutely don't care about the stand or a disk drive.
Its not 100 for the ssd you have to buy a 2tb there is not a free slot you have to replace the original drive. The cpu frequency stats and memory bandwith figures are also wrong.
I got the disk drive the day the preorders got announced and got my PS5 Pro preordered on the 26th, I could care less what they say :) That AMD long-term plan with in-house A.I. Upscaling is what sold me on this day 1
It's like buying an iPhone 16 you don't just buy the phone alone you have to buy the accessories cuz the iPhone doesn't come with the charger or earbuds those are not essential those are mandatory for me I love physical games If I get the PS5 pro I have no choice but to buy the disk drive I got to get another controller cuz those PS5 controllers suffer through drift.
The same thing happened with the iphone, $1200 price tag, and no phone charger comes with the device. So many were complaining on youtube, and reddit, but people still bought it, and one release day, it was a long line, and people waiting overnight for the iphone. Same shit is going to happen for the ps5 pro regardless of what anyone says. For example, the ps5 disc drive is sold out at 95% of the retailers since the ps5 pro announcement. Scalpers are selling it for a profit now from $120-$200+ on ebay. Its going to get sold out on pre order day within minutes.
I appreciate your video. Thankyou! I think the main problem here is simply inflation. People are struggling and as much as they would love a pro they just cant afford it. So they get bitter and resentfull.... they complain about no disc drive even though most havnt used a discs in years.... they complain about the stand even though most people lay their consoles down so they fit in their tv stand. I appreciate you taking the unpopular opinion! All I wanted from the pro is to be able to play games at 60fps with the graphical fidelity of the 30fps modes. Digital foundry has done a deep dive on this and the pro seems to be doing just that. I couldnt be happier with my pre order. Im a middle class man supporting my partner and 5 kids. Gaming on the weekends helps me to recharge. If i can play my favourite ps5 games in 60fps with graphics similar to the 30fps 4k modes then Im a happy man!!
Should of just made the ps5 pro with the disc drive by default instead of complicating it and giving the consumer extra trouble, buying a separate hard drive and having to install yourself for £800.

I have gamed on PC for 7 yrs exclusively, and rarely have issues with modern games, just like consoles. PCs are consistent AF if all you do is game on it especially, since theres no bloat.
Think about the RTX 5090 that will cost circa $1700, so a $870 PS5 PRO with 2 TB of storage is really nothing, especially on a 12 month interest payment fee of $78.50 per month.

Damn such an intelligent, informed and balanced presentation of the facts of not only the economics inherent in the gaming space, but also a more expansive view of the marketing and sales practices involved. With respect to the idea of modular, wouldn't it be cool if they borrowed an aspect of the PC space and allowed you at some point to upgrade just the GPU in some form (swapping it out with a pro-like expansion kit)? Although they would make less money by not releasing an upgraded console in which they could swap this out in the production line using the same basic core used with each generation. Also they probably would have had less blow black if they could have offered a $50 expansion disk drive (like the price differential in the slim) but then of course with scalpers now gobbling up disc drives in order to resell at double the price-there are those considerations as well. Love your noting the disconnect of people decrying the lack of a disk drive then extoling the virtues of PCs which then of course can't provide an option for any physical games anyways, 😂 So thank you for this very illuminating and savvy take on things. This is true except for those who want physical games for game preservation. The modular disc drives require online registration to be operable. The original PS5 with a built in doesn’t require it. PC doesn’t need physical because it isn’t a closed ecosystem where you can only get your games from one source. The modular slim never entered into many people’s calculus because they’d prefer the physical with the disc drive unable to work without phoning home to a server that isn’t guaranteed to be there.
People are just angry about the price of something they don't even have to buy..and it really pisses them off the people that played it say their is a clear difference between the pro and the base so they can't fall back on the "It's barely doing anything".
It's the precedent it sets for the future. If they announced this at $700 with no disc drive and everyone is either okay with it or reacts nonchalantly, what message do you think that sends to Sony? Quit with the corporate shielding, they arent your friends. If it were up to them they'll price PS6 at $1000. But we run the industry at the end of the day with our wallets. And until gamers and consumers wake up and realize that, we'll continue to be taken advantage of. Also, PC vs Console is a "clear" difference. Watch any comparison video between the two, you dont have to zoom in 300% to tell the difference, all it takes is one glance.

There is more to PS5 than just GPU! They optimize allot of things under the hood, can be cache for CPU, increase data bandwidth and so on. And the cost is really not much considering for what you get. People buy mobile more expensive every year. This you can have for many many years and enjoy it.
It should be 649 for the digital and 699 with the graph you've shown. Sony is nickling and diming their core audience by not including a version with the disk drive while stating this will boost ps4 and ps5 games which many if not most have physical games. This is a decision they should have made with the ps6 if they want to be aggressive with the digital console. I do appreciate you taking the risk in which many youtubers would not on this subject.
Yeah I never did get that argument either most PC do not have games on physical media it's all digital And plus the computer I have now does not have a disk drive
If you have physical discs of PS4 and PS5 games then you'll need the disc drive for the pro which costs $80 more. The disc drive addon has been sold out(probably by scalpers) so good luck finding one at $80.

Sony is trying to break even from the concord. They're down $400million. I wouldn't be surprised if they were actually gonna release the ps5 pro with the disk drive and stand INCLUDED, but after concord flopped horrendously, they decided to subtract the disk drive and stand while keeping the price at $699 to create a situation where scalpers buy up all the disk drives and stands while the consumers pay the premium of the pro. Therefore maximizing sony's chances of breaking even from the concord investment flop.

So the argument is that from PS5 Fat Digital to PS5 Pro we've gone up a little bit in GPU (nobody will run this in 8K, AI upscaling is an unknown factor because Sony is using their own new tech, the graphics demo with Cerny was unimpressive and in 1080p only) and 1.25GB of storage for $300. Not to mention if you paid the initial $400 or $500 dollars you got a console that for 4 years has not changed in performance, and will last 8 years in total of the console's life cycle, or there about. Compare that to a $700 dollar console that: - yes, has more storage, but everyone was criticisizing the PS5 for its small storage up and down, that's probably half the reason why the slim bumped it up to a full 1TB. - has some updates in fidelity, but not anything that most people will notice when they're trying to survive in a game. With PS4 Pro, many games went from 30 to 60 fps. Here, it's not going to be such a big leap for most games, as most games already have a 60 fps option. PS5 Pro 60 fps options will just look a bit better but how much better will depend on the game and you have to count on the developers to actually use the hardware correctly, which will be a process and some can't be trusted to do it right. - has no stand (for $700 people feel like they're being nickled-and-dimed) - has Wi-fi 7, but I've never heard people complain about Wi-fi on PS5. This seems like a move squarely aimed at the PS Portal to give it more distance from PS5 so you can enjoy playing it further away at the same streamed image quality - is only good for 4 more years because then Sony will want to sell you a PS6 - has no disc drive, which you've already discussed in the video. The reason people have no disc drives on PC for games is because we have 1, maybe 2 services on PC that are rock solid and do not engage in monopolistic practices. Steam is an institution that does not limit you much based on country or beliefs, that doesn't want to sell you a subscription or farm your data out. They just sell you games, and have been doing that for around 19 years: Pay money, receive game. You don't worry about Steam going under, you can download and modify your games any time. If it's an old game, you can modify it to run on your system, or someone has done it out of passion already. With Sony, or Microsoft, or Nintendo, you're essentially buying a license to run that game as long as they deem fit to keep the service running and Nintendo and Microsoft have proven with the Wii, DS, WiiU, 3DS and Xbox 360 that those services will go down one day and all digital games go poof. Like they were never there. Sony already tried doing it with PS3 games and the only thing that stopped them was consumer uproar, but it's inevitable and will happen one day. That's why we want disc drives on console. It'd be a big cost cut for these companies if they could just run a time-limited digital marketplace instead of making consoles with disc-drives and physical copies. However, games need to be preserved and archived and the digital only game industry companies envision is short-sighted and the reason why we can't let them create a purely digital console games industry. If Steam ever dies, I can assure you PC gamers will either migrate to another store or placate to have games released on some form of physical media once again. Not an option with consoles.
This does not justify over €900 for a complete console. As a consumer, I don't care about any of that. I care about the price that I have to pay to upgrade and keep the same configuration (disc drive and stand).
I think the issue people have with the disc drive missing is because Sony wants to phase out physical distribution because Sony makes more money through digital distribution per game sale. People trying to save a dollar will go for a digital only. And think about it. Buy a disc drive or buy a game that PS5 pro doesn't come with. Both nearly the same amount. I'm sure people will go with buying a digital game rather than a disc drive. P.s I enjoyed this video you made. It's great to see someone talk the business side of things. And I hope to see more. Great video and great conversation. Because of my search algorithm, your video was suggested to me. I have a launch era disc PS5 which is still running strong. I keep it clean of dust and have upgraded it to the 2TB NVMe. I don't use the mount that came with it, I use a wall mount which lets the PS5 stand up close to the wall mounted near my TV for a beautiful display. I am hoping the mount will work for the PS5 pro. The disc drive has been used for one game, Gran Turismo 7 which I bought for $7.99 at GameStop during a sale so I could try it on my PSVR2, leading me to get a wheel with pedals but that is off topic. The disc version of the PS5 was so I could play my old PS4 games but most of those, I have the digital version now because of PSN sales or they were included in the PlayStation Plus package. On to the PS5 Pro and why I am getting it. My PS5 is 4 years old and I am a heavy PSVR2, Looter Shooter and CoD player which means my system is on for long periods of time almost everyday. I had upgraded to the PS4 Pro at the time and welcomed the upgrade. My daughter uses my old PS4 Pro which I swapped to a SSD and is also running strong. Lately she has said she wants to start playing some PS5 games so, this kills two birds with one stone. She gets a PS5 with a 2 Tb NVMe and I get my upgrade that will enhance my PSVR2 and upgrade the games I am playing. The upgrades in the PS5 Pro for me are the 2Tb storage, the improved video card and upgraded architecture. This time I will put in the 4Tb NVMe. I also have my $2800 gaming PC which I use primarily for Video and Photo editing and not so much for Gaming except for the PSVR2 on PC. Again, great video.

The slim is the best overall deal honestly! But I picked up the OG PS5 1215 series this yr in January luckily, an im happy with it 🎮🤙😎! Ppl are jus upset for the high price point, an less hardware included! Hmmm 🤔 🤷🤦

If you only have $40 in your pocket and you are choosing between a $30 plastic stand or the latest $40 hero shooter from sony...the stand is actually a pretty good value.
I think I'm just going to keep the PS5 slim and be content with the Xbox series X. $700.00 or nearly £800 in UK is taking the bloody piss during inflation especially in London. Exactly. Everyone has different ideas of value for money. Let’s say someone is gaming 6 hours a week. That’s over 300 hours a year. That’s $2.2 per hour of entertainment (plus the game cost) for the Pro. This is definitely more than the $1.6 per hour for the OG PS5, but both seem reasonable. If someone is a heavy gamer, they’re likely putting in far more hours than that, and then the cost is cents per hour to them. People see a big number and automatically think “oh this can’t be worth it,” but they’ll go out and buy drinks that cost them $20-50 for a few hours and call that worth it even though it’s far, far more expensive per hour of fun. People have to stop lying to themselves.
What is pissing people off though is Marc Cerny's (aka The Church Lady) presentation that showed so little improvement in performance. That is really off-putting and people do not even consider the extra storage space. They then consider having to purchase a drive and stand and feel very bent over by Sony. Even a free stand would have been a minor band aid. That's coming from a guy that bought a Pro. I'm just hoping it will run with less coil whine and fan noise, and then some additional performance.
Great point-not to mention people are looking at screenshots (which misses a lot of the actual point of FPS upgrading-literally frames per second, so one frame isn’t going to show the differences), and they’re seeing them from downscaled videos on social media incapable of even showing the highest quality, and likely looking at it on their tiny phone screen😂 I think you hit the nail on the head that they’re looking for reasons to complain and Sony shouldn’t have given them any.
You're paying for basic features just wait until the PS6 when it doesn't even come with the cords or even the controller and people like oh man it's a steal the price is so good. Apple groomed you well.
I promise you... next time you get mad about a "price" of something... go grab a helmet, a old bmx bike, build a ramp and ride and jump for an hour... you will literally forget about your "frustration" that the product YOU DIDN'T make, market, produce or distribute doesn't have a disc drive or a stand. Yes you can run a PC at that price. I have no issues running my games near 4K and it's out of date. I'll build a PC for 800 dollars that will run on the same level of PS5 pro or better. AMD Ryzen 5 7600X (CPU) Asus B650M A prime wife (motherboard) 16GB DDR5 (Ram) (Microcenter combo sale $300) RTX 3070oc (Ebay $250) Mid PC case Marco center $50 Thermaltake CPU heatsink and fan Microcenter $20 Gskill 850 Watt powers supply (Micro Center $100) That's $720 dollars and I wasn't hunting for the best prices. Just whatever popped up first on Microcenter that would match a PS5. And I have a little wiggle room left over. So if I was to hunt for better prices. I would be able to get more power for the dollar and upgrade the RTX 3070 to a RTX 3080. But the point is building a PC isn't much different in pricing when comparing power from buying a console nowadays if you have the know-how. But now you know. I built a PC to match or slightly beat the PS5 pro under 800. If you're spending 1000's of dollars, then you're wasting money. Where I see people make mistakes is top of the line CPU's. You don't need that for gaming. Games are more heavily based on GPUs today. If your just gaming, 16GB of ram is fine. In the end it all comes down to GPU. I hope this was informative. I can play all my PC games going back to the stone ages and switch to my ROG ally on the go. Also widescreen support, mod support, customizing, mouse / keyboard are very important to me. I don't knock anyone for playing on consoles, PC just has way more of what I find important in a gaming system.
OG PS5 didn't need to be connected to the Internet to play fiscal games. PS5 slim,pro need Internet to activate the disc drive. You need to go online to play offline. Bottom line they course correct or i become a retro gamer.

Definitely a lot of options there! The slim has the slightly increased memory for the same price. But you said you’re going digital right, so then OG might still be the better deal. I actually have an external on my OG PS5. I don’t recommend playing games off it, but it’s easy to add an external or internal, and if that’s what you’re most looking for, could be a better option than the Pro if you’re not looking to spend that much.
It’s funny because the target audience for this machine probably already “upgraded” their base PS5 for a PS5 slim with a disc drive and will just sell their PS5 slim and use that disc drive for their PS5 pro. I am probably going to buy the pro and a disc drive if the improvements prove to be worth it when people actually start getting them. I am not happy about it but will just do it because I want the best. $600 would have been a non issue but $700 is a bit much but it isn’t an asinine or ridiculous amount in my opinion. The people complaining were never going to buy the machine even if it was $500. $700 allows Sony to make a good margin on it and if it doesn’t sell they probably have plenty of leeway to cut the price after the enthusiasts who would buy it at any price point have already bought it, kind of like what they did with PSVR2 which I bought day one.
The new Xbox Series X sku where I live in Belgium cost €650. What did people expect? That the Pro cost less than the Series X? Obviously this wasn't going to happen. I knew beforehand we could expect a more premium price tag. And guess what? I pre-ordered mine and I'm looking forward to it. Everything is more expensive these days. Flgship smartphones are easily above €1000. Nobody is complaining about that... Many people and so called professionals are claiming for the price of the pro, you could build a more powerful pc. I assure.you, in Belgium that's not the case + when the Sony exclusives releases I want to play them from day 1. A pc gamer had to wait 2 years for then and if they're lucky they get a decent port... And yes a high end pc is more powerful but the thruth is you hardly see a difference. Especially if you're further away ftom the screen and like most console users, we sit in the. Couch.2-3 metres away from the screen. We just don't need extra.power for higher resolution. A pc gamer is most likely to sit very close to the screen and.a higher resolution is more favourable that way.

I guess I'm one of the few that doesn't care much about the price...I care about whether it's a big difference compared to the PS5 or not. From what I've seen, it's well into the land of diminishing returns. An incremental rather than dramatic improvement. I'd rather just wait for the PS6, honestly.

I would honestly love to play the enhanced version of The Last of Us Part II, but for now it’s not the right price point for me personally (even if many of the commenters have convinced themselves I’m getting one and trying to sell them on it too just because I didn’t join their rage train😂)
People are not upset because the Additional disc drive costs 80 dollars. They are upset because 700 dollars (or 800 euros where I live) doesn't buy you the complete premium package. People are upset because they wanted to have the drive and the stand included in the 700 dollar deal.

@@madkurious of course. The price tag on the PS5 Pro is due to : 1. A complete lack of competition from Microsoft 2. Sony wanting to make an actual profit on this piece of hardware 3. The manufacturing costs of the PS5 Slim which haven't fallen significantly enough since 2020. Have a great day!

There actually is a big difference when it comes to the disc drives: the detachable disc drive that is used for both the Slim and Pro model requires an internet connection to be activated, something the original PS5 disc version does not have. By the calculation you presented, sure, customers pay less for going physical, but they in return might forever lose access to their physical library of games in the future should Sony decide to take that activation service offline. On the original PS5 disc version, you won't have that issue. That would also, at least for me personally, make the trade-in option very problematic (I own the original PS5 disc version).

@@madkurious Storefronts don't stay up forever, niether does all the content for thier library, that shit is inpermanent and you will loose access to your accounts and libraries in time, because they will die so will the preservation of the games If you didn't download it you can't anymore once the platform is gone, even if you did chances are the Client eg. Steam, Origin, Epic, Xbox, PSN, etc. requires connection to phone home to validate once every so often for DRM purposes. Only physical containing the full game that can eg. (install) and run offline, DRM free releases from sites like GOG and Cracks eg. "Piracy" WILL preserve the games for future generations, the Industry does not care about preservation right now though witch is very worying. See I don't care if games come on a disc or in a hard drive/external/flash drive or a Flash cart or NVME/Nand Solid State storage, I just think games should be preserved, rather than pretend online stores and thier titles will stay up forever, look up how many games have been unlisted and delisted and removed from stores, games that were exclusive to eg. Stadia, all the content that I used to own on the older version of the Xbox Marketplace on Xbox 360 that even in Dowload history it just says "content unavailible" yet it was very much readily avialible, purchasable, dowloadable back in the day. I know I spent so much back in the day on the ever evolving 360 Xbox Live. Stuff now that is just gone, you can't dowload or purchase anymore. I expected it to stay there but nope. Digital is not the future it is only a point in time while the content is accessable. Anyone who thinks digital is perfectly fine is Naiive. Also it would be nice if we could go back with not needing to install everything, if we can sort out the microSDXC/disc speed/drive read speed, buffer, cache and ram allocation that everything can work fast and quick resume and not need to be installed, we could use the storage drive space for other things like dowloading, storing and playing back media, recording gameclips/gameplay. etc.
well, $100 for the storage cost is *very* fair, so just $100 for the massive GPU upgrade plus PSSR etc, *and* you get wifi7 for faster DL which is nice for 250GB COD etc. Seems to me that it couldn't possibly be interpreted as a "bad" deal.
This math is great but don't apply to Europe market. PS5 standard w/disc drive and stand included was 550€, take the 30€ of the stand and the 120€ of the disc drive is 400€. PS5 Pro is 800€ in EU, so you take the 400€ + 1TB ssd (+/-100€) + GPU upgrade (+/-100€) you get 600€ +/-, this without the stand and the disc drive.... So why it cost 800€? If we have to buy the stand for 30€ and the disc drive for 120€ to have the same machine with the upgrade? The prices in EUA maybe are OK but for EU are not....
Agree! Many have brought this up. I didn’t delve into anything with the other currencies-I mainly wanted to focus on the disk drive and comparison between models here, but this is definitely a worthwhile discussion. I may need to go down the rabbit hole on this too.
I understood the difference, but I need the disk, so I'll buy the disk drive for the pro. I have been interested in buying a gaming pc, but they're way more expensive, plus to have a great one more than three times the price of a ps5 pro.

I also purchased the disk drive because the PS5 is my fav home theatre player for my ultra hd collection, i.e. Dune, Spiderverse. Appreciate you taking the time making this. I connected my OG PS5 to my Sharp tv that was built in 1998 via hdmi to rca converter. I use to have my PS4 PRO hooked up this way and it was very easy to use. Frankly not having RCA cables as an option and forcing hdmi is just change for the sake of change. I have had my PS5 connected to hdmi tv and the difference between it and RCA tv is negligible. Funny thing is my PS5 actually user interface is better on my RCA tv then the PS4 PRO was. Almost like someone designed the PS5 interface with someone like me in mind. Because of the way i have things setup. My PS5 is connected to my VCR that is connected to my tv. I can record movies,tv shows and music. I record music for free off RU-vid and record it to cassette to listen to while driving in my car. I create playlists then record those to VHS and watch that offline at a later time. RU-vid has unskippable ads i can just fast forward. I have a Landline no cell phone. RU-vid is the only social media website i use. I have a gmail account and a PlayStation account. Other than that i operate with 1990's technology.

I paid 499 for Ps5 with discdrive and stand, the Pro costs me 950 Euros with the same drive and stand. If i get 400 for my PS5 i have to pay extra 550 Euros on top. Thats not sane for such a small upgrade to play the same games, no market speech changes that. Its a shitty price for a small upgrade with the same CPU. We are still getting crossgen PS4 games.
Comparing apples and oranges. So you compare a discount price to the original which is nonsense. You will get the pro later cheaper as well and you will get some offers which are even maybe better than current offers. Fact is the Pro has a price difference of 280$ and you getter 1TB extra storage which cost alone already 150$+, better GPU and WiFi. Not the best deal but no bad deal either
Region issue, the price difference is 280 bucks, if it is not worth it for you, don't buy it ,period The standard PS5 will get the same exact games so most of the people who are complaining like you are literally fighting with a ghost

I'm getting so annoyed that people say the Slim does not come with a stand. It does, it comes with a horozontal stand. You may not like it, but it comes with one. It's also been proven that you should NOT be standing your PS5 vertically as the liquid metal pools at the bottom of the chip, leaving about half of your chip not cooled properly, causing it to burn out much quicker. So, with that being said, the Slim and subsequently the Pro, do ship with stands for you to orient your PS5 horizontally AS GOD INTENDED. The only people who should be standing their PS5's vertically are those living in a 250 square foot apartment or happen to be psychotic.
Earned my sub for being logical. These idiots have no idea what their talking about and will probably buy the PRO when they find out how well it runs games 10 to 15 years is not happening though but upgrades could
100% disagree. They're going the price gouging route because of lack of competition and they know when the 1st actually good exclusive game GTA 6 comes out, people will pay these prices. I'm calling this the GTA 6 tax, plain and simple. 4 years is a very long time in computer hardware and to be price gouged for very minor upgrades like this is disgraceful. On the PC side we're being overcharged for graphics cards as well, thanks first to crypto and then AI. Inflation is everywhere and it's very palpable. Taking out the disc drive is one ting , but charging extra for the stand is on a whole other level. So frustrating. Own noting and be happy is getting more real with every new iteration and we should resist it. Boycott this generation to send a clear message enough is enough.
Wow-definitely a lot of opinions out here and intelligent people are aware of how to converse about opinions That being said you made a good video with good information I liked the presentation for sure and you came across very well. I think your point about understanding marketing is very on point or very true and I think you did a really good job explaining the differences so big kudos for that but I’m sure I’m not telling you anything. You don’t already know you seem to be very successful at what you’re doing and again comes across very nice. but I did feel like at the end when you focused more on the $80 difference and $20 savings that was a bit of a misdirect because I perceived people are not upset about that (disk drive) as much as the $200 increase. Especially after already buying internal memory for their existing, PS five. But again, looking at it from a business standpoint, if you’re looking at the individual as a business, you could say sell your PS five for $300 or so used maybe you can get 300 for it. I’m not sure I haven’t checked and with that $300 Plus another 500 you could get your PS five pro but would you really want to spend another 500+ the 300 for selling your old console to get something that isn’t gonna last another five years before the next new item is out? And I guess that’s where the personal decisions come in. Now I imagine there are a lot of people upset about a lot of different things but I think for the most part people are more bothered by the $200 increase not really the disc situation. The hundred dollar difference was definitely a rip off, but people were willing to pay for it because, most people felt the PS4 had run its course and everyone was excited about having something new. The transition for new in the gaming console space is pretty much a cash grab because after four or five years people are dying for the next new thing so they could totally charge 500 and that was pretty much expected. The fact that they could’ve sold it for 400 with the disc, is not too surprising because they wanna maximize the profits Business 101. But again, all in all great video definitely agree with everything except for what people are really upset about but again as we know in the gaming space a lot of people are loud and wrong a lot of the time. So unfortunately, I understand that you saw a lot of people complaining about the disc, but I personally saw more people complaining about the overall price increase not so much the disk situation, especially when most of us understand that Sony is a company that wants you to buy digital so they can control every aspect of your gaming and put you in a world where instead of having physical games you just pay the monthly to be able to play games a.k.a. no DVD movies just pay them a monthly fee or instead of owning music you just pay a monthly fee like Apple A world where instead of you owning your games you just pay them a monthly fee for games you bought 20 years ago. that’s the kind of crap that I definitely will not subscribe to and honestly I’ll stop gaming or just use old consoles before I subscribe to a pay to play model whatever I’m paying now is enough.. And honestly, the joy of being able to turn on a system and play a game without logging into the Internet and agreeing to contracts I don’t read unfortunately, it’s becoming more and more desired over whatever graphics and new things that are being presented to us today Also considering what Disney just did and that lawsuit regarding a 90 day trial period of Disney+, I could easily see in 10 years we agree to things we would never agree to in our life coming from the gaming industry unfortunately among other industries.

US pricing is fine, imho. This is a premium version of a gaming product. Console gaming had been far too low for far too long, and Sony is testing the waters (I think) on how this kind of pricing will go for PS6. My guess is this will sell out and Sony will conclude the pricing was fine. I predict they will price PS6 around $700, no digital version only. PS6 Pro will be 3-4 years later at $1000. Edit: This video is probably the best video I have seen about this topic. Hit almost every point I have made in other videos/forums etc.

A mid range pc will run, any game. the comments having issues are anything from user error, to driver, bios things. so a pc, would be better in most cases. it just requires certain knowledge. copying and saving even steam games is fairly easy to the point, it doesnt matter if you dont have a physical copy, because its nothing back up and find even games you cant buy anymore. pc is king when it comes to back compat. this issue is, if you are not a certain level of tech savvy its not easy for the average person. however, a console is king for plug and play, everything will play with no tweaking, tv support is perfect consoles vs pc. PS pro, keeping on option to get a drive is awesome. you are on point with it the price with disk not being bad, and it makes the console have 1 sku, with a simple ad on too get a drive. also we are getting more gpu power, more storage, etc. the price is fine considing that. also manufactoring cost are high for everything. my samsung phone was 1800, my 4090 was 2k. my 14900ks and its cooler was 1100. my 4 4tb ssds, and 4 16tb hdds were 2.200. electronics are going up and wont stop. if you cant afford, it nots needed stay with the old models until the price drops simple. most of the folks complaining dont even have tvs that can do 120hz and have vrr. so they cant take advantage of all the features that base ps5 has anyway. so this is not a good buy for them anyway.
i like it when people that are comfortable with their lives in usa tell us from the rest of the world that we whine alot about things getting expensive . Consoles are meant to be for the casual gamer lady , not the youtubers , not the wealthy that are buying the 4080s and 90s . If you start this price war on that lvl then gaming will soon be finished . I’m sorry you feel like I’ve insulted you. To be completely honest, this is a US perspective for a US audience. Next time I make one of these, I’ll consider at least mentioning the exchange rate issues. I don’t mean to diminish the difference in purchasing power for various currencies-it is absolutely a worthwhile topic, it just wasn’t the topic I covered here. It sounds like it might be a good one to cover in the future since it affects a larger audience than I expected would see this video. Side note: 4090s are around $1600, double the price of the entire PS5 at its highest possible price point, and that’s without the other $1000+ of other parts you’d need to buy to not bottleneck that GPU. That’s a much larger jump than $500 to $800

Imagine being upset about a company releasing an improved product and charging more for it 😂 It is forgotten since the PS5 was released we have gone through high inflation as well as the start of the AI revolution where chips are in higher than ever demand pushing up prices. If you don’t want one, you’re in luck, as Sony will be selling the Slim PS5 too.
Till recently Physical Games & Offline modes were considered one of the best reasons to opt for consoles and yes gamers are moving in digital direction but many also have big Physical libraries so completele digital shift with modular components without subsidized prices brings console more in line with PC's without PC benefits thus Pro Vs PC debate is happening.
