In this video, we talk about why you need a sales team, and why everyone needs a sales team. You might think - I don’t need a sales team, this product will sell itself. I guarantee you, you will sell a lot more with a sales team.
Paul St John who has built sales teams for startups and big corporations is our expert guest, he built and ran the sales team at GitHub.
The reasons for having a sales team are numerous, from closing large contracts to improving product offerings, to increasing customer retention and generating reliable revenue. Watch this video to learn why a sales team is critical to the success of your business and how to build the right team for your company. It is more relevant for B2B products, but sometimes relevant for B2C too.

Thank you for the useful info. I discovered from your video that the sales team can help you to improve the product. However no sales team can save you long term if you don't have a sufficiently good product. I would like to see more videos about building the product. How you do the market research, find the problems worth solving. If you have any articles, books. Please share. Best regards!

TBH, I have doubts about statements here. If you have a clear b2c model with let's say monthly subscriptions, why are paid ads - "not a product market fit", because "you pay for your customers" (from a different video on the channel). When a sales team - is a must have, because "you won't be growing otherwise"? Also, while listening, I catch myself thinking of product managers and project managers as the same people, which are actually not. Project managers spend hours working with engineering, when product people have to be in touch with actual customers. Isn't it how it should work?

Thank you for the thoughtful questions Alexey. A couple of points here. Paid ads is great, just be a aware you will be selling more with a sales team and therefore moving faster. In most markets speed and sizer matter. You could be out maneuvered by a competitor that moves faster. The competition might also be able to pay more for every ad as they get more out of each customer with the sales team upselling. Project and Product managers can be the same, but in a bigger org they are not. Product Managers will only focus on Product and that is not the case with Project manager.

Although I like the condensed version, it’d be super helpful to hear the raw interview of this discussion with Paul. Is that available by chance?
@RawStartup
@RawStartup Год назад
True, this is very much condensed. It really isn't good for release. I might want to do something different with Paul, could be a longer form interview, but the current recording isn't good for that.
@sdouglasaz

@@RawStartup understandable. You did a great job on the editing, longer form interviews are very tough. I really appreciate you virtually introducing Paul into my space to socially watch/follow - outstanding advice.

@RawStartup

Hopefully you will figure that out as you watch the video. B2C is Business to Consumer and B2B is business to business.

Hello Heini Zachariassen, I really appreciate your work. The Content is super amazing and very informative. However, you seem to be inconsistent in the content post and Video editing. I know you're swamped with work and have busy days. So for these reasons, I want to be part of this journey and would like to assist you in all aspects of social media growth from editing to creativity. My experience will surely save days-hours of time and effort. Please let me know when you are available to discuss this.

I really appreciate your videos but your voice is unusually quiet and can be hard to hear (especially if there's any background noise in our environment). I do audio and know that this can be easily fixed, even with basic audio tools that many video programs have. I'm also happy to help make your voice come out loud and clear! I typically don't offer this via comments but figured I would because you're quite responsive and I'm 100 confident I can help :) If you're interested I can contact you or I'll reply with my email!
